Unrelated, but I was here the other day: Thunderhill Raceway skid pad. Here it is on google maps.

It's basically a big patch of super smooth asphalt and a gentle incline. I had my board and really wanted to try it, but it was my 3rd day of longboarding ever. :/

As part of my traditional photography class, I need to do a project on a film photographer. I now know who I will be studying.

He was the inspiration for all of the Sector 9 o.g. pintail photos. if you want to see more of that hill, find the Black Fly's VHS set Back in Da' Day, its awesome!

I always thought this was Jay Adams. Was steve cat hey in the dogtown scene too, because this hill looks like the spot where a lot of dogtown shots were taken

Helmet comment? Clearly a joke. That's like commenting on a picture of evel knievel telling him to wear a seat belt. Learn about sarcasm, reddit!

Nah, just utilizing momentum and inertia to be a bad ass. Vector velocity... Rabble rabble

This is the longboarder I aspire to be. How the F*** is he doing that? I've tried to bend my legs like that But I'm too scared I'm gonna eat shit. I can do that while standing side-ways.

This photo was taken when skateboarding really started taking off and I think they had a different attitude towards skating than we do today. I have a Sector 9 board with a picture of him on the tail of it and it allways blows my mind when ever I look at it.

[–]2ill2killhomebrew 9two5 | fasier valley, B.C. 3 points4 points ago

lol did they even have helmets?

[–]sporkinum 0 points1 point ago

Cooper hockey helmets. They were only worn once in blue moon. And they had about 1/8" padding.

[–]KerseDrang Diskette 20 points21 points ago

We all know it's dangerous to ride without a helmet, we don't need to see this every single picture.

Better it be used every picture than a pointless avoidable death. People who are new to the culture don't know any better and think safety gear makes you look like a pussy, we need to make it a positive stereotype and if that means putting a comment on every page so be it.

Doesn't mean you have to reply to and downvote someone who obviously means well.

Thank you for putting my thoughts into words.

You were trying hard for those upvotes. You gotta know when the time is right. This picture doesn't deserve any criticism
