Wait a minute, doesn't every class have at least TWO 15-page essays?

-A History Major

[–]bingram 5 points6 points ago

Ah, someone who shares my pain :(

[–]Joelsaurus 2 points3 points ago

15 pages isn't even that bad. Put in 1 hour or a little more of prewriting, and you'll save hours when it comes to actually writing the thing.

[–]cgiliberto11 1 point2 points ago

yeah as a history major, I sit here and think, Man I wish I only had to do a 15 page essay.

[–]ruff_ruff_meow 2 points3 points ago

No final exam? Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet

"Oh but you're going to have to hand in a 20 page research paper that's worth half your mark."

Good news everyone, I will be dropping this course because I got off the wait list for a different one.

[–]swaglyf 1 point2 points ago

Good for you bro.

Only 15? Lucky.

[–]shlam16 1 point2 points ago

I agree with most of the rest of the posts here. 15 pages is next to nothing. Try doing a Masters thesis, or a Ph.D.

So simple and so applicable

John Lackey is bad ass. I used to know a girl who worked at a bar by the stadium. She gave him his number but didn't want to hook up with him (for some unknown reason). So when he called a couple times in a row while we were all out drinking she just handed us the phone. I have no idea how he would feel about a group of drunks screaming into the phone about how awesome he is and why our friend should fuck him but didn't want to.

I don't think he called her again after that.

I am a History Education major, I have yet to have a class with a paper over 8 pages. I live in constant fear for my future classes.

[–]Zelcron 0 points1 point ago

If you are not still in your first year, your program is lacking rigor.

[–]Tearill 0 points1 point ago

im almost a junior and this is the best education program in Georgia.

I'm looking forward for your future post where you brag about the fact that you can't find a job.

[–]nofear220[S] 1 point2 points ago

As a cs major, essay writing skills mean nothing

[–]Carnifax66 0 points1 point ago

I'd take coding different programs every week to a 15 page paper any day.

In a company some day you'll be asked to do more than development as you grow in your career. Research a new product, submit findings and analysis to a higher up for a budget approval, present your goals or a new strategy to management.

A research paper when you break down proving a point, doing solid research and presenting a clean final product are all good skills to learn that you can apply in your jobs. Talking about items like these and their application to your work will also help you when interviewing. I was a CS major. This is friendly advice for when you graduate. I wish you luck. Managers look for skills that separate you from the other applications. More than just someone who will complain with an "its not my job" attitude.

You will want to move up one day in your job and set yourself apart. Learning to do things that "suck" and seeing the benefits are what will make you succeed.

Again, just friendly advice. Best of luck!

Pretty standard, get used to it.

[–]thelotuseater13 -3 points-2 points ago

Eurgh... 15 please, if that's too hard for you or is daunting... You shouldn't be a student.
