I bet it's deadly. Everything cool is deadly.

[–]TropicalDenial 27 points28 points ago

So that makes Bill Murray a serial killer then?

[–]bobqjones 21 points22 points ago

if you only knew, son. if you only knew.

[–]suchandsuch 38 points39 points ago

And then he whispered, "They'll never believe you."

[–]fifteentango88 -1 points0 points ago

that post blew my mind

[–]IByrdl 3 points4 points ago

Yeah like that folding lava yesterday, just wanted to touch it.

[–]TheDesktopNinja 2 points3 points ago

DO IT. DO IT, YOU WON'T.

[–]SitnaltaPhix 100 points101 points ago

Source video.

It's a baby eel.

[–]Paaaul 22 points23 points ago

It's adorable!

[–]lordlicorice 22 points23 points ago

It seems like it would take a lot of energy to keep up that motion. It looks like it's displacing about a cup of water per second. Where does all of that energy come from with its tiny digestive system?

[–]GeebusNZ 27 points28 points ago

Maybe it's got an adapted swimming style whereby instead of pushing itself through the water, it just wiggles around it, and propulsion is gained by the ripples caused through its body.

[–]lordlicorice 15 points16 points ago

Hm, yeah it might be an illusion caused by the motion of the water. It might be displacing hardly any volume at all.

[–]fuckidk 0 points1 point ago

Hmmm yes, vertical transforce with propulsion caused by bonds. Of course. It all makes sense now. Science.

[–]zoobernarf 3 points4 points ago

It's probably freaked out some diver with a camera is right next to it

[–]Lookmanospaces 15 points16 points ago

It has an itty bitty moray face! I find it oddly cute.

[–]fushi-tarazu 3 points4 points ago

It's movements are kind of hypnotizing.

[–]kind_of_a_big_deal_ 227 points228 points ago

That's definitely an Ice Wraith...

[–]SikkinDivigil 20 points21 points ago

It reminded me more specifically of wisp wrappings

[–]Greymor 3 points4 points ago

Invisibility potion, mothafucka.

[–]joeyparis 0 points1 point ago

Or maybe a Water Wraith from the next expansion? 0.o

[–]theredkrawler 351 points352 points ago

Thousands of these majestic creatures are killed each year to support the ribbon component of rhythmic gymnastics. Help save the leptocephalus - don't watch rhythmic gymnastics.

[–]Golden_afro 72 points73 points ago

I think you're probably safe on that one anyway

[–]entmenscht 33 points34 points ago

Done.

[–]SabersKunk 6 points7 points ago

I thought rhythmic gymnastics was referring to spectator participation at home?

;-)

[–]MomTackey 5 points6 points ago

Haha I don't know why you're getting downvoted I thought that was funny

[–]chaws 51 points52 points ago

It's the nose on his smiley face. Nobody puts noses on their smileys except for moms and faggots!!

[–]Pyrotical 13 points14 points ago

ಠoಠ

[–]MomTackey 21 points22 points ago

...fair enough

[–]strayclown 12 points13 points ago

*<:o(

[–]SabersKunk 1 point2 points ago

schoolboy error

[–]JacobCurry 0 points1 point ago

And the fact that he ended his sentence with a question mark.

[–]Telecasturbator 69 points70 points ago

It's a Hooloovoo! (A hyperintelligent shade of the colour blue.)

[–]FluffehTheSheep 144 points145 points ago

No, this is the thing that comes out of the lightcycles in Tron.

[–]derekdanger 44 points45 points ago

well that driver is drunk as shit.

[–]Lasercat77 14 points15 points ago

It's a wisp.

[–]TriumphantMe 3 points4 points ago

I thought it said a leoplurodon and it was going to be a Charlie The Unicorn reference.

[–]tuoder 35 points36 points ago

It looks like translucent, swimming bacon.

[–]popplex 15 points16 points ago

Then it must be delicious

[–]compto35 13 points14 points ago

Or an animate condom

[–]Evi1M4chine -1 points0 points ago

Imagines sticking the dick into it, and using it as a condom

I have a sick mind today. ;)

[–]derekdanger 1 point2 points ago

we must never tell Nick Offerman of this, or when we discover swimming eggs, we will lose him to the sea forever.

[–]aVan4 10 points11 points ago

Something like this exists in this world... and it can think. Evolution amazes me the more and more I learn.

[–]Langager90 10 points11 points ago

Does it's english name happen to be "The Sea Ghost"? Because then I'm getting one and naming him Yngvild.

[–]Laboratory 9 points10 points ago

Lepto - small, thin Cephalus - head

[–]Evi1M4chine 0 points1 point ago

[–]Pegasaurus_tis_taken 13 points14 points ago

All I read was phallus.

[–]drunken_magician 8 points9 points ago

I read it as Cleptophallus and thought a penis had been stolen. After the click, I was relieved and disappointed at the same time.

[–]theredkrawler 2 points3 points ago

Sounds Freudian.

[–]JustinRL_2point0 1 point2 points ago

I read it as Lepto-syphilis.

[–]lynsea 4 points5 points ago

Spent a month or so at sea catching these guys!

[–]pilvy 11 points12 points ago

and doing what with them?

[–]lynsea 7 points8 points ago

Population studies. These things used to be extremely prevalent in the US and Europe (this is the juvenile form of the eels used in sushi) but their numbers have dropped dramatically. We were trying to study the eels at their juvenile life stage which is spent in the Sargasso Sea.

[–]pilvy 1 point2 points ago

Thanks for your reply and keep up the awesome work man!

(Kinda ignoring the fact you said "trying to study" which implies failure, in order to keep this upbeat)

[–]Curdflappers 6 points7 points ago

Dude you're really bad at ignoring.

[–]pilvy 0 points1 point ago

I know, sorry, I put that in the hope OP would correct me and say everything went brilliant and better than expected.

The non response is saddening.

[–]lynsea 1 point2 points ago

Ha, fair enough. Unfortunately, there weren't many of them to find. It may have been our bad luck but overall, the signs were not good.

[–]soulking 4 points5 points ago

It's the water temple boss from Ocarina of Time! Run for your lives!

[–]dasscull 2 points3 points ago

Navi?

[–]vitaminrad 2 points3 points ago

It's beautiful; Must die now.

[–]Adventurer_Ted 6 points7 points ago

Haha, phallus.

[–]itsamarshian 2 points3 points ago

I have one of these on a shirt from Threadless. I always have to repeat myself whenever people ask what it is.

[–]meftw111 2 points3 points ago

One time I saw a ghost

[–]prole378 1 point2 points ago

Reminds me of the fish from Fantasia.

[–]touchmybelly 1 point2 points ago

knowing a bit of classical greek I was intrigued to see what a "slender head" could be referring to, it is a very slender head

[–]WiteLite 1 point2 points ago

I believe the correct term is wisp.

[–]sure_bud 1 point2 points ago

Literally, small head

[–]therandomizer 0 points1 point ago

Naturally occurring ribbon emitter.

[–]huggles_bajillion 0 points1 point ago

I thought that black blob was a boat and a giant streamer had come to life in the ocean.

[–]ered20 1 point2 points ago

It's the boss from the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time..

[–]DamionSipher 0 points1 point ago

If you're interested in seeing a higher resolution video of this crazy looking creature, look here.

[–]Sydviciouz 2 points3 points ago

I got sucked into YouTube for two hours because of your comment.

[–]colinsteadman 1 point2 points ago

What's it taste like? I'm guessing it's rubbery and disappointing.
