    A few weeks ago I had my first mixed age-group test and this is definitely what happened to me. That and waiting forever during kata for the children to be sufficiently prompted to get the correct stance. The experience certainly made me appreciate my adult-only school all the more.

              I generally see 3 happening all at once:

              1. Hardware (How many Ghz does the processor have? How much RAM?)

              2. Software (Operating system, and skins)

              3. Physical (The actual physical materials, and build quality)

              That's pretty cool. I mean, I knew it was technically possible, but never took the time to see if someone has already done it.

              Meh, I'm not too worried about apps. The games I do have are great quality. I have a couple apps (like a Notepad app) that works great, don't need anything more. It's got Facebook, which is the only social media I use. I'm more than happy with it, so I'm pretty excited with the Lumia 920 coming out in the near future. :)

                What's interesting about it is that you essentially can't have the discussion with anyone. They are always fervently given to a side, and seemingly don't have or want the capacity to objectively discuss the issue.

                Every time I see an /r/android post get up to the top of /r/all, I'll make approximately the same comment: Android is a travesty. It's fragmented across a ton of versions. Android carriers and handset makers do the exact same thing that toothpaste makers do: there's essentially no innovation or differential advantage between products, so they try to confuse the consumer, with names like "TMobile HTX One X Plus", and "Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G". Contrast that to Apple, where there is just "iPhone". Sure there are variants, but they are at least succesive variants.

                Whenver I make such a comment, I'll also clearly state that I loathe the Apple business model, ecosystem, methodology, etc. I would never own an iPhone, on principal, or even on practicality of not having any semblance of a filesystem, lock-in business model, etc. Back to my original point, then: even with such a proviso, most people will just respond as if I am advocating the iPhone as "better" than Android.

                Seriously, Android is terribly designed and implemented. It is now commonly referenced in plenty of UC Berkeley classes as an example of a poor platform implementation. On the first day of a lot of the classes, the prof will have people get out their Android phones, and they'll do tests, like timing how long it takes for the screen to come on when you press the button, or how long it takes to open the Dialer when you press the button. There's a huge spread across Android phones. Some, new, out of the box, take 10+ seconds to open up the dialer!

                Must be shitty phone to take ten seconds. I think its more about service than anything. My dad says he can't get an android phone because his home automation apps wont transfer over and he doesn't want to drop another couple hundred ( multiple apps) and make the switch. Even though he loves my Motorola ATRIX, he wont buy one. I think many people find their selves in similar predicaments. They have invested money into their apps and really can't switch without paying through the nose.

                I owned the first droid and then went to the iPhone 4s. I prefer the iPhone but after talking to loads of people what it all really comes down to is personal preference. My cousin did the same as me but she's gonna go back to the droid. It's the age old Mac v. PC. It all depends on what you plan to do with it.

                Yeah. I hate to admit this, but a while ago there was a time that I really, honestly cared about which was "better". I've reached a point now though that I know what I like, and I'm willing to talk about why I like it, but I really don't care what anybody else wants to do with their money.

                I started with the iPhone 3GS (my first smartphone) and recently switched to android. So far I'm liking it more than I liked the iphone, but to be honest that may have to do with the fact that my iphone is an older model compared to what's available now. There are a lot of features on the droid that I really love, but there are a lot of features on the iphone that I miss having.

                It comes down to what you want to do with it.

                i was the same way. I was die hard PC. It wasn't until my girlfriend for her iPhone and I compared the use of the phones that I found I preferred it. You could also be right that my phone at the time was dated so the new shiny one caught my eye. :-)

                How exactly does the iPhone have more solid hardware and OS design? Also I can guarantee that there are exact replicas of Airplay and iMessage on Android that are free. But yes it's personal preference, I just can't understand people who try to say that anything that iPhone has is better then Android. Like you said Android is more open which means eventually if there is a feature that iPhone does have the Android will get within months of it's release.

                      I don't care what phone someone prefers, but when they feel the need to come up to me while I'm minding my own business to tell me Android is better and imply* I'm stupid for using an iPhone and that I shouldn't get the iPhone 5 (this happened yesterday), or in any other way acts like one phone is more objectively right... it just makes me want to buy the iPhone 5 even more, to piss them off.

                        This summer my buddy competed in a Karate competition in Chicago so a bunch of friends and myself drove down there to watch him compete. We get there and it is fucking hell, tons of people of all ages running around in karate uniforms in this really nice hotel, and then us. This was a perfect opportunity to day drink, which we did. Coffee cups all day, just getting smashed. The kids in this age range were THE FUCKING BEST fights all day! They were awesome! They're so fucking nice to each other and they still pummel the shit out of each other with pads on. I loved it! I actually stayed in the little kid room most of the day, and cheered the whole time. I recommend checking these things out. edit:I did that thing where you tell a completely unrelated story in a thread. I'm the reddit that I hate.

                        I actually do/did Tae Kwon Do and have for most of my life. It's funny I've actually seen this exact same thing happen. One time a kid landed a "kick" (on the low shin obviously) and the other kid just fell over and started bawling. Plus I pretty much compared them side to side with the impressive fights and I couldn't help but laugh my ass off. It may have gotten me bad looks from parents and my master, but it was hilarious.

                        ahhh reminds me of my early days in TKD. those first sparring sessions were always complete gong shows. my instructor then had the genious idea of putting me up against a black belt so i wouldnt be afraid of hitting the other guy, and it worked
