A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

04/15/1912. Never forget.

[–]Xevv 64 points65 points ago

Never forget what now?

[–]Draggedaround 59 points60 points ago

What aren't we forgetting?

[–]McBurger 81 points82 points ago

Alamo, dude.

[–]on_the_redpill 32 points33 points ago

Reminds me of the tweet, "whoa! Titanic was real, not just a movie!"

[–]went_figure 9 points10 points ago

It's a movie? I thought it was just an inflatable bouncy thing.

[–]el___diablo 0 points1 point ago

It's a George Lucas production.

When the movie is released, this is an important comedic scene where jar jar binks drowns.

[–]oxhappyhourxo 0 points1 point ago

Yea but the movie is based in the inflatable bouncy thing.

[–]LordOfTheAmish 14 points15 points ago

Please dont let the same thing happen with 9/11 in 50 years

[–]Zuke88 23 points24 points ago

no it wont it just will be another Pearl Harbor americans never forget what happens to them but they do seem to forget what they do to others.....

[–]Randomacts 17 points18 points ago

There are others?

[–]BioHazardEX 13 points14 points ago

Don't listen to him, the rest of the world is a myth. Like unicorns or the Japanese.

[–]SIOS 0 points1 point ago

You mean that Ben Affleck movie?

[–]Creator_Of_All -1 points0 points ago

I am horrible at History, & even I know that.

[–]Harkonen_inc 2 points3 points ago

This is 'murica, we tend to accidentally a lot of important history.

[–]rasputine 2 points3 points ago

"War of eighteen what?"

[–]sojalemmi 2 points3 points ago

Was that the winner of the first Kentucky derby?

[–]meno123 5 points6 points ago

A horse?

[–]obilex 1 point2 points ago

THERE'S NO BASEMENT IN THE ALAMO!!!

[–]Who_Sharted 0 points1 point ago

"Remember the Alamo!"

"No seriously, remember the alamo, I need to return this car by 5"

[–]yaredw 6 points7 points ago

Uh...fuck.

[–]GETTING_ABDUCTED 4 points5 points ago

You so silly. We aren't forgetting that thing. You know...the one that happened?

[–]HonestAboutExpertise 0 points1 point ago

Dinosaurs, bro.

[–]P1h3r1e3d13 2 points3 points ago

The Gunpowder Treason.

[–]johnsmcjohn 18 points19 points ago

The 100 year anniversary already passed? Dammit, I forgot. :(

[–]silverscreemer 8 points9 points ago

There were some specials on the TV.

[–]asphyxiateme 16 points17 points ago

And a 3D movie release in theaters. Yet they still didn't see the iceberg coming.

[–]Skinnj 13 points14 points ago

The iceberg was in 3D too back in 1912.

[–]freerangehuman 0 points1 point ago

too s~ nvm...

[–]fortrines 3 points4 points ago

Titanic's PR team ain't got shit on the Alamo's.

[–]ForgettableUsername 2 points3 points ago

At least nobody's making fun of the Andrea Doria.

[–]Sweet-Action 0 points1 point ago

No everyone, you guys are idiots. The Magna Carta was obviously signed this day.

[–]TheMusto 0 points1 point ago

Got a feeling I forgot something.

[–]Garzaster 76 points77 points ago

In class we watched a film of the Hindenburg crashing. The famous line "...oh, the humanity!..." came up and some girl laughed.

[–]AThuggishPrime 0 points1 point ago

I'm not actor savvy, but he sounds like the chicken guy. From Al's Toy Barn. From Toy Story 2. Is that him?

[–]meno123 2 points3 points ago

imdb is your friend- Wayne Knight

He was the voice of Al the Toy Colletor in toy Story 2.

[–]silverscreemer 12 points13 points ago

Did you know that he didn't actually talk like that? It sounds funny because the speed on the audio is wrong.

[–]flowercup 0 points1 point ago

I've never thought about blimps for so long in my life.

[–]Mrpeng1 31 points32 points ago

I have one that's worst. We were watching a 9/11 memorial in class today, and a man was telling a story about how his brother died; the man telling the story started crying half way through, and a person in my class started making fun of him. Nobody laughed except for someone sitting right next to him.

[–]themightyscott 13 points14 points ago

Right, people of the internet - worst and worse mean two different things. "One that's worst" does not work in any way whatever. It is "one that's worse" or "one that is the worst".

Differentiate!

Sorry, I know this isn't the time or place to get annoyed about this, but there really is a certain something I call "internet grammar" where people seem to have picked up on other's mistakes and it has propagated like Influenza.

[–]kartuli78 4 points5 points ago

Fuck you prick! Just kidding! I just thought you were expecting some backlash and I didn't want to let you down.

[–]themightyscott 2 points3 points ago

Thanks man, fuck you back!

[–]P1h3r1e3d13 2 points3 points ago

That was the worse way to make friends!

[–]eifersucht12a 23 points24 points ago

There's always that one little cunt with a friend that can be best described as a "sidekick". The bully or antagonist always has one in the cartoons or movies and you'd think that shit was just a fictional archetype but it's not. Those little bastards and their counterparts exist. Asshole kids, and a lesser, typically smaller asshole kid who has already reduced his being to that of a "yes" man.

[–]WarPhalange -1 points0 points ago

Probably his loser friend he was trying to impress.

[–]eifersucht12a 4 points5 points ago

The genuine distress in the man's voice was always so haunting to me, but I never got "Oh the humanity". It means nothing but near-gibberish to me. Can somebody explain?

[–]gloomdoom 0 points1 point ago

That would be a general lament in a time of distress to acknowledge the potential for lost lives...a popular expression of that time. I suppose the best way to dissect it is a call for acknowledging the human aspect of a situation rather than the other aspects.

[–]AndRizzo 0 points1 point ago

Not sure if I should downvote because of the girl's reaction or upvote for reasons deemed necessary

EDIT: Long-windedness, Upvote

[–]Kelvara 1 point2 points ago

The video doesn't phase me, but the guy's voice is a bit chilling in how emotional he gets.

[–]Drenks 3 points4 points ago

I'll help you, not only were there only 97 people on board, only 35 died. A tragedy, but leagues below what it seems.

[–]chickenkitty 616 points617 points ago

[–]bhtitalforces 209 points210 points ago

Not cool, bro. At least not for another 89 years.

[–]REDDIT- 127 points128 points ago

Then you really aren't going to like this. New Yorkers:

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a-OH SHIT IT'S A PLANE.

[–]focom 28 points29 points ago

[–]CoolHeadedLogician 3 points4 points ago

goddamnit i want that bird whistle

[–]Rokkjester 10 points11 points ago

I never understood why everyone was excited over a fucking bird or a plane. You fucking live in metropolis!

[–]chickenkitty 17 points18 points ago

Ping me then.

[–]Scarbane 7 points8 points ago

PING!

[–]WeakTryFail 1 point2 points ago

10800000ms

[–]basec0m 3 points4 points ago

Yeah, we'll circle back for some synergistic discussion about metrics and vision. Just need to go back to my office for some "I hate myself" time.

[–]McBurger 0 points1 point ago

Could've sworn it was 22.3 years... or maybe it was tree fiddy. Ah well, both numbers from same show

[–]TheOneAboveAll 2 points3 points ago

Actually according to South Park, it takes 22.3 years for a tragedy to become funny. So we have to wait for another 11.3 years for it to become funny.

[–]l30 69 points70 points ago

This is the comment Reddit deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

[–]siegewolf 0 points1 point ago

Thank you for using ytmnd. Brought back memories.

[–]MrShow 6 points7 points ago

Tragedy + Time = Recreation

[–]nevernotwithoutawig 1 point2 points ago

Tragedy = Recreation - Time

So quit running around!

[–]dkim95 10 points11 points ago

This will get reposted as [FIXED].

[–]apextek 20 points21 points ago

look how far we've come. 100 upvotes, 11 years ago those same people would have punched you in the eye over that joke

[–]chickenkitty 16 points17 points ago

[–]apextek 6 points7 points ago

nailed it

[–]ramlol 2 points3 points ago

It's....glorious.

[–]imtrew 1 point2 points ago

[–]RICH_LITTLE 133 points134 points ago

I was at a Disney company picnic once in SoCal where they had one of those. It was not tethered to the ground at all, and a gust of wind blew it over. Several people got hurt. I tried grabbing one of the loose tethers to prevent it from toppling, but wound up with rope burns on my hands instead.

[–]menomenaa 66 points67 points ago

probably one of my favorite mild stories

[–]nicoleisrad 76 points77 points ago

You're a true hero.

[–]volt1up 56 points57 points ago

Never Forget.

[–]Rational-Insanity 11 points12 points ago

[–]zen_monkey 1 point2 points ago

Same person, 2 accounts?

[–]Rational-Insanity 8 points9 points ago

No, Rich Little is doing what Trapped in Reddit got caught doing. He's using karma decay to find the top comment from the last time a link was submitted, and then posts it as if he came up with it.

[–]pathary 0 points1 point ago

/r/justiceporn needs you friend.

[–]Omegle 3 points4 points ago

Thats what she said...

[–]P1h3r1e3d13 -1 points0 points ago

Oh the humanity!

[–]long_time_stalker 30 points31 points ago

In real life. Number 3 in my 'stuff you only see in America' album from a trip last year. Seen at a 4th July party at a church.

[–]bloodfail 13 points14 points ago

We have these in NZ. I see at least several a year. They're fucking fun too!

[–]kingster20 3 points4 points ago

Whereabouts did you see them?

[–]Sokaii 4 points5 points ago

Not far from where I live we have a yearly Agriculture and Pastoral shows and they usually spring up there.

[–]fraseyboy 2 points3 points ago

Christchurch A&P show ALWAYS has one. Went on it as a kid, was pretty cool.

[–]Fruit-Salad 0 points1 point ago

Whenever I see "NZ" or "New Zealand" on reddit I feel warm inside.

[–]drink_your_milk 2 points3 points ago

How do you get to the top? I assumed from the first pic there must be stairs at the back, but apparently not.

[–]where_are_my_pants 5 points6 points ago

The middle part is a tunnel.

[–]FreddyandTheChokes 0 points1 point ago

Are those people in line to try it, or is it holding an audience because it's a fantastic public speaker?

[–]spitdragon 10 points11 points ago

On a similar note, i cant wait til 2045 when the Hitler mustache comes back in style.

[–]Maculous 1 point2 points ago

Some fads are simply lost to time...

[–]october23sp 7 points8 points ago

This reminds me of a "Titanic Swim Team" shirt I once saw someone wearing. In about 100 years will there be a "WTC Skydiving Team" shirt or something similar?

[–]tii13 30 points31 points ago

upvotes for Minneapolis

[–]friarcrazy 31 points32 points ago

[–]Fabbyfubz 20 points21 points ago

[–]SkyWulf 0 points1 point ago

Damn, I wish us in Florida had something to be proud of...

[–]cIumsythumbs 14 points15 points ago

Turn that shame upside down. You're America's Penis after all.

[–]noordledoordle 2 points3 points ago

It sorta looks like a matte painting of Minneapolis rather than the real thing, which just makes picture this even weirder.

[–]rasputine 2 points3 points ago

[–]jgosche 3 points4 points ago

THE BACKSTREET BOYS!!!

[–]AstronautRock 2 points3 points ago

Fuck yeah mpls

[–]im_dum 37 points38 points ago

The Twin Towers Slide is gonna be so much longer! Can't wait.

[–]chickenkitty 60 points61 points ago

Too bad we cant ask the 3000 who already tried it how it was.

[–]eifersucht12a 15 points16 points ago

This is the kind of joke that's impossible to not contemplate. First of all, if you have a basic sense of humor and no reservations, you just have to admit it's fucking clever. But you grit your teeth as you upvote.

So many people fuck up dark humor by just saying needlessly offensive things that lack wit and are hardly jokes. This joke hits that perfect balance of cringe-inducing and damn clever. I want to pat you on the shoulder.

[–]robotlollipop 3 points4 points ago

You are giving that comment far too much credit.

[–]Sir_Von_Tittyfuck 31 points32 points ago

Once in a lifetime ride.

..I'm going to hell.

[–]insideman83 8 points9 points ago

You could say your jokes are... crashing and burning.

[–]siegewolf 1 point2 points ago

This humor is so very dark it is incredible. Bravo. It's sad that they died. I feel horrible for their families, but at least those people aren't suffering now.

[–]somepretentiousname 6 points7 points ago

Why does Minneapolis look like it's Photoshopped in the background?

[–]sargassum 4 points5 points ago

Because it is perfect. That's just how it looks, all the time.

[–]cIumsythumbs 6 points7 points ago

Awww Fuck. It's Minneapolis.

[–]cleric04 0 points1 point ago

Blame it on Target

[–]roque72 16 points17 points ago

Someone's birthday party on Sept. 11, 2101 is gonna be a ridiculous

[–]ThePinkPowerRanger 13 points14 points ago

A ridiculous what?

[–]FreshRight 4 points5 points ago

It's just a single ridiculous on the 'ridiculous' meter.

[–]roque72 4 points5 points ago

I accidentally a noun

[–]VoluptuousOrange 0 points1 point ago

It just hit me that I'll never see the day when 9/11 jokes, toys, and rides become pc. I'm... Kinda sad.

[–]DollyPart-time 36 points37 points ago

national

Give me a fucking break.

[–]what_am_i_looking_at 18 points19 points ago

yeah, which nation are we talking here?

[–]Enpoli 24 points25 points ago

Was it not a national tragedy for England?

[–]encima 4 points5 points ago

As well as all of the other people that weren't from England?

[–]scwt 8 points9 points ago

Atlantis

[–]mrcow1 -1 points0 points ago

1,502 deaths doesn't qualify as a 'national' tragedy?

[–]mountainfail 52 points53 points ago

I'd say it was an international tragedy since the passengers included many high profile people from around the world, was en route to New York from Southampton via France, and was built by a company in Northern Ireland (which still exists by the way).

[–]white_n_mild 4 points5 points ago

Wasn't that an international tragedy?

[–]seaside_runner 3 points4 points ago

International, if you please.

[–]Minds_i 7 points8 points ago

I can just picture Disney turning the "tower of terror" ride into the "towers of terrorism"

[–]eerbin13 2 points3 points ago

[–]moreorlessrelevant 3 points4 points ago

[–]knightofmars 2 points3 points ago

inorite? I'm an adult and I also love to swim through the sea of balls.

[–]SpinachandSon 0 points1 point ago

Difference is, the Titanic was glamorous, exciting, and attractive. 9/11 is a totally different story.

[–]borny1 1 point2 points ago

a national tragedy

national

lol wat

[–]westdonkeykong 1 point2 points ago

Holy shit, I went on this as a kid at Niagara Falls.

[–]mwproductions 0 points1 point ago

When I first saw one of those, I couldn't believe it. I took a picture of it. I probably still have the picture somewhere.

[–]MUSKY96 1 point2 points ago

In all fairness, this was my favorite part of the movie as a kid

[–]evolvish 1 point2 points ago

We used to be able to afford one of these to rent in our town, was my favorite thing ever... They god rid of it because it offended someone or something.

[–]KimJongUnbelievable 0 points1 point ago

i had one of these at my high school grad party.

[–]W360 1 point2 points ago

Life Sucks

[–]CosmicToaster -1 points0 points ago

The funny part for me is that I actually work for a place than rents these out...

[–]TalkingBackAgain 0 points1 point ago

General rule: everything ever will turn into entertainment at some point.

[–]emko91 0 points1 point ago

I actually went on one of these in a street festival in Brisbane when I was about 11 (I'm now 21). I remember Dad saying "Is that okay?!" And me just thinking "awww yis. Motherfucking jumping castle/slide"

[–]risklight 1 point2 points ago

so we can expect a twin tower giant slide after 90 years?

[–]NoBullet 0 points1 point ago

it looks like a cgi mock up?

[–]m_bird13 1 point2 points ago

50 years: six flags twin towers experience

[–]oviedofuntimes 0 points1 point ago

Needs some miniature airfilled lifeboats

[–]rhtiin 0 points1 point ago

I saw one of these that had a ice burg right next to it.

[–]HandeyOJack 0 points1 point ago

They had this set up at a church fund raiser near my house a few years ago. What a great way to celebrate the love of our lord and savior!

[–]JupitersClock 1 point2 points ago

Just wait for a theme park ride like tower of terror.

[–]Epistemology-1 0 points1 point ago

Not actually a national tragedy.

[–]coelomate 0 points1 point ago

Big difference between a natural disaster and an attack.

[–]sbrelvi 0 points1 point ago

So in about 90 years or so there will be rock climbing twin towers?

[–]ahhh457 1 point2 points ago

This slide was actually in my hometown in Northern Ireland, about 20 miles away from where titanic was built. It's been there for years but no one gave a slight fuck to this year...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-17756036

[–]go_betty_go 0 points1 point ago

Weeeeeee!

[–]bahaki 0 points1 point ago

My old lady's niece had one of these (bouncer/water slide) for her kid's birthday party. Took us a while to realize what it was.

[–]ForgettableUsername 1 point2 points ago

We're already approaching the point where it would be ok to have a Nazi-themed play structure.

[–]bizarromonkey 1 point2 points ago

At what point did someone sit down and think that was actually acceptable...

[–]emythestrange 1 point2 points ago

They have this at my county fair each year. I mentioned it to some friends recently and they didn't believe it was real.

[–]Cantfindafuckinusern 1 point2 points ago

They need to set it up at the side of a pool and have people slide into the water :D

[–]thefinalfall -1 points0 points ago

European national tragedy.

[–]eddywi11 0 points1 point ago

I've definitely been on that slide as a kid. My local Dairy Queen pumped that bad boy up for a weekend and it brought in quite the crowd. I never thought anything of it. My parents bought a shat load of ice cream for the whole family during the time too. it's just kind of messed up to think that all things, no matter how tragic, just take time to be desensitized.

[–]ARMIGER1 0 points1 point ago

Didn't Enron have one of these at their last company party?

[–]SirRonaldofBurgundy 0 points1 point ago

It's not going to happen with 9/11, simply because the Titanic was a great tragedy of human hubris, whereas 9/11 was a tragedy of malice.

[–]im_too_literal 0 points1 point ago

There's a huge difference between the two. The Titanic was not directly caused by a human as a deliberate act of malice; it was caused by an iceberg as an unfortunate act of nature.

[–]rrtaylor 0 points1 point ago

The irony(?) kills me in retrospect but when I was in about the fifth grade somebody's birthday party at a local fun center had one of these: I swear to God it became detached from the air pump keeping it inflated and it actually started rapidly deflating while a bunch of kids were at the top. They all came crashing down screaming and one kid was hurt bad enough that the fun-center gave him some kind of free gift certificates or something as a hush payment/out-of-court settlement. I actually got scolded by one of the chaperones because I kept loudly speculating about a potential lawsuit in the dazed aftermath.

[–]argv_minus_one 0 points1 point ago

Time heals all wounds (except the ones who are dead).

[–]Trinkabell 0 points1 point ago

Too soon.

[–]katsden 1 point2 points ago

Seriously, I've always thought this was horrible.

[–]TheBizkit 0 points1 point ago

I remember there being a South Park episode that talked about tragedies becoming funny after so many years.

[–]codyjoe 0 points1 point ago

I have seen these before and I think its disrespectful especially to the older people who may have lost grandparents in this tragedy.

[–]mercury888 0 points1 point ago

too soon?

[–]Fgame 0 points1 point ago

Wouldnt it be more of a bungee jumping kind of thing?

[–]Stormagedon44 0 points1 point ago

wouldn't this actually be an international tragedy?

[–]DarkTwister 0 points1 point ago

Twilight in my heart! <3

[–]liquidflux 0 points1 point ago

Wonder when they're gonna make one with dual slides as the twin towers.

[–]Cafuzzler 1 point2 points ago

I can't tell which nation this was more of a tragedy to but i'm gonna guess Ireland.

[–]LilPepper 0 points1 point ago

Time heals all wounds.

[–]foghunt 0 points1 point ago

When I was a kid I loved this "ride".

[–]bigmike00831 -1 points0 points ago

That one was on the French.

[–]missmaggy2u 0 points1 point ago

o.o I wonder... if bouncy things in the future will look like... I can't even say it. So not funny. Why was I never offended by this before? Now that I look at it, it pisses me off!

[–]Snarfbuckle 0 points1 point ago

So...Twin Towers jumping castle with a before and after they fell in about 2101?

And most likely a rollercoaster somewhere as well...

To soon?

[–]foundation_G -1 points0 points ago

the titanic had nothing to do with america, only that it was coming here. it was built in Ireland and funded by the British.

[–]dismay66 0 points1 point ago

Ha! I saw this at this year's Los Angeles Gay Pride Parade.

[–]SexualArtillery 0 points1 point ago

need wtc version

[–]Xenocerebral 1 point2 points ago

I'm quite sure that was an INTERnational tragedy.

[–]lydocia 0 points1 point ago

Only ninety years to go, and we'll have twin towers jumping castles!

[–]LetsGetRealWeird 0 points1 point ago

but leo is still alive so it's all good.

[–]DucWolfe 0 points1 point ago

If that guy puffed his chest out any further he'd snap his back.

[–]gloomdoom 2 points3 points ago

There were passengers from 44 different countries, from six different continents. Britain lost the most in terms of nationality but America was only 21 passengers behind. The ship went down closer to north America than it did Europe in international waters so it's safe to say this was an international tragedy. And yes, it's in bad taste.

I guess the general rule is that when all survivors of a tragedy have passed and the. The children of the survivors pass, people think it's fair game in terms of using it as some kind of joking manner?

Way different than 9-11 though. Titanic sank at the hands of nature and fate; the towers went down at the hands of terrorists so maybe it will be granted some kind of respect that the titanic doesn't get.

[–]OMGITEXPLODED 1 point2 points ago

Oh my god I hope my grandchildren get to jump out of inflated World Trade Center bouncey-towers.
