    Please some one tell me what is so great about being a bronie? Bronies seem like those guys who get friend zoned by those girls who wanna be with korean pop stars.

    EDIT: I was slightly joking about the whole kpop thing (going off of things I've witnessed people go though) but I'm really curious about this subculture.

    For the most part what I've seen were a lot of males trying to impress the opposite sex. I've never seen or met a guy who was actually into the whole bronie thing unless he was gay, mocking the subculture or a basement dweller.

    On the contrary, most bronies are straight males, of high school to college age. Most homosexuals I know hate it. This article provides a decent overview of what may appeal to some bronies. Strong, unique personalities with good voice acting; good, colorful animations, and tons of nostalgic references from that age range's childhood are the most common reasons, along with the cuteness.

    Too many to list, but some of the major references include Q from Star Trek (and Tribbles in an earlier episode), the Looney Tunes style by which Pinkie Pie hops around and penetrates the 4th wall, Spike fantasizing about a Lone Ranger-esque hero scene after Rarity is kidnapped by the Diamond Dogs, Twilight talks to herself in a manner similar to Golum from Lord of the Rings, music and scenes resembling horror films like Psycho, Terminator, and a Powerpuff Girls action scene in the season finale. However, there are also TONS of smaller references that usually pop up, such as James Bond, Alice in Wonderland, Skyrim, LOTS of looney tunes, The Big Lebowski, and Doctor Who. I think I'm missing a bunch, but that should be a decent start.

    Check out /r/mylittlepony and you'll get some good explanations to whatever you come up with. We're pretty welcoming of newcomers and outsiders. The ones who answered in a way you described are trolls, and probably don't even watch it. My Little Pony is very effective trolling material.

    Also, in my previous post I forgot to recommend an episode for you. It depends on your personality, but usually Lesson Zero is a winner. Return of Harmony is good if you're a trekie.

        It's the type of breed she is. Her name is Memebon, she is from Japan and has been an internet sensation for years! She is an exotic shorthair, which is a breed that is a mix of domestic shorthair and persian. Persians are brachycephalic, which is where Memebon gets the smushed face. Also, since her ears are folded down and the round cheeks/face there might be a Scottish Fold cat in the family as well. Memebon is adorable and perfectly healthy!

        It's not. For a website that consistently rails against corporate greed and other corrupt business practices, Reddit certainly seems tolerant of what I would call animal cruelty in this instance. Flat-faced cats aren't exactly natural survivalists due to breathing, eating, heart, and other problems, so breeders deliberately create these cats for the "cute" effect. In my opinion, this breed should be banned due to the fact that it's causing the animal unnecessary suffering for nothing more than an aesthetic effect.

          This is a Persian from Japan named Mimibon. I can't find the source but I first saw it on cuteoverload.com. It grew up to be just fine and healthy. I have two Persian myself and they have no trouble feeding themselves.
