Can anyone explain this one for me ?

CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THIS ONE FOR ME?

[–]sndzag1 1 point2 points ago

The whole ceremony, and the hats, and all the stuff looks and is (arguably) ridiculous. That's the joke. The Pope realized it.

Wulffmorgenthaler is awesome. I can recommend the top 100 section.

[–]NetworkGuyMN 28 points29 points ago

Why to the people in back look like dicks with arms?

[–]imaginary_deities 6 points7 points ago

Perhaps it's a subtle joke intended to imply that dicks attend church.

[–]Buildingkick -3 points-2 points ago

also here for same reason

[–]masuan189 2 points3 points ago

It's easier to draw.

[–]Dravloc -3 points-2 points ago

Came here to mention this

[–]sethpeck 10 points11 points ago

Is there something I'm missing, above and beyond the "Oh, shit!" expression on the Pope's face?

[–]Teamroze 8 points9 points ago

I think with silly it means the entire religion. It's the moment that the pope realises catholicism is really a bit silly. I think it's funny

[–]sethpeck 0 points1 point ago

That's what I got out of it too.

[–]asleeplessmalice 2 points3 points ago

I was thinking it was more the hat, really.

[–]oldjonnesy 0 points1 point ago

I think it's just the vibe of the thing, it's mambo, it's justice, its .. err the vibe ... And ... No, that's it it's the vibe.

[–]blushingtart 2 points3 points ago

The swinging whatever it's called with smoke coming out is supposed to be the silly part.

[–]sethpeck 3 points4 points ago

It's called a "censer", for burning incense.

According to anonymous interviews with many clergy, there's a significant chance that atheists outnumber believers in some church's clergy.

My grandfather went to seminary school and he was an atheist, it was just tradition for the first born Irish son to become a priest, and a lot of the kids who stayed (he left, hence why I exist) were also atheists who just sort of went "fuck it, it's an easy enough job."

[–]lekotar 0 points1 point ago

There's a huge chance that the "fathers" of religion like Abraham, Moses, Jesus (if they really existed) were sort of atheist too. Because they knew it was all a lie, they are the source of it. At the least the first people to tell a story of those people were non-believers writing fictitious stories.

I'm pretty sure people like Hubbard were non-believers who saw through the whole scheme but decided to build their own better scheme based on all the old schemes. It worked for Muhammad, didn't it?!

[–]2gig 0 points1 point ago

If Abraham and Moses were even real, they may have just been schizophrenics as opposed to liars.

[–]keeblur 8 points9 points ago

You don't think the Pope already knows it's silly? The facade they portray to others doesn't mean that's actually what they believe. The Vatican is one large puppet master.

[–]rahtin 2 points3 points ago

No different than CEO's writing their "mission statements" or making speeches about how "safety is our #1 priority."

They say whatever will make the stupid people think they're holy.

[–]Kebobz 3 points4 points ago

Wullfffmorgenthaler muthafuckaaa <3<3

[–]PKMKII 3 points4 points ago

I think it would have been funnier if it said "The moment the Pope realized why he couldn't find his pot that morning."

[–]Doctor_Clockwork 2 points3 points ago

[–]snatchenvy -2 points-1 points ago

He could have just crapped his pants/robe.

This is just a Danish strip... the comic part is lacking.

[–]jemini101 1 point2 points ago

If only this had happened from the very start. Oh what a wonderfull world this could be.

[–]blushingtart 2 points3 points ago

He probably realizes how silly it is. But he has a lot of power, so...

[–]Grindstone50k 2 points3 points ago

I would too, if I had a big gold throne...

[–]TexasHammer -3 points-2 points ago

I'm Catholic and I find this offensive. But I choose not to riot and storm a Danish embassy.
