It has nothing with IQ, the muslim community is being fed this hate in their places of worship. They are being brainwashed into believing Islam is under ithreat. Ah yes, religion under threat...

You know, I'd join their religion in a heartbeat when the actual deity decides to go biblical on guilty parties like in the old days - you know, as written in those books where gods actually DID things when they got pissed off with disrespectful humans.

So far I have seen no cities swallowed by the earth, ejected into space, people flayed alive by demons or angels coming down from the sky to render judgement on the offenders.

Nor have I seen or heard any sign of the abrahamic religions deity actually connecting to humanity and telling us all how to behave.

All we have are outdated books in a dire need of revision and clarification.

All I see area lot of people who are butthurt as their PRIDE is being butthurt.

And as far as I can remember PRIDE was a sin. As was WRATH As is Committing suicide As is Offending one's neighbor

    Religious fanaticism cannot be fought by going around telling people that their religion is full of shit. It can be reduced only by increasing literacy and decreasing poverty in a population. As long as illiteracy and poverty are rampant, people will turn to their religion to explain the "hows" and "whys" of their lives and of those more fortunate than they.

    This leads to a thought process that says, "Though I am a steady and righteous follower of my faith, I am relegated to an impoverished station in life so those who are not impoverished and have more than they need must be unrighteous. It is their unrighteousness that lends to my suffering. To destroy my suffering, I must destroy those who are unrighteous."

    tl;dr Ignorance and poverty set the stage for religious fanaticism. Get rid of them, and fanaticism dwindles.

    I can't tell if you are serious, because your example is just not true.

    Moderate Christians, like everyone else, usually leave the policing to the police. When the situation inflames prejudices and hatreds, they condone violence just as readily as anyone else. That is how it was politically possible to invade Iraq and kill tens of thousands of civilians. The WMD debacle was exposed as nothing more than a convenient rationalisation.

    What evidence do you have that suggest moderate Muslims are OK with extremist violence? By definition, if they are OK with it, then they are not moderate.

    The idea that Muslims are somehow a different type of human being to Christians is just silly. The only difference is the religion, and the religions are more similar than they are different. Acting like you are somehow superior based on where you were born and what religion your parents indoctrinated you with is just immature nonsense. It is exactly the mindset that causes the problems.

    The problem is that groups of people are judged by not the behavior of their best and brightest, but by the bad behavior of their worst members, especially if it is inflicted on others.

    The means from social redemption from this is that when a member of the group offends, the rest of the group must condemn them personally, to the rest of society, and state that what they, individually, did was wrong. The offenders must be ostracized and rejected by their group.

    Muslims and some other groups have not figured this out yet, and will not ever condemn the specific actions of one of their group, no matter how heinous. Instead they rationalize and excuse.

    By being evasive about that, condemning all bad behavior everywhere, or claiming they are being persecuted because of their membership, and not identifying the perpetrator as a bad person who should be punished, they create stereotypes that the entire group is bad.

    In the case of Muslims, this is not Islamophobia, but Islamoskepticism. The rest of society becomes convinced that Muslims are liars, deceitful, disrespectful, treacherous, and sniveling, thus they do not deserve respect or fairness themselves, since they do not offer it to others.

    The way to overcome this is to stop being tolerant of Muslims that offend, instead be at the head of the line in condemning them and demanding they be punished.

      No but I don't think one muslim can blame another for being an adherent to scripture which is fraught with apocalyptic undertones, violence and abuse towards women, and encourages the enslavement and destruction of all non-believers.

      Within Islamic countries, this type of religion is the majority, and as such it is the duty of the minority both in Islamic countries and outside muslim Islamic to speak out and educate those with this apocalyptic world view, instead of holding the mildy ingratiating complacency that is suggested within OP's post.

      All humans vary, as do the exclusive religions they are members of. To suggest otherwise would be ridiculous.

      I am sick and tired of people saying that the USSR or the Nazi Party are atheist regimes, its downright arrogant and It could not be further from the truth. Stalin actively used the Russian Orthodox Church to consolidate power (we see Putin make a similar move in Russia as we speak). He saw the value in the submissive and tyrannical power that is innate within all religion. Is religion not the origin of tyranny and dictatorship? Do dictators not thrive on a divine warrant?

      And to address the Christian analogy

      Why yes all christians should feel responsible and should feel guilty when unspeakable acts are committed in the name of Christianity. Why? because heinous acts are divinely warranted by religious texts, couple this with the idea that morality comes from revelation and you have a pretty big ticking time bomb, literally. I don't think you can seriously consider yourself a moral person and not feel guilty and ashamed.
