I am not one to usually complain about the work that I do but every time apple has their "lets talk iPhone" event this happens the same day! I work in a mobile phone department and yes I get it people always want the latest technology, but to expect us to have the device the day they announce it is just ridiculous. Let alone follow up the initial question with every single question that could be involved with an iPhone and yet they own an iPhone already! This specific day I had 12 people in 4 hours time do the same exact thing.

I have to admit after about the fifth person I started enjoying how each person approached me about it, the best was a lady who asked in a hushed voice..."do you have the new iPhone?"

I cannot wait until I graduate.

approaches wearing a heavy trenchcoat and a broad-brimmed black hat, and in a hushed, conspiratorial tone, says,

"Do you have the new iPhone?"

I have been hearing that since the 4s came out. Some people back then were conviced the 4s was the 5 and when I tried to explain/sell it to them they thought I was some shady dealer trying to rip them off.

Do you happen to have a demo iPhone 4 or 4s? If you do tell the customer: "No, the iPhone 5 isn't out yet, but I have this demo if you want to try it."

You would (not) be suprised how many people beleive you. I even have the 4s signs all around it and only one or two people have caught on.

omg, yes i remember these people. Coming in wanton the iPhone 5 when it was the 4s bein launched. Then explain to them it is the 4s then they called it the 5g, smh. I began showing people the 4s demo and then they would say, "wow it looks like my 4gs!"

Thankfully we aren't doing wait lists this year (we didn't for the 4s, either). It'll make our job a lot easier when the phone is actually released, seeing as the wait list doesn't affect how many we will have delivered to us on any given day.

Customers can still pre-order on our website, though, and have the phone delivered to their home.

I just hope people aren't as crazy as they were for the 4s. It came out just before I started working at the cell phone store .. apparently a couple of customers drove 400km to our store to get one and then tried to fight another customer when they thought that he bought the last one!

Thank god all of the electronics in my store are internet-based sales only.
