Also remember when the general conscious was "YouTube comments are terrible."? Then it turned into "YouTube comments aren't all bad." Now it's "YouTube does it again LOL" I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but reddit's quality has gone incredibly downhill.

Metafilter is too neutral without the feature of expansion. The perfect website, but we all like the vulnerability and ease of Reddit and somewhere along the line people started being super meta about karma. I think Reddit would be better without karma, but stopping it now would be horrible both business-wise and the community wants it too much.

This will become an image board soon enough.

I think the problem is that there is just so much garbage online now. Sites like this - where you can zoom in on one subject or look at mass group approved content - cut the potential to encounter it down but honestly, unless it comes highly recommended, I'm going to skip long posts. They add up after a while. I do see irony in that this, in itself, is arguably a lengthy post. So be it.
