Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Nothing says, "We're not violent ignorant savages" quite like Muslims all around the world calling for people's deaths and killing innocent civilians and diplomats.

[–]sunnie31 24 points25 points ago

I have to say, there is nothing in that stupid video they're protesting about that makes Islam look as bad as this picture does.

And I'm speaking as somebody who has always very much supported Islam (albeit from an atheists perspective)

[–]telllos 3 points4 points ago

I don't even want to watch that video.

[–]friendlypenguin 1 point2 points ago

It's not even good. It looks like a high-school film project. And the church raised $5 million to make it.

[–]DJSYX9 1 point2 points ago

$5 Million?

[–]friendlypenguin 3 points4 points ago

Yeah... the filmmakers raised $5 million to make it. You could probably make that in a garage for $300. Since it was all funneled through a small church... I smell a tax scam in there somewhere.

[–]telllos 2 points3 points ago

Or just a scam. I think the director had trouble with the justice for something like that

[–]MadMan2012 0 points1 point ago

come on now, the camera and green screen are gonna cost like $500, so lets say $550

[–]manonthemount 3 points4 points ago

the modernity of their murder method coincides with their ideas

[–]mountainmafia 2 points3 points ago

And this is how radicalism will never die out, just passed down from one generation to the next.

[–]Puppetz 1 point2 points ago

Bet he'll grow up to be a lovely person, thanks mom and dad!

In three sub-reddits I'm not subscribed to and all appearing to be posted after I submitted this.

Right, taken from a twitter account that has 600 followers and you just so happen to be one of them. No, bullshit, taken from the 4 other reddit reposts. Seriously, this is pathetic.

[–]iGotChubs4You 2 points3 points ago

You are so upset over this.

It's not a big deal.

[–]daveirl[S] 0 points1 point ago

I don't follow it. Richard Dawkins retweeted it this morning. What the fuck is up with you bud?

[–]thatsmybanana 2 points3 points ago

I'm neither american, islamic or religious, but i cant help but find the Islam reaction to this blown out of proportion. It seems like they are blaming the entirety of America for the opinion of a small group of people who created the movie. Not even a hundredth of a thousandth of the population percentage. Yes i know the Americans had the same view on the islams after the 9/11 incident, but isn't the islamic reaction to the video just ok-ing the Americans actions. - A tiny group of extremist crash a plane into a tower and take hundreds of lives, and so in reaction america sends troops in to their country to find and eliminate the source of the threat, perhaps not the best reaction. -But take the islamic god's name in vain and the U.S basically gets the same treatment, for the actions of a small group of extremists.
-I'm not saying they dont have the right to be angry, but in my opinion the slight caused against the islamic people is not as sever as the actions taken against the Americans 10 years ago. TLDR: i think the offense committed does not justify the reaction.

[–]thatsmybanana 0 points1 point ago

don't take any of that to heart, just my terribly formatted opinion of the situation.

Yes i do point that out not even a paragraph later if you bothered to read, its actually my entire point that the sleight against the Islamic's is less sever than that to the Americans. Seriously did you just ignore my entire rant to quote one out of context line to me? and since you want to apparently talk about numbers, the total death toll was over 6000, please know what your talking about before you throw a shit fit and reply.

[–]SailorVanIndium 1 point2 points ago

I wonder what the world would be like if this generation would break tradition and NOT fill the next generation's collective-head with crap.

[–]robbor 1 point2 points ago

If the mainstream news media pick this up it will make Muslims even less liked in Australia than they already are. If the Muslim leaders had any sense they would make a very public apology.

[–]ifrit1100 0 points1 point ago

Well I read this and this about Saudi Arabia (and their grand cleric) against the attacks.

[–]robbor 0 points1 point ago

The Australian Muslim leaders should do the same.

[–]Mackinstyle 0 points1 point ago

Maybe, just maybe, not all cultures and religions are magically all equal and some are worse than others.

[–]sullipilot 0 points1 point ago

It's sad that extremists exist in anything. People they just make the whole group look bad. This goes for religion and politics. I think it is fantastic to deeply believe in something. But there has to be a point where you reevaluate your beliefs. Especially when you think it is okay to use violence to protect your views. All it does is invalidate them and people look down on you even more. Islam is a wonderful religion. I may not believe in their teachings as a Catholic but they have something wonderful. Murdering people and protesting because of it isn't a way to make people like you.

I used what I thought was the orignal image on Twitter and nothing caught it as a dupe when I submitted. Apologies if I missed a post with it in it earlier.

[–]Qikdraw -1 points0 points ago

I don't know why its "Especially awful". I view it just as bad as christians standing outside abortion clinics with their children, or the Phelps family, etc.

Raising children to be radical is bad, no matter the religion, race or whatever it is people are so far gone on.

[–]daveirl[S] 0 points1 point ago

I'm making the point that using your kids to protest the closing down of a school would already be bad. Using them for something this emotive or any of the things you've listed is especially bad. Simples.

[–]chekkers -5 points-4 points ago

Well it seems everyone in the background is looking to the left. Is it a beheading?

No?

Well then back to /atheism with you!
