What the actual fuck? Story? Context?

[–]metalhead4 33 points34 points ago

Probably trying to commit suicide. Most people walking with their back towards oncoming traffic on a dark highway at night are looking to die.

[–]PakPak96 28 points29 points ago

Are they that selfish that they want to risk the possibility of taking another couple people with them?

[–]LarryThreezor 18 points19 points ago

Jumping in front of trains is the de facto means if suicide in London. Causes crazy delays, and psychological damage to the drivers. They have been known to be forced retirement if they experience it too much.

I do feel bad that people feel like that, but every suicide is pretty selfish. Someone has to find it, and take care of it, and that can be mentally scarring too.

[–]PakPak96 4 points5 points ago

Many people don't understand that suicide hurts the whole community; everyone is affected by someone hanging in a closet, or found with pistol in hand and bullet in head. Everybody is hurt by it.

[–]2Weird2Live2Rare2Die 10 points11 points ago

Not necessarily. What if someone took the time to sever all ties with all family and friends, citing some need to start fresh and so on, claiming to be moving to some distant country or join the Peace Corps, and then sells off everything, uses it to purchase a boat or plane, and simply disappears in the middle of the Atlantic? No mess, no more personal harm than a gentle break-up, just a tidy little departure from the world. Seems pretty harmless to me.

[–]wellheythereguys 15 points16 points ago

You put some thought into this or what?

[–]Pendylan 3 points4 points ago

he even has a relevant username.

[–]PakPak96 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, that is the one thing that I can think of. Like if a homeless man was divorced by his wife, lost all his friends, money, and home, he would be pretty upset.

[–]PakPak96 0 points1 point ago

[–]sterfpaul 0 points1 point ago

[–]PakPak96 0 points1 point ago

[–]sterfpaul 0 points1 point ago

Dan hoop ik dat de boodschap duidelijk is... sterf

[–]Cheewy 2 points3 points ago

No way, there's another dude on the side of the road. With a red shirt, yo can see him walking towards the road but not too close to it.

[–]thebigdonkey 0 points1 point ago

My brother in law was driving to work one day and saw a dude walking on the side of the road. Just as he came up to him, the dude turned and looked straight at him and stepped out into the lane (this is on a highway mind you). He missed him but it shook him up pretty bad.

slender on casual friday

[–]L1mb0 3 points4 points ago

I came here to say "slenderman almost got him" so upvote for you.

[–]austinready96 2 points3 points ago

I had a dream two nights ago where Slenderman was actually Stephen Hawking....needless to say it was the weirdest dream I've ever had.

[–]spacecarb 84 points85 points ago

i would get out of my car and punch that guy in the face

[–]ztheday 72 points73 points ago

I thought that to myself, too. And then the more I thought about it, I realized, "No, I wouldn't punch that guy in the face." Sitting here on the internet, I feel like I would, but in reality I really wouldn't put the effort into punching him in the face. I would prefer to just not get more involved with the asshole and keep on moving with an unnecessarily accelerated heart rate.

[–]dan228 6 points7 points ago

This isn't one of those Russian dash cam videos, don't punch the guy.

[–]NiteShadeX2 2 points3 points ago

I'd go back and yell at his dumb ass, then speed off in a huff.

[–]spacecarb 1 point2 points ago

upon further review i would begin with a "what in the fuck are you thinking?" then i would weight my options and then punch him in the face

[–]skekze 7 points8 points ago

Let's be realistic, you'd throw your soiled pants at him.

[–]Pendylan 4 points5 points ago

Let's be actually realistic, I probably wouldn't have dodged him.

[–]SickControl 1 point2 points ago

[–]Simco_ 13 points14 points ago

I knew it was coming the second time through and still don't think I could have swerved in time.

[–]Bammurdo 14 points15 points ago

would've hit the guy twice too

[–]t3yrn 9 points10 points ago

"I can do better *Reverse* ..."

[–]leeferman 17 points18 points ago

I'm surprised the oncoming cars didn't flash their lights to warn the driver

[–]BantamBasher135 3 points4 points ago

This is an excellent point.

[–]chronogear 26 points27 points ago

This happened to me last month. I didn't even notice the guy and it was very dark. I was lucky to have my gf on the passenger seat, because she said something like "i think theres something up ahead", like 2 seconds before i could even pay attention on what was going on. Almost ran throught the guy, my heart was beating 10000 milions times faster, one of the scariest moments of my life. Hope this never happens to any of you guys. Damn, heart actually pounding faster now, IM OUT.

[–]pm079 9 points10 points ago

What a jackass. He should be off the road even when cars are passing on the other side of the road.

[–]IRAPEYOURDEADGRANDMA 46 points47 points ago

This gif could've been alot shorter.

[–]Wolfman215 27 points28 points ago

I feel like the fact it shows the three vehicles before shows how much of a difference one second could make. Imagine if the pedestrian popped up when the semi was passing.

[–]t3yrn 3 points4 points ago

Yeah, it terrifies me that the natural reaction is to swerve left, to remain on the road. I would hope if there were other cars the instinct would be to go onto the shoulder/offroad, no matter how dangerous, it's safer than being fused into an oncoming car!

[–]HaydenTheFox 3 points4 points ago

It looks like the guy was sort of towards the right side of the lane, in which case he would have been struck. Also, it's at night, so you can tell if cars are coming, and I didn't see any headlights. It was probably safer to remain on the road and not risk losing control on the (likely) gravel shoulder.

[–]t3yrn 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, but we're also talking ~half-a-second reaction here.

[–]Wolfman215 0 points1 point ago

Yeah it's hard to say what judgement call you would make until you're actually in the situation yourself. It's always different from a spectators perspective.

[–]only-for-throwaway 14 points15 points ago

/r/alot loves you.

[–]HellsHumor 1 point2 points ago

Comforting I guess that the person who wants to rape my dead grandma just wants to get to the end

[–]13Man 3 points4 points ago

He actually hit the guy. His reflexes were good...but not that good.

[–]Cheewy 5 points6 points ago

There is only so much road to manouver in. His reflexes are still excelent

[–]13Man 1 point2 points ago

I agree. It didn't save the pedestrian's life though.

[–]Negyxo 1 point2 points ago

Yes this is on live leak and the guy was actually clipped pretty hard.

[–]Levven 3 points4 points ago

I feel as though this should be used for a headlight commercial. "Do you have reflexes like these? If no you might want to pick up the Ultra Bright Headlights." Available at your local Canadian Tire. Sorry.

[–]aligatorstew 5 points6 points ago

This kills the human.

[–]nikhils_orange 2 points3 points ago

Oh, I think you'll find me quite cat-like, Michael.

[–]meatwad1987 2 points3 points ago

that guy would have been dead that day if i was driving

[–]skarface6 1 point2 points ago

So that's why they call me the cat man!

[–]SamFletcha 1 point2 points ago

Yet he stops his car on the wrong side of the road...

[–]FluffyPuddles 0 points1 point ago

His reflexes may be "cat-like", but he still hits the guy.

[–]Purecheetodust 0 points1 point ago

Pretty sure he still clipped the guy.

[–]Lrs8855 1 point2 points ago

This gif was so long, I was waiting for it so intentively.

[–]ImSorryIm13YearsOld 0 points1 point ago

I thought i was pp

[–]whatishapening 0 points1 point ago

What king of asshole stands in the middle of a highway! That guy is either Drunk/drugged to hell, or a suicidal psychopath. I would roll my window down, yell at him, then call the cops.

[–]Swayh 0 points1 point ago

If you look real close, the person walking on the Road did not have a face. video also cuts abruptly. We just witnessed slenderman.

[–]dudSpudson 0 points1 point ago

The asshole deserved to get hit. walking in the road like that in the middle of the night

[–]cokecain_bear 1 point2 points ago

what the fuck was it

[–]wRolf 3 points4 points ago

A person either trying to commit suicide or being absolutely retarded.

[–]xGhost09 -2 points-1 points ago

wouldn't have felt bad if he would have hit him.
