Home run? Like hell you will!

[–]ffejulator 82 points83 points ago

For anyone who doesn't know, his name is Trent Williams and he is a staple of Texas Rangers games. You'll see him almost anytime there's a home run to the center grass (Greene's Field). I've yet to see him drop a ball, and he always throws the opposing teams home runs without fail.

The Rangers have some great fans.

If you're interested in following him on Twitter, his handle is @greenhillkid.

Go Rangers!!!

[–]AhhhBROTHERS 3 points4 points ago

I thought they kicked you out of baseball games for throwing balls back on the field.

[–]DeskFlyer 4 points5 points ago

Makes up for sitting in those shitty seats all year I guess.

[–]ffejulator 50 points51 points ago

Sorry, I can't hear you from the top of the standings.

[–]DeskFlyer 26 points27 points ago

I humbly accept the burning that was delivered to me.

[–]Bubbadog12 0 points1 point ago

Apply cold water directly to burned area

[–]educatedllama 1 point2 points ago

As a native Texan and a rangers fan. I support this message.

[–]Jackmack65 16 points17 points ago

The question is, did he hit the cutoff man?

different game

[–]gargeug 0 points1 point ago

Touche. Here is the actual source of this gif. I just assumed that there was only one instance of a fan going out and catching a home run, so when I found my original post, I assumed it was the game. He must be a regular or something.

[–]TheKillerToast 0 points1 point ago

Do they just ignore the fan? Shit if I was commentating I'd be talking about the fans record that shit is pretty amazing.

[–]RedTiger013 10 points11 points ago

Catches it, signs it, and tosses the autographed ball down to the pro player that was supposed to catch it.

[–]TCBloo 50 points51 points ago

Fuck yeah, Texas!

[–]1sadpanda 9 points10 points ago

Fuck YOU, Tampa!

[–]MagnusExcelsior 30 points31 points ago

I'd rather have the video of me doing that than the ball.

[–]Siggy778 11 points12 points ago

Exactly. I always ask friends if they'd throw it back if they caught a homerun, especially at Wrigley. It's a split decision but for me there's so much more glory in throwing it back than keeping it.

[–]kaskrinj 8 points9 points ago

I wonder if this guy was recruited after that.

[–]panaceator 49 points50 points ago

I'll take this one: He wasn't.

[–]advillious 10 points11 points ago

[–]onlyforaminute 2 points3 points ago

Henry Rowbinchowder

[–]Grimmbles 17 points18 points ago

I made a downvote gif out of this last time it was posted.

[–]Puppetz 13 points14 points ago

Is that allowed in baseball to just throw it back onto the field? Or is it still a homerun?

[–]Djov 55 points56 points ago

Still a homer. It's just some fan throwing it back.

[–]Teh_Ent 17 points18 points ago

he was trying to throw out the runner on 2nd as well

He already has more than enough. A lot of fans will throw a home run ball back when it was hit by the opposing team.

[–]SirCoolWhip 14 points15 points ago

It's customary for home fans to throw back home runs hit by the away team.

[–]Mentalseppuku 33 points34 points ago

Everytime this gif is reposted someone asks this.

Think about it. These are multi-million dollar organizations competing in a billion dollar business. If throwing the ball back made it no longer a home run, don't you think they'd line the outfield with spectators and give them all free gloves?

[–]CherrySlurpee 25 points26 points ago

It would actually be cheaper than affording a decent pitcher!

[–]RealDeal83[S] 6 points7 points ago

This comment made my day

[–]duxup 0 points1 point ago

Well did he get the base runner?

[–]RealDeal83[S] 5 points6 points ago

Pro tip:

  1. Pause video at 57s

  2. right click and click Copy Video URL at current time.

  3. Watch awesomeness ensue.

[–]Brian175 -1 points0 points ago

Now can you slow mo this gif into video format, and put this song on for us?

[–]Addicted2Skyrim 0 points1 point ago

Using tablet interface so I can't but yes, that is the better way. Lol

[–]rothrock88 -2 points-1 points ago

What's the significance of a fan doing this? I honestly never understood why people throw the home run balls back.

[–]Wuped 5 points6 points ago

You throw back balls from the other teams home runs, the thinking is you don't want to commemorate/celebrate their runs vs your team.

[–]HPLoveshack 2 points3 points ago

Because it's cool.
