You mean the motorcyclists? The truck was passing the motorcycle during this whole ordeal. The driver should have never attempted to pass at that speed in the blind spot of the truck (who obviously moved into the passing lane for a reason) around a vehicle that large. The driver that wrecked was definitely speeding. I don't think they were on the autobahn because the voice coming from (what sounds like) a cell phone sounds Russian.

This is something that escapes most drivers in the states. The left lane is for passing because passing on the right is, not just illegal, but unsafe. Passing on the right means you are passing in the other drivers biggest blind spot and the other vehicle is creating a large blind spot making it very difficult to see around the vehicle that is cruising in the left lane.

This is why I believe that speeding should not be the primary thing a law enforcement officer should be enforcing. They need to step up enforcement of keeping right, dipping high beams when other vehicles are around (including during the day), the use of turn signals and proper following distances. However, it seems to me that enforcing speed laws is easier (through the use of radar) and is more of an income generator than anything else. While I don't agree with letting egregious speeders get off with a free pass, popping someone for 6 over because they're passing through your small town and probably won't return to fight the ticket is excessive to me.
