What if Christian Rock was invented by the church to destroy Rock N Roll?

[–]reble02 9 points10 points ago

Sir this needs to be posted in the form of a meme as so

[–]Fidgetstic 0 points1 point ago

That doesn't explain As I Lay Dying.

[–]kff3434 0 points1 point ago

Its a conspiracy!

[–]NiteShadeX2 32 points33 points ago

Note the account name.

I'm going to rage if I see this on the front page in an hour. Hivemind, dont disappoint.

[–]brandon520 1 point2 points ago

I downvoted until I saw it. Upvote for getting me fired up.

[–]mastersoup 0 points1 point ago

it doesnt really matter. no one cares about the image. as far as i am concerned its all about comments. i hate king of the hill, and i see this as a "discuss christian rock music thread". pretty sure thats how most people see shit like this. you put way too much emphasis on the OP, while the real content is, and has always been the comments.

[–]Wozby 13 points14 points ago

i hate king of the hill

God dammit.

[–]NinjaToad 0 points1 point ago

Agreed.

[–]ElSenorSpooky 0 points1 point ago

It's how I see most posts. There's some Christian bands I actually like. Mainly because they're lyrics are open for interpretation to the listener.

[–]haxKingdom -4 points-3 points ago

lol another thread where it's massively upvoted obliviously by people who don't bother going to the comments, which are full about it being a repost.

[–]NiteShadeX2 3 points4 points ago

Its the "Curse of Default Subreddit." With 1million+ subscribers, theres always enough new blood pouring in that its "new & funny content worthy of an upvote" to them, and reposts to the rest of us.

Either way, front page here we come.

[–]ToastyRaichu 4 points5 points ago

I'll just wait until someone recommends a Christian rock band, there's always an exception

[–]lettheflowgo 6 points7 points ago

I recommend Skillet because loud.

[–]mastersoup 1 point2 points ago

as cities burn

admittedly, my favorite album by them is the album after their friend commited suicide, so its all very depressing, and actually its all about questioning faith.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JSfkeiiFcg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mmumAfQDRY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsmWT3Myt70 (this one is actually about their friend that died. basically saying they refuse to believe their friend is in hell, and questioning a religion or belief that this could ever be the case. far and away my favorite song by them)

as they went on, they really seemed to remove faith from their music, and when the band broke up, they formed a new band called hawkboy which isnt christian at all. though some of their songs do make some references, but mostly all metaphorical.

Hate hearing POD on the radio.

[–]SubtleMockery 4 points5 points ago

I don't think you're quite understanding the context Hank Hill meant that in.

He's a pretty solid Christian. He's also probably one of the people r/atheism would make fun of for his beliefs. Go america, one nation under god, etc.

His point was that that kind of "extreme" super youth oriented rock music Christianity isn't what either rock or christianity are about, and it doesn't make christianity any better, it just makes rock music worse. He was arguing from the point of being christian.

[–]Viin 4 points5 points ago

Can't you see you're not making /r/atheism better; you're making reddit worse.

Seriously though I see this every other day it's getting annoying. And before people get butt-hurt saying "the newer members may have not seem it." if they wanted to see it they could easily type in "hank hill" and about 20 of the same images would pop up.

/rant

[–]Reddit_Loves_Repost[S] 5 points6 points ago

What would posess them to randomly type in hank hill in /r/atheism?

[–]MrKequc 3 points4 points ago

Because they were about to post a funny image of hank hill that they found somewhere on the fucking internet? What is the Internet band fucking new to you?

[–]Ronald_McFondlled 1 point2 points ago

well, i have never heard of this internet band you are speaking of but it sounds like something i would enjoy.

[–]shoryuken_kid 1 point2 points ago

for that they would use goolge. this is nonsense.

[–]juwy520 2 points3 points ago

Skillet's Hero isn't that bad imho.

[–]hyena419 0 points1 point ago

Thank you for pointing my mind out.

[–]Mediumtim 0 points1 point ago

How about Christian power metal?

To be noted: The same album contains a song that is radically anti-religious violence, much in the same sense that Sabaton has both denounced and glorified WWI's trench warfare in their songs.

[–]teo_sk 0 points1 point ago

Yes, Rob Rock, this is about you.

[–]epandaman13 1 point2 points ago

Norman Greenbaum "Spirit in the Sky" the exception

[–]Twilie 0 points1 point ago

Dat random drop shadow?

[–]emcitymisfit 0 points1 point ago

CANT YOU SEE YOU'RE NOT MAKING REPOSTS BETTER, YOU'RE JUST MAKING REDDIT WORK?

[–]cheesebong 0 points1 point ago

Told this to my Christian sister. She said "but Christianity is already as good as it can be because it's perfect so they aren't even trying to make it better because it already is."

If it were perfect it wouldn't lead to death and suffering and bigotry.

[–]worldchampnick 0 points1 point ago

Hah! I'm gonna post this next Friday.

[–]Cantfindafuckinusern 1 point2 points ago

I actually really like Christian rock, as long as its not too preachy. Flyleaf, thousand foot Keith, icon for hire (not sure if actually a Christian rock band, some people say they are), skillet, etc.

[–]americanjoo 0 points1 point ago

Some Christian rock is okay... I like Skillet.

I'm a christian, and i completely agree.

[–]AngryOnions 0 points1 point ago

Bwaaaaaaaaaaah! God dang it Bobby, what did I say about posting on Reddit?

[–]Catman789 0 points1 point ago

Thank god this wasn't in a meme format

[–]znhunter 0 points1 point ago

Oh my good god repost

[–]Garrison95 0 points1 point ago

There are some good bands, like skillet and switch foot

[–]m_e_andrews 0 points1 point ago

Depending on your stance on metal/screamo, I think underoath is the only openly christian band I enjoy.

[–]wiecek13 -1 points0 points ago

[–]owlsrule143 -2 points-1 points ago

This isn't even funny anymore, and isn't really atheism either. A repost novelty account is ridiculous too. Should be banned

[–]cagg333 -2 points-1 points ago

'Cause there are no good Christian rock songs. Just like how I believe there are no good rap songs (except for Lose Yourself). Opinions are great ,aren't they?

[–]r_shawshoe 0 points1 point ago

There are no good christian rock songs. It's a fact.

[–]cagg333 0 points1 point ago

Anything in Sanctus Real's Face Of Love album. Especially I'm Not Alright, and it's acoustic version. Listen to them.

[–]jonaheim88 -2 points-1 points ago

I post this all the time.

[–]flyswatter420 -4 points-3 points ago

wow some hard hitting stuff in atheism today. kill yourself.
