I think it's more along the lines of the idea that the content creator took the time to find the clip, crop it, and then put it into gif form. While a reposter just drags and drops it into a folder for instant karma a month later.

It just feels like going easy mode on our asses.

Do you know how rare it is that people are actually reposting just for karma? The majority of reposts are people that haven't seen it before on Reddit. And if it keeps getting upvoted then that means that there are still a lot of people who haven't seen it before.

It doesn't work. It shows up for you, but doesn't actually change in the database. You have one vote to cast. Also, shouldn't you be glad it's being reposted, since it means you get to see it?

Shouldn't you be happy that somebody reposted it if you hadn't seen it before, and the repost gave you the chance to see something you enjoy?

The repost-police on this site are kind of insane. I'm on here way more than any human should be, and at least half the time that I go to a post where the top comment is "repost", it's something I've never seen before. What I really don't get is why people don't just downvote, but feel the need to comment that it's a repost, and then beyond that, I don't understand the mentality of everybody else that jumps on board to upvote that comment.

This is r/funny. If it is funny and you laugh, upvote it. If it is not funny and you didn't laugh, downvote it. I don't know how it gets more complicated than that. The more you see something the less you laugh and then it won't get upvotes anymore. Maybe I'm wrong though, I just thought the purpose of r/funny was to make as many people laugh as possible.
