Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

India Times has that image captioned:

A severely wounded unidentified man is carried away by Libyan men inside the US consulate compound in the eastern city of Benghazi, early on September 12, 2012. An armed mob protesting a film deemed offensive to Islam attacked the US consulate in Benghazi late on September 11 killing a US official, hours after angry Islamists stormed Washington's embassy in Cairo.

The NYPost has it captioned:

"Libyan civilians help an unconscious Chris Stevens, at the US consulate compound in Benghazi . Stevens and three of his colleagues were killed in an attack on the US consulate."

[–]brock_lee 5 points6 points ago

So, I guess they confirmed it. The doctor said he died from smoke inhalation so I guess that explains the lack of apparent injuries in the image. Earlier reports said "rocket attack on his car", which would make you think he would have been ... less than pristine.

Furthermore, that NY Post article noted that it was a group of Libyan civilians (probably the ones pictured) who drove him to the hospital. Nobody knew who he was, not even the doctors, who failed to revive him and he was declared dead shortly after.

Yes- the scene was so chaotic that the Americans couldn't even keep track of their own ambassador and get him medical attention. Libyan bystanders did that. So for those commenters hating on Libyans right now, get informed before you open your mouth.

Really for fucks sake, a movie offends you so you go out and burn shit and kill people.

"Let's get violent and fuck shit up because a movie portrayed us as being violent and fucking shit up" - Middle Eastern Muslim logic

[–]matidaou[S] 3 points4 points ago

Came across this on Twitter, some guy in a local TT has posted it as "Picture of the killed US Ambassador". I haven't seen it anywhere else, so wanted to check with the Reddit community.

Huffpo had a couple of pics earlier.

Can we get a NSFL tag or something?

[–]hefnetefne 4 points5 points ago

Sweet fucking christ. I don't know why our government has such a boner for the middle east; I'd want absolutely nothing to do with that society.

[–]Guy-Manuel 12 points13 points ago

It's the oil. They have a boner for the oil.

[–]Scottolan 1 point2 points ago

They must love foreign oil because they sure as hell aren't taking advantage of all the oil here in the US. US oil permits are down 36% under the current administration... The gov't refused to reissue oil permits for offshore rigs for several years and eventually relinquishing but only issued a handful of permits.

[–]kalyco 6 points7 points ago

I don't have issue with them not reissuing oil permits for offshore rigs. What happened in the Gulf Coast will have residual effects for years to come. We need to figure out a way to create energy without completely destroying our natural environment.

I personally went and viewed the damage form the deep horizon platform. that was one of the worst man made tragedies seen in the gulf coast area.. but that's just it.. it was the worst one.. if done properly it's very safe.. and if it can make us less dependent on foreign oil.. the better.. I think it's Brazil imports 0 oil, they use only what their country can make and their gas is cheaper than anywhere else.. Problem is the higher the gas prices the richer the gov't gets. So the US Gov't has 0 incentive to lower gas prices but plenty of incentive to artificially inflate costs..

[–]TheMostFurious 1 point2 points ago

The problem with the concept of tapping our own oil in order to reduce gas prices is that it just doesn't work that way.

When crude oil is harvested anywhere, even from an offshore rig in the USA, that oil goes on the global market where it is sold at market price.

You could make the argument that increasing the worldwide supply of oil would lower that market price, however, but that decrease wouldn't last for long. Our demand for oil is skyrocketing and our supply is just not keeping up with that demand because oil is not a renewable resource and we're simply running out of it.

[–]flamingboard 2 points3 points ago

You use up everyone elses oil first and try to fuck their shit up as much as possible during the process therefore making us the winners.

[–]GreenStrong 0 points1 point ago

US oil production has been in decline for 35 years. The oil fields that are still being discovered are smaller, have lower grade oil, and are harder to access. Less regulation won't solve the oil import problem, there isn't much around here to pump, compared the the amount we use.

Maybe we should accept some environmental damage in return for a bit of political security. It would certainly employ a good number of people, as it takes more workers to drill a dozen low production wells as it does one good one. But anyone who tells you "drill baby drill" is the answer is lying to you, most of the oil has already been burned.

i didn't know James Woods was an ambassador

[–]Suck_Jons_BallZ 1 point2 points ago

Dude, this is Jimmy Wood's twin.

[–]deathcapt 1 point2 points ago

NSFW holy shit, it's a dead guy.

[–]effektd -2 points-1 points ago

He was a well known eve player, however, I'm not sure this is him.

[–]up2late 3 points4 points ago

Sean Smith (a DoS IT guy in Libya) was a well know EVE player, not the Ambassador. I'm not sure if thats the Ambo but it's not Sean.
