The biggest difference is that Lennon came out and apologized for his actions and turned his life around. Doesn't make up for what he'd done, but at least shows he understands what he's done.

Chris Brown on the other hand is just some punk who thinks he's hot shit, and afaik has yet to apologize to her for the whole thing. He prides himself on being an asshole.

Pretty big difference.

I've read people say what you've said maybe 20+ times on reddit in various posts. It never swayed my opinion the first time and won't any time soon. Chris Brown did publicly apologize for his actions MANY times. What more does he have to do? He's apologized to Rihanna as well. Rihanna even admitted in an interview recently that she's still in love with him and just a week or so ago at the MTV movie awards she hugged and kissed him hello. So, how is everyone on reddit still using this tired and overused excuse?

I'm not a fan of Chris Brown and especially what he did. I find it somewhat annoying that what he did seems to be just "forgotten" by the industry but I'm in no mood to read things that aren't true either.

But mostly, I'm in no mood to hear people say or INSINUATE that beating women is "okay" just because you apologized for it and make "good music."

I'm going to bet in another 50 years wealthy individuals will still be clamoring to own the rights to the Beatles (well over a century old by then). Even in 1985 they were exchanged for 47 million. Just the rights to it. In 50 years the rights to brown's music will probably be resting 700 feet deep in a landfill next to this decades baby diapers. There's a colossal gap in worldwide recognition and fame going on here. I think you're somehow not recognizing it (and probably not) hearing the difference. They had 27 tracks go number 1. Then he went solo and had another 4 number #1's before he was shot. Try to wrap your mind around this. If I had to make a list of artists with comparable feats 10,000 names long, Chris Browns name still isn't showing up, unless its a list comparing famous female beatings, then he rockets to top 10.

Personally, I keep my perception of an artist's work and their lifestyle separate. I admire the music of John Lennon, but if I was to meet him in real life I would probably think he was a complete turd.

Generally a fight would mean both parties were participating, when someone is abused it would seem as they weren't fighting back right? I don't believe in the death penalty and I don't necessarily think he should go to jail but I don't think 6 months community detention and probation is enough. If you think that all she got were a few punches in the face then fuck, I think that's half the problem, people need to recognise the mental abuse and trauma that goes along with it. And I sure as hell don't feel sorry for him for having a sticker put on his CDs.

Honestly, I think this little Chris Brown hate is getting old. He got punished both legally and in the public's eye. His name is toxic now.
