A cartoon? Fictional Characters? How about NPH? Better proof. How about the already millions of homes that have raised well adjusted children with same sex partners. My daughter's friend has two mom's... both science teachers... in TEXAS.

Repost.

[–]jbaum517 26 points27 points ago

Absolutely nothing to do with atheism

[–]stone_solid 0 points1 point ago

neither does this subreddit, except in name alone

/r/trueatheism

[–]Kelsig -1 points0 points ago

I thought this subreddit used to only have one post and that was....

Is god real?

Nope.

Or was that something else?

[–]Necrocell 4 points5 points ago

You could at least wait a few days before reposting

[–]alittler 9 points10 points ago

Jesus had two fathers and he turned out to be a dick

Christians: 1

[–]ALkatraz919 3 points4 points ago

Then he was crucified.
Jews: 1

[–]Paralyzing 0 points1 point ago

"turned out to be a dick"? Why would you consider Jesus a dick?

[–]ThePrankMonkey 1 point2 points ago

Not just fine, Simba became King.

[–]RepostThatShit 2 points3 points ago

A King who literally hunts his own subjects to eat them. All the veggie-eaters should just rebel. Ain't that many lions in the pack.

Two entirely different subreddits, excuse me i forgot x-post.

[–]bmb564 0 points1 point ago

you're excused

[–]RSGxOhSweetJesus[S] 0 points1 point ago

And they're posted within the same hour.

[–]bmb564 0 points1 point ago

That's great! Congrats!

[–]Sprocketandgears 2 points3 points ago

Actually what is funny is that is just the logic employed by fundies. Congrulations, you've just ruined the Lion King for hardcore Christians because it promotes an unnatural lifestyle not in accordance with God's teaching.

[–]drossglop 1 point2 points ago

Also he spoke to his father in the sky for guidance.

[–]mrbananas 3 points4 points ago

He killed his uncle, clearly all children raised by homosexuals will slay their aunts and uncles. [/sarcasm]

[–]gamerholic 0 points1 point ago

*Two males

[–]GastonBastardo 1 point2 points ago

Actually, Simba was kind of a dick. And Timon and Pumbaa's "parenting" was a putting a carnivore on a diet of insects and singing a song about shirking your responsibilities.

[–]Jineran 1 point2 points ago

[–]breakwings 0 points1 point ago

Holy shit. You just proved the non existence of god... oh wait.

[–]stone_solid 0 points1 point ago

to be fair, they taught him to ignore his troubles, forget his past and everyone in it, and to in general say fuck it to the world. Then a woman entered his life and help him realize his rightful place in the world. Just saying, not the best example. ;-)

[–]CaveHusband 0 points1 point ago

Agreed.

[–]sweetsweetcoffee 0 points1 point ago

A lion and a wild bore are not 'men'. Also... I'm not sure what this has to do with religion.

OH WAIT KARMA!!!

[–]Kindoalkun -1 points0 points ago

What does male-to-male anal sex have to do with Atheism?

[–]frontseatdog 1 point2 points ago

Not two "men". Warthog and meercat IIRC.

Pretty sure there were a lot of supernatural references in that movie, so it's ridiculous to see it referenced positively in /r/atheism.

[–]of_no_relation 1 point2 points ago

The Lion King was Hamlet. In Hamlet there aren't religious references beyond ghosts (which could be construed as figments of Hamlet's imagination).

[–]frontseatdog 1 point2 points ago

I said supernatural, not religious. And while technically atheism doesn't exclude the supernatural, as a practical matter it does; I'm pretty sure supernaturalism is more in conflict with atheism than, say, moral issues regarding the LGBT community.

I don't know if you've watched it. Among other things, the dead king is shown looking down on his son often, giving the distinct impression of an afterlife. From that, a lot can be inferred and none of those inferences are easily compatible with atheism.

[–]Biggs180 1 point2 points ago

The movie your referring to has talking lions.

[–]frontseatdog 0 points1 point ago

*you're

Your reply has eight (or nine) words.

[–]bigmac1122 -1 points0 points ago

Except he was lazy until the women came into his wife to knock some sense into him.

[–]itsme0 1 point2 points ago

I like the theology in TLK more than Christian stuff.

I would like to think that my ancestors were watching me from above and able to help me in my life. Also, that when I die I become a part of the sky, something that every living thing from then on will se and I'll be able to help guide the world and see it change.

Or end up being a firefly that got... "stuck"

[–]swordmaster006[!] 1 point2 points ago

Actually, those two men kept Simba emotionally stunted and led him to a hedonistic lifestyle without purpose.

It wasn't until Simba talked to a baboon holy man and had a heavenly vision of his father that he did anything of worth.

[–]zunkenl33t 0 points1 point ago

Nice to see that /r/lgbt is leaking into here as usual. The fuck is wrong with the mods here?

[–]checksumfail -3 points-2 points ago

Please stop.

I could draw a cartoon where a child was raised by all the worst people from history and have him turn out fine because it's a fucking cartoon and I can make up what happens.

This shit makes us all look stupid.

[–]Kelsig -1 points0 points ago

No, you're fucking stupid.

The Lion King is a true story, how stupid is?

[–]Lunch3Box 0 points1 point ago

Wasn't Simba a lazy piece of shit who abandoned his Kingdom and left his subjects to the oppression of Scar for neigh on a generation? Didn't Simba run away from his problems and embrace a lifestyle and philosophy of 'Hakuna Matada' - no worries. Well the other lions have worries, the other subjects of his supposed 'kingdom' have worries.

Isn't it the girl lionness who shows up that convinces Simba to return and claim his birthright? To finally stand up and take the duty and responsibility of leadership seriously? If anything she's the hero of this story. Simba is a lazy shit and Timon and Pumba are his cowardly and enabling care-givers who should be heaped with scorn for their poor 'parenting'.

[–]CaveHusband 0 points1 point ago

It's a CARTOON movie!! He's not a lazy piece of shit...to mis-quote Jessica Rabbit, "...he's just drawn that way..."
