            Cool, slang for "fashionable" comes from Black English, 1933; probably popularized by jazz musicians. From Old English col which is from Proto-Germanic koluz. Kolus has given us coel in Middle Dutch, kuoli in Old High Germanic, and kühl in German. It also gave us kala in Old Norse, which means to be cold.

            Koluz is from the Proto-Indo-European gel-/gol- "cold" or "to freeze." Gel- and gol- also gave the Latins glacies "ice," which gifted English with glacier. It also gave us the Latin gelare, "to freeze," which the Italians turned into a noun gelato "frozen," which gives us the name for the delicious treat.

                                                                                                                                                          Another example of the "got you" attitude on the internet. Everybody is so quick to point out a mistake or faux pas.

                                                                                                                                                          A simple google or tinyeye search would show you that this is a unique picture. And that the accusation of lying or karmawhoring isn't justified.

                                                                                                                                                            I understand your point, but you have to remember that Nye is a childhood icon, an inspirer. I have no doubt that a decent number of people got into science because things like Nye's show inspired them from an early age. It's just like Science Fiction. Various scientists have praised Sci Fi for its power to inspire the next generation of scientists. You don't have to literally be in the lab to help the cause, you know? If you inspire ten kids to go into science later in life, they'll probably eventually accomplish more than you ever would.
