I'm Scottish and I live in Glasgow. Tonight we had Chinese food for dinner, the day before that we had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding (very English), and the day before that it was Italian pizza.

In the past two weeks I've eaten chili con carne, chicken tikka, bagels, croissants, bacon double cheeseburgers, salad niçoise, muesli, fajitas, pretzels, macaroni cheese, nachos, hummus, Kalamata olives and a whole bunch of these tiny little crouton things imported directly from Israel.

You weren't living in Mumbai or Hokkaido or something. The majority of food in our shops and restaurants is not even vaguely Scottish, nor are the ingredients.

Was someone holding a gun to your head? Or were you under the impression protein shakes with water were a Scottish invention?
