I like how he said "Everybody started coughing, even the professor", as if the professor should have some sort of special professor power that prevents that.

[–]TwoLegsJoe 152 points153 points ago

"Your mace can not hurt me! I'M THE PROFESSOR!"

[–]betterthanastick 118 points119 points ago

I have a PhD in MACE RESISTANCE

[–]WalrusMaximus 7 points8 points ago

Holy shit. This gave me an audible chuckle.

[–]npr95 5 points6 points ago

My sentiments exactly

[–]Neosilver 1 point2 points ago

My thoughts:

Oh, a mace as in the weapon probably.

NOPE, Mace Windu

[–]WhatTheFhtagn 3 points4 points ago

You can not burn me either! I do not have time to combust!

[–]BreakRulesGetCoins 1 point2 points ago

Now that's a good Timelord name.

[–]oldsecondhand 2 points3 points ago

Professor X?

[–]Chazzey_dude 1 point2 points ago

"PROFESSORRRR SMASH!

[–]StealthGhost 6 points7 points ago

Maybe it's Professor X, how do YOU know?

[–]Nyarlathotep124 4 points5 points ago

The professor has a psychic shield, is that close enough?

[–]Train22nowhere 3 points4 points ago

Well to be fair if it's a 300 seat lecture hall the professor is usually a ways away from everyone. Stadium seats and he'd be in the frount.

[–]SoFaKiNg42 4 points5 points ago

If there was any time for a "cartoons your comment" or "sketches your comment" this would be an awesome image

[–]jhmartin 6 points7 points ago

Forget the bad joke, that girls needs a good punch to the throat. Someone could have died.

[–]eleze 75 points76 points ago

no. just no. no. nonononononono. no.

[–]Vouk73 164 points165 points ago

Rape joke. Hilarious.

[–]CitizenPremier 89 points90 points ago

Rape isn't funny. Unless you get raped by a clown. And even then, it feels like the laughs are forced.

[–]oD3 17 points18 points ago

Now that is funny.

[–]indigoLady 1 point2 points ago

Agreed.

[–]ImAWhaleBiologist 8 points9 points ago

It's only truly funny if a clown rapes another clown.

[–]NothingtodohereOGW 5 points6 points ago

Welcome to my nightmares.

[–]FishBonePendant 4 points5 points ago

Needs better carpeting. And this light set-up is a joke.

Edit: Food floors.

[–]SwedishChef727 0 points1 point ago

mmmm batter

[–]FishBonePendant 0 points1 point ago

No home is complete without edible carpeting.

[–]Engineerthegreat 13 points14 points ago

At least unlike so many Facebook posts it wasn't "posted a few seconds ago"

[–]bobbybusche 8 points9 points ago

You can't say the same for OP's account.

[–]DR_McBUTTFUCK 3 points4 points ago

Ohhhh SNAP! He made that account just to post that picture.

[–]Fanta-stick 8 points9 points ago

And he never said this was his first post.

I like his style.

[–]Vouk73 -1 points0 points ago

Doesn't change a thing.

[–]gnovos 51 points52 points ago

Just about as hilarious as releasing chemical weapons agents into the ventilation system without knowing for sure if any of the students are asthmatic and might be at risk for fatal complications. If one's a prank then the other is too. Or they're both assault, and neither are actually funny.

[–]PonyPunch 37 points38 points ago

The latter.

[–]kentrel 13 points14 points ago

It's hilarious because it's not happening to us.

[–]yakityyakblah 3 points4 points ago

I'd rather be maced than raped any day.

[–]starten 6 points7 points ago

[–]gnovos 1 point2 points ago

Would you rather be maxed or told a bad joke?

[–]lucas42 0 points1 point ago

Both would be the worst.

[–]yakityyakblah 0 points1 point ago

No, one is pretty clearly worse than the other. Except like actually being beaten with a mace as one person pointed out, that'd be a strong contender for the top spot.

[–]lucas42 0 points1 point ago

You misunderstand, I meant that being both maced and raped would be so much worse than either one individually and we should dread the day that rapists learn to carry mace.

[–]MrHerpDerp 0 points1 point ago

Like so many funny things, once it's explained to you, it loses its appeal.

But yeah, dick move on her part, collectively disrupting ~300hrs of teaching time. With what students are paying now, I wonder what the bill would be.

[–]CTRL_ALT_RAPE 7 points8 points ago

ಠ◡ಠ

[–]brownpaperful 3 points4 points ago

Wow. What a terrible joke.

[–]kabomlamma 3 points4 points ago

til professors are supposed to be immune to mace

[–]fb95dd7063 1 point2 points ago

Edgy joke bro

[–]aayush07 11 points12 points ago

Seen by 7

How do i get that??

[–]The-Mathematician 10 points11 points ago

How do I disable it? I don't like people knowing what I've seen.

[–]Thefriendlyfaceplant 6 points7 points ago

The 4chan 'spam EA with hentai marathon' comes to mind.

[–]Scrawly 5 points6 points ago

If you post in a group feed, it'll have a counter showing how many people in the group have seen the message.

[–]Jess_than_three 38 points39 points ago

What the fuck is wrong with you? ಠ_ಠ

[–]Shagomir 61 points62 points ago

OH MY GOD THIS IS SO FUNNY.

Fuck you OP.

[–]Sevsquad 2 points3 points ago

Can you tell me why rape is the only thing people are not allowed to joke about? I mean people joke about murder, the mentally handicapped, torture, genocide and many other things much worse than rape, but for some reason that is okay but joking about rape isn't. It just seems ridiculous that people are not allowed to joke about rape when there are so many worse things that people laugh about.

[–]ArecBardwin 6 points7 points ago

Usually, people are bothered by things that hit too close to home. There are more people who have either been raped or know someone who has than people who have been murdered or tortured. I like all kinds of jokes, that's just my theory on why so many people dislike rape jokes.

[–]bobbieluvsya -1 points0 points ago

Bingo. You're not likely to make a murder joke to a murder victim any time soon.

As well, rape is one of those crimes that people are often really scared to speak out about. You're a lot more likely to know if your friend has been mugged or something than if they've been raped, even if you know them really well.

[–]ibowls -1 points0 points ago

Not to mention that 1 in every 4 women has been raped. Just saying it's not as "remote" as some people would like to think.

[–]pirate_chef 1 point2 points ago

Where did you get that statistic?

[–]notmytree 0 points1 point ago

Unfortunately, rape statistics can be pretty fuzzy because so many rapes go unreported. Statistics about reported rapes can be found here and statistics pertaining to victims here. It's probably safe to assume that these are conservative estimates given how many rapes are not reported. It really is much more prevalent than homicide.

[–]pirate_chef 3 points4 points ago

It's not funny if the joke is malicious. (And this one certainly is.)

Humor is a complex topic, though. (Unfortunately, so is rape.)

[–]JimmyHavok -1 points0 points ago

Because I might get laid if the right girl sees me being outraged by a rape joke.

Someday.

It could happen.

[–]gregclouds -1 points0 points ago

Some people don't just think with their penis like you.

[–]JimmyHavok 0 points1 point ago

Women! Right?

[–]rapist_sniffing_dog 0 points1 point ago

[–]kl1t 15 points16 points ago

[–]TheIllusiveMan 8 points9 points ago

'It's now very common to hear people say, "I'm rather offended by that", as if that gives them certain rights. It's no more than a whine. It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. "I'm offended by that." Well, so fucking what?' —Stephen Fry

[–]DoucheAsaurus_ 0 points1 point ago

I'm offended at people being offended too.

[–]spacetimemeatmachine 19 points20 points ago

Alright guys, once again, MOST RAPE JOKES ARE NOT FUNNY AND ARE HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE AND OFFENSIVE

I've been through many rapes, and this shit is obviously written by a person who has never even thought about the profound psychological and physical harm acts of rape can inflict upon people. Yes, I said people, because I know men are raped as well. As are trans* people.

Can we please just start realizing that callously joking about violent and hateful acts is not okay? Wanda Sykes manages to intelligently critique rape in this joke here.

TL;DR: Rape jokes are insulting and not funny unless you apply sensitivity to the subject.

EDIT: For all you assholes who are downvoting, I don't give a flying fuck. I am standing up for something I really am passionate about. If that means less imaginary internet points, I. DON'T. CARE.

[–]CrushTheOrphanage 5 points6 points ago

I probably have no right to say anything, and I'll probably catch a lot of flak for saying this, but I consider people using rape jokes acceptable under certain circumstances (more than just criticizing rape culture). People use rape as a punchline because they consider it the absolute worst thing you can do to a person. Most people who use rape in a joke aren't doing it because because they're marginalizing rape, but because it's the absolute worst thing they can think of to happen to someone.

For example, Louis CK does a joke about how he hates civic pride/rivalry, and that the only reason anyone should just hate a place is if everyone from that place gangraped their mom. It's not criticizing rape culture, but I think it has some merit because it's recognizing that rape is the absolute worst thing that can happen to someone, worse than assault, torture, murder, or anything else.

[–]throwAwayObama 29 points30 points ago

How do you feel about murder jokes?

[–]ouestlasouris 26 points27 points ago

"well now you can murder her because she's out of mace"

are you laughing?

[–]Lmkt 16 points17 points ago

I didn't laugh at the rape joke, not because it was a rape joke, but because it wasn't funny.

[–]imcontroversial 5 points6 points ago

I agree that rape jokes are offensive, but all you're proving here is that you don't understand jokes. The argument shouldn't be that rape jokes aren't funny; it should be that they aren't nice.

[–]TheMagicJesus 0 points1 point ago

I chuckled...

[–]lemoncholly -2 points-1 points ago

MOST MURDER JOKES ARE NOT FUNNY AND ARE HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE AND OFFENSIVE

I've been murdered many times and these jokes are obviously written by people who have never been murdered or even thought about the profound psychological and physical harm murder can inflict upon people.

[–]pirate_chef 0 points1 point ago

"You were murdered??!"

"...I got better."

[–]tunabuttons -1 points0 points ago

I don't know if you know this, but people don't survive murder, dude.

[–]throwAwayObama 0 points1 point ago

;‿;

[–]deyur 21 points22 points ago

For all you assholes who are downvoting, I don't give a flying fuck.

That you felt the need to edit this in would indicate otherwise?

[–]ImAWhaleBiologist 11 points12 points ago

I don't care. I DON'T FUCKING CARE AT ALL!

WHAT PART OF I DON'T CARE DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND GOD DAMMIT?

[–]Aromir19 -1 points0 points ago

Don't be afraid to not care a little bigger darling.

[–]Knuckledustr 15 points16 points ago

So you're passionate about rape. That's sick.

But seriously, I'm with you on that, I'll giggle at many inappropriate jokes, but that wasn't even tasteful, just "now you can rape her."

Dafuq?

[–]gnovos 13 points14 points ago

How do you feel about sociopaths assaulting dozens of innocent kids with pepper spray?

[–]ibowls 2 points3 points ago

Wrong. I feel it's wrong.

One thing wrong does not make the other thing right. How fucking narrow minded do you have to be to not understand that they both might be wrong?

[–]JimmyHavok 2 points3 points ago

I missed the part where somebody said raping her was right. If you think funny = right, then your career as a comedian is over.

[–]ibowls -1 points0 points ago

jesus christ you lot have some gaping holes in your understanding of things.

But I bet y'all are great comedians... so great, in fact, that you don't get what a "joke" is.

[–]JimmyHavok 2 points3 points ago

Dunning-Kruger in the house, yo!

[–]SamFuckingNeill -2 points-1 points ago

1 out of 300 enjoys pepper spray

[–]pirate_chef 0 points1 point ago

Agreed. A lot of these jokes are just "look-a me! I'm so edgy and inappropriate".

I've been through many rapes

Holy shit. Sorry to hear about that. Are there survivors who use humor to work through the pain? Feminism has been working very hard to impress society on the seriousness of rape, so I think that anything like that would be downplayed, though.

FWIW, I think that most of society considers rape to be very serious. BUT I also think that most people don't really realize what rape is (or fully appreciate what "consent" is).

[–]JaiWren 12 points13 points ago

Thank you

[–]anne_frank_porno 11 points12 points ago

You would have no problem with the joke if he said "Now you can murder her." Getting offended and butthurt over jokes like this does NOT prevent rape. Yes, I understand someone who has been through a traumatic experience might not want a reminder of it, but that doesn't mean I will tip toe through conversations out of fear of offending someone and certainly not on a public forum where people should be allowed to freely express themselves. What next? Let's not talk about coffee because one time my dad spilled coffee on himself while driving and crashed into a ditch and died. That's insensitive to what happened to my father.

And lastly, you do not get to decide what is funny. You didn't find it funny, others did. What you meant to say was that rape jokes are not funny to you. For that, I'm sorry. Note: I didn't find the joke funny and I think it's quite stupid, but that's not what is under discussion.

[–]CaptainMaybe 7 points8 points ago

This coming from someone who's username is anne_frank_porno... TIL some people have the social awareness of a mollusk.

Btw, you seem awfully vitriolic for someone who claims that people shouldn't be offended about things.

[–]Oh_My_Sagan 4 points5 points ago

Just because you [and others] find it funny does not make it not problematic.

/worded horribly

[–]anne_frank_porno 8 points9 points ago

Why is it problematic exactly? Because it offends people? Because lots of jokes offend people. Who gets to decide where the line is drawn? The only person who can control whether you get offended or not is the person getting offended.

It always amuses me when people talk about what offends them here, when racial and religious jokes are applauded and defended as avenues of free speech. But rape, oh god, as whites that's something we have to deal with and suddenly it's too far. Any line you draw will be arbitrary and based entirely on your own ethical standards.

[–]ibowls -2 points-1 points ago

when racial and religious jokes are applauded and defended as avenues of free speech

lol no.

[–]pirate_chef 1 point2 points ago

I didn't find the joke funny and I think it's quite stupid, but that's not what is under discussion.

What is under discussion? What's "socially acceptable"? You're free to make a joke, other people are free to be offended. You can't tell them not to be offended, any more than they can tell you not to make the joke.

[–]sick_burn_bro 3 points4 points ago

ITT: People using anecdotes to pretend that your viewpoint doesn't count.

Also ITT: People failing to grasp the concept of "Macing 300 people: not cool. Also, saying 'now you can rape her': not cool."

Apparently, you're only allowed to condemn 1. We have, like, condemnation units and must allocate them with ruthless efficiency.

[–]milksteakrare 7 points8 points ago

You've "been through many rapes"? Are you sure they were all legitimate?

[–]MsPrynne 14 points15 points ago

I see you heard about the latest political gaffe! And applying it to an actual rape victim, talking about how shitty it is to make rape jokes! Capital humor, chap!

[–]spacetimemeatmachine 6 points7 points ago

Boooooooooooo

[–]tvalladon -1 points0 points ago

Alright, once again, I DO NOT GIVE A FUCK WHAT YOU DO OR DO NOT FIND OFFENSIVE. Dark Humor is a part of humanity and will continue to be so. The world at large does not give a flying fuck about your fragile little feelings and you best learn to control them or the world is going to roll you.

[–]Knuckledustr 4 points5 points ago

This isn't dark humour, this is stupidity. It wasn't witty, it wasn't amusing, it was just "now you can rape her."

Tell me a good holocaust joke, rape joke, racist joke, I DON'T CARE, if it's funny, I'll laugh. That includes jokes about me. If it's funny, it's funny.

But that? No, that wasn't funny, it was just stupid.

[–]anne_frank_porno -2 points-1 points ago

You're ignoring the point, which is that the OP (of this thread, not the original post) was OFFENDED by the post because it was rape joke. There was never a call into question whether or not it was funny. I agree with you that it really wasn't funny or witty, but that's not the point now is it?

So what's funny is you actually agree with the person you replied to, who didn't even mention if he found this particular joke funny.

[–]Knuckledustr 0 points1 point ago

You must've missed something, as I was referring to the person I replied too only, who was calling this Dark Humour, which it isn't. It's the equivalent of saying "lol i rape you" and then expecting people to laugh. OP's views on this are irrelevant.

[–]Jess_than_three -1 points0 points ago

Yeah, it's not so much about "offensive" as it is "incredibly distressing to rape victims". So your first sentence should read like this,

Alright, once again, I DO NOT GIVE A FUCK HOW MUCH PAIN OR DISTRESS I CAUSE YOU.

[–]tvalladon -1 points0 points ago

I agree, the joke was in bad taste and was not funny, but the response from spacetimemeatmachine was.

Though I appreciate your attempt to rewrite my words into a context that make you feel better you are missing my point completely.

The fact that spacetimemeatmachine was raped sucks and the fact that stuff like that does happen sucks, the world would be a better place if stuff like this did not happen. However, that does not mean that her experiences should in any way dictate my or anyone else's humor, expression or speech.

There are lots of traumatized people in the world, should I now not find the idea of a dolphin attempting to rape a human funny just because it has happened to someone and I might hurt someone, somewhere, sometime?

[–]Jess_than_three -3 points-2 points ago

Actually, you've missed the point entirely, and that point is this: it isn't about "offense".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posttraumatic_stress_disorder

[–]tvalladon -2 points-1 points ago

Sounds like something that should be aired in the office of a licensed therapist, perhaps involving a psychologist and assisted with a dose of proper medication, not championed as a personal battle against rape jokes (sensitive or not) on the pages of /r/funny.

[–]Jess_than_three 3 points4 points ago

Yes, because how dare people try to get others to be respectful and not cause them harm. WHAT A BITCH

[–]tvalladon 2 points3 points ago

I do not know her enough to say if she is a bitch or not, I just think that her expectations of censoring the internet and what jokes are and are not acceptable because of her own experience is deluded at best and self-harming at worst.

[–]hollywoodxftw 3 points4 points ago

This.... so much this.

[–]spacetimemeatmachine -4 points-3 points ago

It's not "dark humor," it's being insensitive to victims and acting privileged because you don't know what it's like to be completely violated and find it difficult to trust an entire group of people through no fault of their own.

[–]tvalladon 1 point2 points ago

Acting privileged? Because I think is asinine to expect others other to stop joking about a topic just because you had a traumatic experience? Who exactly is acting privileged?

[–]spacetimemeatmachine -1 points0 points ago

I don't expect people to stop joking about rape. I would, however, enjoy it if they tried to look at whatever they're about to say from the viewpoint of the victim. Most people have no idea what goes on in victim's brains, thus, you have the "not-raped" privilege of not having to relive traumatic events and apply them in your day-to-day life.

The joke in the link has no tact or intelligence, and no compassion for the victim, thus it is offensive and distressing.

[–]gnovos 3 points4 points ago

The joke in the link has no tact or intelligence, and no compassion for the victim, thus it is offensive and distressing.

I'm confused, who exactly do you think is the "victim" here? Do you mean random redditors that this kid had no idea would ever read his comment? Or do you mean the people who were pepper sprayed? Or are you referring to the sociopath who maced dozens of people and deserves to stand trial for assault?

[–]tvalladon -2 points-1 points ago

Rape jokes from the viewpoint of the victim.. not sure those will catch on.

[–]ouestlasouris 3 points4 points ago

you CAN joke about rape. here are some GOOD examples: http://jezebel.com/5925186/how-to-make-a-rape-joke

this post is a BAD example of a rape joke.

read the link, educate yourself and you will see that things are not black and white. making jokes about rape can be funny, but this one just wasn't funny and really encourages a culture that liberally embraces rape as an ok thing.

surely you're not ok with that?

[–]dksprocket -1 points0 points ago

Wow I just about disagreed with everything she said. She's using some horrible strawman arguments in that long winded article.

The one thing do I agree with is that there's a distinction between making a joke that includes rape, but isn't making the person getting raped the butt of the joke are in a different category than jokes that do.

[–]Almanorek 3 points4 points ago

I think rape is awful, and should never happen, and I feel extremely bad for those who've been raped. I also, however, do respect humor. There is no line to be drawn. Offense is not given, it's taken.

[–]rapist_sniffing_dog 1 point2 points ago

[–]kentrel 1 point2 points ago

"Most rape jokes are not funny"

Okay, I'll bite, troll. Which ones are funny?

[–]Lufthavn 7 points8 points ago

The ones that are not forced.

[–]panzerschrekk 4 points5 points ago

spraying mace in the ventilation is ok, joking about rape is not? (this comment is like reddit -> logic? get out of here!)

[–]LowSociety 1 point2 points ago

No, it's not okay, but it doesn't justify urging someone to rape.

[–]gnovos 10 points11 points ago

No, it's not okay, but it doesn't justify urging someone to rape.

Think about it for a second. One, while in bad taste, is clearly a joke. The other is actually assaulting people in real life. Pepper spray is not usually deadly, but if someone had a lung condition, it could very well have been, and even if that were not the case, it's still a violent act of sociopathy. No matter how bad the joke is, actually attacking people is always much, much worse.

[–]Thefriendlyfaceplant 1 point2 points ago

Mace is a highly carcinogenic substance, spraying it over a large group of people increases the chances of at least one of them developing (lung)cancer as a result tremendously.

So yeah, now hold that notion up to a dude joking about rape. Hardly compares.

[–]samclifford 1 point2 points ago

The moment we live in a culture where people who are maced have their morality called into question and a huge portion of the population have to deal with being maced in their lifetime or living with the threat of being maced, sure.

[–]panzerschrekk 3 points4 points ago

JOKING about rape: http://youtu.be/9tn2EhGK5ok

[–]rapist_sniffing_dog 3 points4 points ago

[–]Aromir19 0 points1 point ago

Well its a good thing the thought police showed up to sort this out.

[–]Kalium 0 points1 point ago

I'm slowly approaching the conclusion that there is in that no such thing as any form of acceptable joke because there's always a way that someone can take offense.

I mean, what groups is it OK to be insensitive to? Perhaps I should just ask for a list. Might be easier. Is it still acceptable to mock those who don't understand puns and wordplay by engaging in such?

EDIT: Yeah, I figured people wouldn't like that. I do hold rather idiosyncratic views on humor. I think everything is funny. Moreover, I think humor and laughter are probably the only things that will save our collective sanity under the stress of living in the world with all its apparently insoluble problems.

This, of course, is a view unlikely to go over well with people who believe in being offended by what is intended to be humor. Just because you laugh at a joke doesn't mean you have to find it funny in the way it's intended to be. Sometimes laughing at the sad sack of crap telling the "joke" is more fun.

[–]astuteduck 1 point2 points ago

The only issue really, is this isn't even funny. If you find this funny I bet you that you wont in 6 months. Its not even an attempt at humour, its not witty, not a pun, no wordplay.

[–]Thefriendlyfaceplant 1 point2 points ago

I found it funny. It's suggesting that the only thing that standing between her being raped by hordes of student is her bottle of mace. You know, like a horror movie where the flashlight battery gives up.

Then again, I think appropriateness has nothing to do with the quality of the humor. There's some pretty good holocaust jokes which I like even though my granddad told me excruciating stories from his days in the camps.

[–]astuteduck 2 points3 points ago

I would agree that appropriateness has nothing to do with quality of humour, I just think the quality of this joke is very low. As /u/spacetimemeatmachine mentioned, intelligent jokes, those are more acceptable and amusing. I love dark humour, but I find what makes dark humour funny is in the presentation and the wit behind the joke. To me this comes across as just a crass and not all that funny.

[–]Thefriendlyfaceplant -1 points0 points ago

Fair enough. An inappropriate joke doesn't automatically ensure good humor either.

[–]astuteduck 1 point2 points ago

Why is it whenever I have any sort of discussion with people on this site I always end up having some sort of an agreement on points with the person.

My issue wasn't so much as it being a rape joke or inappropriate, more the fact I found it bad.

[–]fb95dd7063 0 points1 point ago

ITT butthurt redditors don't like being told that they're shitbags.

[–]Lmkt 2 points3 points ago

EDIT: For all you assholes who are downvoting, I don't give a flying fuck. I am standing up for something I really am passionate about. If that means less imaginary internet points, I. DON'T. CARE.

Yeah... We can totally see that you "DON'T. CARE."

[–]dksprocket -1 points0 points ago

You should check out this guy. I think you'll like him.

Can we please just start realizing that callously joking about violent and hateful acts is not okay?

Some people use laughter as a coping mechanism, but I see what you mean. I don't think it likely that any rape victims would start joking about it, perhaps only people who can't comprehend it.

That's a bit strange now I think about it actually, why do humans joke about terrible things in general when it only aids those who do terrible things by making it appear as though it's no big deal?

[–]TaseT -1 points0 points ago

Have you been raped?

[–]ohnoimrunningoutofsp -3 points-2 points ago

omfg stfu

[–]nothing_new_42 0 points1 point ago

Thank you. <3

[–]BurntTheToast 9 points10 points ago

ITT: everybody bitching about a joke.

[–]Lovebeard 5 points6 points ago

Hey, fuck you. You don't know how bad my butt is hurting after reading that.

[–]ArecBardwin 3 points4 points ago

If your butt hurts after rape jokes, is that considered muscle memory?

[–]PeanutButterChicken 1 point2 points ago

I dunno. It just wasn't a very good joke...Zero effort.

[–]rapist_sniffing_dog 0 points1 point ago

[–]HeizenDerper 6 points7 points ago

So many butthurt people bitching because the notion of rape is involved in this joke? Get the fuck off the internet.

[–]rapist_sniffing_dog 0 points1 point ago

[–]HeizenDerper 1 point2 points ago

Thanks for that, it got me thinking. I think the hypothetical was mostly bullshit based on misrepresented statistics, but I learned something nonetheless.

[–]HeizenDerper -1 points0 points ago

Maybe I should have been clearer. I don't believe because i have over 20 friends, that one of them has to be a rapist. I'm not saying the statistics provided are not correct, however I doubt you can take 20 people from any one section of the population all over the world, and have a rapist in there. I admit I am bias, however I highly doubt my group of relatively sheltered friends is chocked full of rapists.

[–]themedicman 1 point2 points ago

Hey everybody just a quick tip, rape jokes reinforce rape culture and make actual rapists think rape is okay. If you make rape jokes, especially on a widely-viewed place like reddit, you're indirectly reinforcing/encouraging actual rape. So cut it out.

[–]ouestlasouris -1 points0 points ago

Fucking rape joke AGAIN if anybody knows that kid tell him it's not funny.

Dare him to go rape her. If you replace rape with: murder, bludgeon, assault, lynch etc. the joke is STILL not funny. He made the victim (the girl) the butt of the joke where it's funny that a man can go violate her body.

Not fucking funny.

[–]ComputerJerk 17 points18 points ago

The joke is not the action of rape itself, the joke is that in using her defense tool to assault other people needlessly, she has in a twist of fate made herself vulnerable to an attack whether it be as a consequence of her actions or not.

Nobody is saying the act of rape is funny, just like dead babies are not funny. But dark and inappropriate humor is not a mechanism by which we justify horrendous actions, instead we find subtleties and expose them for humorous affect and juxtapose those subtleties against the obviously dark nature of the subject matter for emphatic effect.

[–]MrMastodon 13 points14 points ago

If he actually rapes her then its not funny. If he doesnt, then we can laugh if we so choose. Now fuck off back to SRS.

[–]dksprocket 2 points3 points ago

| He made the victim (the girl) the butt of the joke where it's funny that a man can go violate her body.

The "victim"?

Are you fucking kidding me? She maced 300 people and you call her the victim?

[–]AFRO_PIXEL 1 point2 points ago

actually yeah they would be funny because they're hypothetical situations, not real ones, shes not really gonna get raped and no one was actually raped, so its funny, do you get how edgy jokes are done now.

laughing about an actual mans account of having his dick cut off isnt funny and yet a group of women giggled and laughed at it, one dude makes a joke about a hypothetical situation and everyone loses there shit.

[–]brootwarst -1 points0 points ago

why u so mad tho

[–]theLucubrator -1 points0 points ago

What? This is never ok, even if someone's kind of stupid. Seriously, we all have flaws. Is this going to be accepted as a valid argument? "She/he had a flaw(/flaws), so I raped them. Haha! They totally deserved it." You have flaws too--that first stone might get thrown at you.

[–]I_am_the_legit_Rmony 1 point2 points ago

You're serious right now?

[–]PixonNixonIxon 1 point2 points ago

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

[–]erryday_IAm_rustling -2 points-1 points ago

/r/Iam14andthisisfunny just got a tasty new submission. Thanks, brah!

[–]ohnoimrunningoutofsp -1 points0 points ago

I wonder how far I will have to scroll down to see all the people offended at the rape joke. Or is everyone too busy being offended about the 9/11 jokes still?

edit: I did not have to scroll down very far -_-

[–]webster21 1 point2 points ago

I got it in the face as a part of security training for the military. The military uses stuff 10X stronger

[–]slabby 3 points4 points ago

I imagine the high testosterone environment causes quite the buildup. You're lucky to be alive.

[–]quaste 0 points1 point ago

Well, the professor is the only one not interested in making up drama to end the lecture. Wait, maybe he is.

[–]Metaglyptos 1 point2 points ago

UCONN!!!

[–]Aaronmcom 0 points1 point ago

Wow, i want to hear more on the motive for this mace spraying

[–]Metaglyptos 0 points1 point ago

The article says it was an accident but doesn't make a direct reference as to where she sprayed it, only that it was during a class

[–]grumblesatlife 0 points1 point ago

Did she get charged as a terrorist?

[–]saralikescookies -1 points0 points ago

No fucking way! The first commenter is my cousin! What the hell!

[–]Gaff3rs11 0 points1 point ago

[–]saralikescookies 0 points1 point ago

[–]DannyBoi1Derz 0 points1 point ago

I'm assuming the girls name was Karma?

[–]dksprocket 0 points1 point ago

After that terrible rape joke I think it's time to watch some Jimmy Carr to settle down.

[–]GuessWho_O 0 points1 point ago

Just because mace is hot doesn't mean that 5 fire trucks can put if out.

[–]beerbitches -1 points0 points ago

Ohhhh! I so wanted to like that last comment I tried to click it and no bueno!

[–]powseeker93 0 points1 point ago

Just mace? That's it? Some D-bag sprayed FUCKING BEAR MACE on my dorm floor my freshman year before finals first semester. A nice welcome to Montana. We all left our floor for at least 3 hours while it aired out...

[–]pirate_chef 0 points1 point ago

I grimaced and almost clicked "Next", but decided to stay for the shitstorm in the comments.

[–]mememellie[!] 0 points1 point ago

How is that related to karma?

[–]QuestionC 1 point2 points ago

ITT feminists don't understand that something can be funny because it's inappropriate.

[–]rapist_sniffing_dog 3 points4 points ago

[–]pirate_chef 0 points1 point ago

ITT people don't understand that just because it's inappropriate, that doesn't make it funny.

[–]flappingumbrella -1 points0 points ago

Rape jokes are not cool, sorry, bro

[–]seste -2 points-1 points ago

Rape. I'm laughing on the inside, really.

[–]KrazyEyezKilla 1 point2 points ago

How many turds are in this punch bowl? Geez

[–]josiahpapaya -5 points-4 points ago

I think rape jokes are really tacky and classless. Normally I'd say they should never be told. However, I think this is an example of a rape joke that's actually witty and it should be okay to laugh. George Carlin, Louis CK and others often take on this subject. Joan Rivers will eat you alive if you heckle her for telling offensive jokes. I don't like when people use "rape" as a verb, like "oh god, we raped that team yesterday" etc. because the banality of it makes it seem like rape is no big deal or is an appropriate verb to use. This joke, however makes the connection between mace (a weapon) and rape (a sexual assault) and women (primary targets). Subversively, the context here does not legitimize rape in any way, but encourages us to think about rape, and make the connections humorously. I laughed, cause I knew it was wrong, but it was still witty.

[–]Kalium 9 points10 points ago

The obvious implication being that the lady only had the mace as some kind of defensive weapon. Now that she's foolishly spent it, she's relatively defenseless against the very things that prompted her to acquire defensive weaponry in the first place.

That's probably an accurate, if tasteless, assessment.

[–]teabean -2 points-1 points ago

People are allowed to say whatever the hell they want, but I expect a little more from even the second-to-front-page.
