Just wanted to point out, notice no windows on the exterior, and windows showing on the interior shots. The top 2-3 feet of the box lift up to create more headroom and expose the windows. This is generally done for 1) better fuel economy and ride, and 2) most vehicles like this are built for global expeditions, and are designed to fit into a shipping container. 2 also includes special low profile tires for roll on/roll off clearance.

There are a few websites where people have bought or built machines like this themselves. Base vehicle price is 50-150k, and the box buildup can match or exceed the base vehicle price.

                            shipping back to the US is about 4-10 thousand dollars. Base price for a working armored personnel carrier is around 6-12 thousand.

                            So for the price of a new toyota camry you can have a 30ton EMP hardened, light arms fire resistant, amphibious vehicle. With enough room for family and loved ones, and it's even got firing ports and a turret. They have auxillary sump pumps which can also be used to pump diesel. Everybody wins!

                            Yes, but it varies by state. Of course I'll need the liscense plate holder, turn signal, brake lights mods, but that's child's play. Because of the age I can get it smog check exempt, depending on the model some require a CDL due to vehicle weight.

                                              Tanks get about 1-3 miles to the gallon. Armored personnel carriers get about 3-7 miles to the gallon, which is identical to big rigs as they have the same motors and equivalent weight to a loaded big rig.

                                              If you didn't care about offroading you could re-gear them to get better mileage and top end speed.

                                                                                My dad has actually built something very similar to this. A bit bigger, complete with an intercom system to the drivers seat so that you can travel IN the back while the truck is moving, a large wall mounted flatscreen TV and what will be a future bathroom in the back! I will try and get some pictures to Reddit but I may not see y Fam Bam and the truck for another couple of weeks.
