Couldn't this be the dude's little sister?

[–]arudeandvulgarname 132 points133 points ago

Lebowski is under the suit?

[–]turbofucker 77 points78 points ago

Shut the fuck up, Donnie!

[–]Olivedroob 15 points16 points ago

He must be out of his element.

[–]Marenum 6 points7 points ago

No, that's just his sister. It looks more like Walter is in the suit to me.

[–]Moozua 55 points56 points ago

I'm a cosplayer as well, I've noticed that lots and lots of cosplayers will bring littler sisters/brothers to conventions to make their costume even cooler. It's pretty common.

[–]Natalia_Bandita 31 points32 points ago

or sons and daughters.......

i only say this because I've seen more parent & child costumes, personally. Usually older siblings dont get along with younger ones, and not all younger siblings will listen to and respect the rules of an older sibling. "You're not mommy/daddy. I dont have to listen to you!" Again..this doenst apply to all cosplay teams....

[–]Cratonz 6 points7 points ago

I dunno. I find the dynamic varies a lot. With sufficiently large age gaps you usually get a better relationship than with closer ones since there's less competition and rivalry between siblings.

[–]techai 23 points24 points ago

Makes sense

[–]PlusOn3 342 points343 points ago

Plot twist, that isn't his kid.

[–]bobsagetfullhouse 194 points195 points ago

Turns out she has a congenital growth-hormone condition and is the mother of the person in the big daddy suit.

[–]So_Appalled 19 points20 points ago

ALMA??!

[–]Discourage123 162 points163 points ago

That costume in amazing. That is really impressive. Job well done.

[–]MonkeyLuven 27 points28 points ago

Here's a link to an almost identically created suit and how it was made with a working drill. http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/2009/09/big-daddy-bioshock.html

Bioshock

[–]TheBeardlessSquirrel 29 points30 points ago

The game Bioshock. Go play it, its good.

EDIT: The deleted comment I'm replying to was originally asking what this was cosplay from.

[–]thatsdirty 13 points14 points ago

But after that game i no longer trust anything good that requires walking into a room. Especially a secret room

[–]mdjubasak 27 points28 points ago

Would you kindly walk into that room?

[–]oorahaircrew 5 points6 points ago

walks into room

[–]srk999 6 points7 points ago

Walk into that room, would you kindly?

FTFY

[–]punkhobo 6 points7 points ago

Bioshock

[–]therealshamisen 59 points60 points ago

I want a Big Daddy more than ever now.

[–]PartyBusGaming 57 points58 points ago

I'll be your daddy...

[–]therealshamisen 32 points33 points ago

I somehow get the feeling that this offer doesn't include the suit. :(

[–]PartyBusGaming 29 points30 points ago

It does include a suit.

[–]therealshamisen 29 points30 points ago

Is it a birthday suit?

[–]PartyBusGaming 22 points23 points ago

You'll see.

[–]Odins_KItten 11 points12 points ago

Can I watch?

[–]therealshamisen 7 points8 points ago

You're Slenderman, aren't you?

[–]calicojones 2 points3 points ago

Paternity suit.

[–]Bitter_Idealist 2 points3 points ago

Your discipline daddy...

[–]Amalasan 1 point2 points ago

whose your daddy

[–]Lilbugger826 443 points444 points ago

People need to calm down, she probably had a lot of fun playing dress-up and in the end the context of the actual costume might not have bothered her at all.

It's cosplay people, there are worse things out there trust me.

[–]I_have_a_Secret 225 points226 points ago

If my parents would have taken me to one of these things my childhood would have been magical as fuck! Seeing all these weird people so in character and having fun.

All I got to see was boring old routine life. Kudos to the parents.

[–]SupermanV2 38 points39 points ago

Sounds like a pretty serious first problem you going there friend.

[–]Iloveangrysheepsex 9 points10 points ago

maybe that was his secret.

[–]Inebriated_Sobriety 22 points23 points ago

Well, we all know yours.

[–]Iloveangrysheepsex 13 points14 points ago

everybody knows i hate cats? shhhh i'll be downvoted to hell.

[–]IndieGamerRid 10 points11 points ago

I guess you could say...

YYYEEEAAAAHHHHH

[–]angry_smurf 15 points16 points ago

And at least he's saving the girls for alternative ending.

[–]man_of_war 29 points30 points ago

Like being dragged to Home Depot. That place is childhood hell.

EDIT: Woah I must have grown up next to a crappy Home Depot.

[–]HorseyMan 15 points16 points ago

You were never drug to a shoe store, I take it.

[–]man_of_war 7 points8 points ago

Aw man, as long as I walked out with a pair of light-up sneakers, I loved the shoe store!

[–]HorseyMan 2 points3 points ago

No, I meant with while your mom did shoe shopping. At least the clothing stores had those funky multi-mirror setups, but shoe stores were hell.

[–]sirkablaam 8 points9 points ago

No, the absolute worst was being dragged to the clothing store so your mom can try on a bunch of different clothes. Be in there for hours. So fucking boring.

[–]and1li[!] 4 points5 points ago

Or the grocery store

[–]notenoughcharacters9 9 points10 points ago

What, I always loved going there and I still do!

[–]GideonPuck[S] 105 points106 points ago

I agree. I also think that if they had used prop blood or other things to create that more mature tone, this would definitely have crossed a line.

I mean....Toddlers and Tiaras? This isn't even close.

[–]Curdflappers 27 points28 points ago

The children on Toddlers and Tiaras like being in pageants and dressing up, but the editing makes you think different. One of the workers on the show did an AMA recently. It gave me a different outlook on the show. It's just kids dressing up and performing, maybe intense, but they like it and so do the parents.

Edit: Thanks to /u/helpfulandattractive (who I find both helpful AND attractive) here's the AMA: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/sjouv/

Edit AGAIN: That's not the right one. But it is one and that's all that matters. The one I'm thinking of OP showed a pic of him and a "Toddler" and then one with him and a Hi Reddit, Date, etc., sign.

[–]jvm4th 9 points10 points ago

Please link that, I would love to read that

[–]Curdflappers 9 points10 points ago

I'll try to find it...

Edit: I give up. I know you've maybe heard that the reddit search sucks, but it does. It really really does.

Edit: Thanks to /u/helpfulandattractive (who I find both helpful AND attractive) here's the AMA: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/sjouv/

[–]hayyo 28 points29 points ago

It's still exploitative, but that's for a different discussion.

[–]Levait 5 points6 points ago

Yeah my father let me play Half Life 1 when I was 6 years old, no damage, lot of fun and I'm very thankful that he let me.

[–]morgueanna 5 points6 points ago

I took my daughter to conventions a couple times when she was 6 to 8 years old. She was bored out of her mind and wanted to go home. I also see kids this age at the conventions and most of the time they look very frustrated and upset.

I do see tons of kids running around in costumes having a great time, but honestly, they're the minority. Kids don't like lines. They don't like standing around just watching costumes. They want to be doing something.

I'm sure this kid had a great time in the parade (this looks like the Dragoncon parade from just last weekend), because a parade is a walk and you get to wave and be the center of attention. But afterward, when thousands of people want you to stand still for 2 hours while they take turns taking pictures with you? Most kids don't like it.

I've done conventions for 15 years all across the country. This has been my personal experience.

[–]5li 3 points4 points ago

I've also seen this parent/child combo at Anime North: http://i.imgur.com/vz1eK.jpg

Didn't take pictures, sadly.

[–]jambony 0 points1 point ago

Or probably didn't.

[–]beta_recognize -1 points0 points ago

Im sure they just never gave her a mirror so all she saw was the dress, and never the makeup

[–]fiftiethcow 27 points28 points ago

Another plot twist, Bid Daddy is actually her mother.

[–]I_AM_NO_MAN_ 213 points214 points ago

Why the fuck are people caring about this kid being dressed up? She's not in a skimpy outfit, she's not in something uncomfortable. I bet she had an awesome time dressing up and will have a lot of fun at the event too. How is it different than dressing up for Halloween? I doubt the kid has played Bioshock, you know it is possible that the parent just asked if she wanted to dress up like that and come with.

[–]RightOverMyHead 24 points25 points ago

I also have no idea why so many people are jumping to conclusions over the facial expressions. How do we know they weren't aware the photo was being taken and were just trying to look in character?

[–]I_AM_NO_MAN_ 12 points13 points ago

That, and to me it just looks like she has a neutral facial expression. The black eyeshadow is giving a frowning look to her eyes but if you look at her face and mouth she just looks neutral like most people do when you're just walking around.

Also, kids can become whiny and mad over a lot of things. I really doubt she's mad that she is dressed up and hanging out at a fun event.

[–]nekonight 5 points6 points ago

Could you imagine this as a Halloween costume? It will be the best Halloween costume the kid will ever have.

...and no one will try to steal the kid's candy too.

[–]Peaches666 87 points88 points ago

Probably because OP's title is implying that THIS is some sort of admirable component of a correct parenting structure when we know damn well that has so little to do with "parenting".

[–]I_AM_NO_MAN_ 24 points25 points ago

Maybe not 'admirable' but I agree that it's good parenting. Instead of leaving your kid at home, you ask if she wants to dress up and come with you. I see another kid in the background too so I'm sure she would have kids her age there too. Seems fun to me. And kids love dressing up.

I think people are getting too bent out of shape over the whole 'Bioshock' thing. This was probably just a video game convention or something and the kid probably doesn't even know what game she's from, she's just enjoying it.

[–]T-Luv 6 points7 points ago

I've never had a kid of my own, but I'm going to go ahead and render a judgment about how others raise theirs.

[–]K_Lobstah 2 points3 points ago

I agree the title's bad, but everyone needs to shut the fuck up about raising other people's kids. I don't care if they're parents or not.

[–]HorseyMan 17 points18 points ago

Right, how dare parents do something with their kids besides plunking them down in front of the TV.

My kids are more into Minecraft, but we'd have no problems going to a con in costume.

[–]blahblahblahdkjdfgj 15 points16 points ago

but we'd have no problems going to a con in costume.

No one implied otherwise. I think you misunderstood what Peaches666 was saying.

No one is saying that the girl didn't have fun or enjoy spending time with their parent, what people are complaining about is the title. It's thinking that dressing your kid up as a video game character implies that you're a good parent, when, well, it really doesn't imply anything one way or another.

But the bitching in this thread is annoying, I was just trying to clear things up.

[–]hrdcrnwo 13 points14 points ago

Seriously. Whenever someone posts something involving their kids everyone seems to be Dr. fucking Lipschitz. I hate it when someone tells another how to raise their kids.

[–]SirShazmanoid 6 points7 points ago

Amen. It disgusts me when I see comments about how people should raise their kids or what is defined as proper parenting. It mostly sickens me because in all likelihood, a lot of people who are being judgmental towards the parents, aren't a parent themselves yet.

[–]TKmac02 45 points46 points ago

What if she's acting? Little sisters aren't really supposed to look happy. Maybe she's just filling the role perfectly?

Edit: There is another child at this event in the background. Could it possible have been some kind of parent/child dress up thing?

[–]QueenlyBellylaugh 6 points7 points ago

Indignant comments about exploitation aside, the first thing I thought of was that wow, that kid looks like a boss. Not to mention, she's going to be a total heartbreaker when she's older.

To all those people saying she looks unhappy, that's probably just the eye makeup. It does add a bit of frown-implying shadow, just saying.

[–]redsox0717 5 points6 points ago

that costume looks incredibly hot to be in. dude must be sweating buckets

[–]dorke 879 points880 points ago

This was done not for the kid's sake, but for the parent's; it's painfully obvious.

[–]camp_anawanna 114 points115 points ago

At least the parent is including the daughter in his/her activities and hobbies.

[–]WatsUpwithThat 21 points22 points ago

Doesn't matter, had fun.

[–]GideonPuck[S] 601 points602 points ago

My best friend has taken her daughter to many conventions over the years. Since about the age of eight, it's been one of her daughter's most fun things to get to dress in costumes. Her daughter is soon to be turning 18 now and is a pretty cool young woman.

I am sorry that you disagree with me on this, however I respect your opinion.

[–]MaxSoftcore 93 points94 points ago

Reddit, where we debate the parenting skills of a stranger based on one photograph taken out of context.

[–]Stumblin_McBumblin 19 points20 points ago

Well, how else are we going to pass the time?

[–]chris15118 554 points555 points ago

There is nothing wrong with this, but implying this is going above and beyond for the child is off. It's clearly the parents interest, since a small girl wouldn't be into BioShock.

[–]Kateysomething 173 points174 points ago

...my 4 year old just saw this and is demanding to see more pictures and for us to wear these and go to a parade. She's never heard of Bioshock, but she knows awesome when she sees it.

[–]Xen0nex 18 points19 points ago

and go to a parade.

I like your kid's gumption. Aim big :D

[–]tyrghast 7 points8 points ago

Fuck a convention, lets take this shit to the streets

[–]Randomacts 21 points22 points ago

And..

/thread

[–]Pete_and_Carl 385 points386 points ago

yeah she may not be into bioshock, but I bet you anything she fucking loves to get into a costume. Think about when you were young and got to wear cool shit for halloween. Put yourself in a perspective of a little girl, who gets to wear a new dress and go somewhere to show it off to tons of people. You must never have had a sister or daughter.

[–]FalconOne 254 points255 points ago

Not only may she like getting into a costume, but to her, she's getting into a costume along with her parent, and she's spending a lot of time with the parent.

kids love parental time like cookie monster loves cookies.

[–]imlost19 27 points28 points ago

Good point. Fact is, we don't have enough info to make a judgment either way. Playing devil's advocate, she could just being doing it because she wants to do what her parents want her to do. Ex. Honey Boo Boo. We make fun of girls like her that we consider to be 'forced' into beauty pageants. What's the difference here? Is it because shes dressing up for a gaming convention, instead of a beauty convention, that its all of a sudden okay?

But anyways, like I said, we don't have enough info either way.

[–]Raligon 8 points9 points ago

I do understand your point, but my personal problem with beauty pageants is that it reinforces the whole women are objects to look at thing. Wearing costumes is different. I do, however, believe that a convention that's more kid oriented would be more appropriate. This is probably more good than bad, in my opinion.

[–]llxGRIMxll 5 points6 points ago

My problem isn't even the looking at women thing. It's that this occupies the poor kids life more than anything. They usually don't get to do much because they have to practice all this crap and act and smile constantly and the parents usually get upset if everything isn't done 100% correct.

If it was as simple as dressing them up cute and having them walk around then that's fine. It's all the extra stuff and how the parents act that bothers me.

[–]imlost19 2 points3 points ago

You are definitely right there. If parenting goes beyond benefiting the kid and becomes more about benefiting the parent, there is something severely wrong.

The main thing I want reddit to consider is that parenting can be done wrong throughout all cultures and genres. There are good parents who take their kids to pageants, and there are good parents who bring their kids to gaming conventions.

However, we should not be immediately floored by a cute kid at a gaming convention. We should always look deeper and not claim good parenting merely because they share our interests... for if we did that, we would be no better than the honey boo boo fans that ignore the deeper issues just because the kid likes beauty like they do.

[–]wtfcollege 25 points26 points ago

Hey, when I was a little boy I loved getting in new dresses and visiting new vans places. Thats not exclusive to girls.

[–]K_Lobstah 18 points19 points ago

No space after/before the tildes.

[–]themodernvictorian 44 points45 points ago

False. My young girls love Bioshock. Their father stomps around the house making Big Daddy noises while they hold onto him, laughing.

[–]-y0shi- 3 points4 points ago

d'aaawww, that image is so cute :) But isnt it pretty scary for little kids? When I was that age I thought bowser was scary...

[–]themodernvictorian 4 points5 points ago

They've grown up watching mommy and daddy game. My oldest gets spooked the easiest and she loves Bioshock... but she's terrified of the lava levels in Kirby's Epic Yarn.

[–]trancelogix 51 points52 points ago

My 7 year old daughter loved BioShock, and would regularly ask to play it after watching me play for maybe an hour.

Some kids actually like playing video games.

[–]Stumblin_McBumblin 43 points44 points ago

Wow. I'm a 27 year old male and I was terrified through most of that game. Like, sweating with anticipation and getting shivers from eerie sound effects. I guess I'm a pussy. Scariest game I ever played.

[–]flyinthesoup 25 points26 points ago

Don't ever play Amnesia.

[–]toastpwnz 4 points5 points ago

Amnesia isn't scary at all. Bioshock is scarier. Except for the choir room... shudders

[–]Monkey_Junk 5 points6 points ago

Whaaaaat? Bioshock didn't freak me out at all, yet Amnesia definitely got to me. I didn't think it was quite as scary as everyone here made it out to me, but it got me more than Bioshock.

[–]oldgreg88 11 points12 points ago

What part of "you're doing it right" implies you are going above and beyond? It literally means you are doing what you should as a parent.

[–]DrSmoke 8 points9 points ago

So fucking what? That is like saying its wrong to teach your kid about Shakespeare or Star Trek, because you are the fan.

I would love to have had parents like this. You're lame.

[–]MerryMortician 28 points29 points ago

Fuck you. My daughter begged me to do this very thing. She is 12 now but has been gaming with me since she was 3. She sat on my lap and played CS with me, at 6 she got her own gaming rig and started playing herself with her own accounts and games and when Bioshock came out she played the hell out of and loved it. She is still a gamer.

[–]onlyinvowels 13 points14 points ago

I wish I'd had a dad like you. All mine did was introduce me to was ski free, solitaire, minesweeper, and ms paint.

[–]shizzler 16 points17 points ago

DONT FORGET PINBALL! SPACE CADET!

[–]tridium 6 points7 points ago

Times were different.

[–]with_a_leadpipe 19 points20 points ago

Or just possibly we have no way of knowing way or the other. Great picture though.

[–]CTRL_ALT_RAPE 50 points51 points ago

18 you say?

[–]GideonPuck[S] 153 points154 points ago

Creeper, no creeping! Creeper, no creeping! Creeper, no creeping!

[–]Brattain 85 points86 points ago

Aaaaaw, maaaaan!

[–]CTRL_ALT_RAPE 66 points67 points ago

[–]badastronaut7 37 points38 points ago

That face combined with your username alarms me to a degree I have never before known.

[–]Nullvoid123 7 points8 points ago

Meh. He does it every time. I'm used to it.

[–]onlyinvowels 6 points7 points ago

Especially in response to "creeper, no creeping."

[–]radialhope 4 points5 points ago

this comment makes me feel very old

[–]theRAGE 13 points14 points ago

Titles - you're doing it wrong.

[–]GideonPuck[S] 17 points18 points ago

I've admitted to this one.

I really wish I had gone with "Jack, would you kindly take your daughter to the Dragon*Con parade?" or something similar.

[–]kihadat 8 points9 points ago

Putting a title Redditor's can easily denigrate is the best way to get front page status. Also unoriginal content. You kind of fucked up there by putting OC.

[–]AlexGabriel 47 points48 points ago

Have you ever seen the children dragged to an art gallery or museum, that is also for the parent's sake rather than their own does that mean we should stop taking them?

[–]invisiblehackysack 66 points67 points ago

Yes. If your child is not sitting their fat ass next to a mountain of Twinkie wrappers happily vegging out in front of a glowing computer/TV, you're a failure as a parent. Apparently.

[–]incognito64 21 points22 points ago

You're assuming all kids want to do is veg out in front of tvs/computers. Lots of kids want to play sports or ride bikes or read or do other things kids do.

[–]mikwow 19 points20 points ago

So because this girl is with her dad at a cosplay, she doesn't play sports and do children things?

Why the fuck are we arguing about the parenting of this guy off one fucking picture at a cosplay?

[–]Prophet111 3 points4 points ago

/thread

[–]Monkey_Junk 3 points4 points ago

But they aren't doing those 24/7. My dad let me do what I wanted to do, and still took me to things that he wanted to do.

My dad would take me to his work all the time when I was little. Kids love to do thing with their parents, even if the thing is not something they would normally see as fun for the kid.

[–]hawtblondemom 25 points26 points ago

I don't think that's obvious at all. 90% of little kids I see at cons are having a blast. Parents go to those things to have fun, and bring their kids to share in their love of geekdom.

And whose to say she doesn't know the character she's dressed up as? As much as I disagreed with it when I sold video games, a lot of parents will let their kids play games like Bioshock. Or they'll sit and watch while mom or dad play.

[–]dangerous_beans 15 points16 points ago

Little kids at cons are ADORABLE. I've been to several over the years and I have yet to see a kid who wasn't ecstatic when people asked to take a picture of their costume. Likewise, kids are often pointing and shouting at the top of their lungs, "Mom and/or Dad, LOOK!" at some cool costume they see across the floor before they come sprinting over and begging to take a picture. Kids might not enjoy cons if their interest in fantasy/sci-fi/comics wanes in their latter years, but I'd say cons are almost universally a grand experience for young ones.

The exception of course is infants, since they have no clue what's going on around them and I imagine they just think their parents laced their milk with acid that morning.

[–]obvilious 10 points11 points ago

No it's not obvious. Someone has clearly spent days and weeks preparing a costume, and has chosen to include their child in this particular event. Since that is certainly obvious to you as well, I must assume you are simply trolling.

[–]EricTboneJackson 26 points27 points ago

it's painfully obvious

How? The kid looks like she feels like a total boss, and at the actual parade she was having a blast, playing chase with Splicers. So what are you seeing that nobody else does that makes it "painfully obvious"?

[–]StatmanThunderfist 15 points16 points ago

Can't tell if the girl is playing the part well, or genuinely depressed to be there

[–]Trainbow 5 points6 points ago

the kid doesn't care aslong as she gets to hang out with dad

[–]J0bey 4 points5 points ago

Doubt it, that thing is way too big to be her child.

[–]slinkycat 12 points13 points ago

It looks like a lot of fun and the costumes are great! Good for that parent.

[–]jderm1 56 points57 points ago

Title - You're doing it wrong.

[–]Snixpix 4 points5 points ago

If I have a daughter, I hope I'll have the time to do stuff like that...

[–]Odins_KItten 3 points4 points ago

Great costume. My cousin dresses up with his daughter for cons, events, halloween. ..... it let's them bond, gives his kid a new perspective, and he also teaches her about some of the cosplay /what is safe. He had been doing this since she was 8 and she asked. This summer they watched "Leon the Professional" .... guess she wants to do this year?she is 14 .... could be a little awkward. :-P

All I see in the comments are people arguing about the title, parenting and so on. What I want to know is how the Big Daddy suit was made so excellently and if that man/woman in the suit has a reddit account.

[–]Gimmemormuny[!] 3 points4 points ago

This is amazing

[–]easelove 2 points3 points ago

daughtering - you're doing it right.

[–]SilverMcFly17 22 points23 points ago

Of all the things to be outraged about on reddit, this is what you people get your panties in a bunch for? Holy judgmental fuck.

[–]herenseti 29 points30 points ago

Nerdy parenting !=~ good parenting edit: !=~ means not necessarily equal to.

[–]CrazyOldRussian 30 points31 points ago

I don't get why everybody is freaking out or being upset, One still frame and because she isn't incredibly happy her dad must be a bad guy?

[–]president_of_burundi 38 points39 points ago

That little girl was having a blast during the parade- her and another Little Sister spent the entire time running around the Big Daddy and playing keep away from the Splicers. I have a bunch of pictures of this entire group. I'm so totally baffled by the negative response to this- obviously I wouldn't take a kid to D*C After Dark 'cause the costumes get risque, but the Parade is amazing.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points ago

Upload a pic? Receive karma?

[–]president_of_burundi 24 points25 points ago

They were playing tag the entire time. So getting a straight up shot of them that didn't come out blurry wasn't easy. I know I had one of just the little sister skipping, but I must have gotten rid of it for shakey-ness. There's tons of videos of the entire parade though- Dragon*Con 2012. It's worth watching just for the 14ft high unicycle and people dressed as Tetris blocks.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Very cool. Your 3rd pic isn't loading for me. Looks like you fixed it after I refreshed the page.

[–]LiquidNarwhal 5 points6 points ago

Upvote this thread for Bioshock, Would ya kindly?

[–]jamesz5000 13 points14 points ago

I have nothing against the picture, I just think it's a bullshit title.

[–]DontBroMeBro 13 points14 points ago

Having that kid finally paid off!

[–]sidizthekid 18 points19 points ago

Seems to be a bit of a discussion in here about this being good parenting or not. To me, sharing something you like with something your child likes, is good parenting. Obviously the parent likes Bioshock, and even tho it is stereotyping a bit, every little girl likes to dress up. I admire the parent for finding a way to combine some of their hobbies together. Also this is pretty damn good costume and everything, have to say. Thanks for sharing the picture.

[–]Pazuzuuu 6 points7 points ago

I think kids in general like dressing up. I remember boys during Halloween being super happy to be Batman or a hobo or Garfield.

[–]Chapkatsu 3 points4 points ago

Painfully jealous of that costume

[–]jeffnnc 3 points4 points ago

That's awesome. The only thing I think that could top this is a father and daughter dressed as Big Daddy and Hit Girl.

[–]toepickles 2 points3 points ago

If I had that costume, I would show up to the local swimming pool and swim in it. That'll turn some heads!

[–]Gorilla_snake 3 points4 points ago

I feel sorry for the Bf of that girl when she grows up, If he breaks up with her...well let the picture explain what will happen http://i.imgur.com/dMVgG.jpg

[–]JLW09 2 points3 points ago

Far too many jimmies rustled. That cosplay rocks if you dont like the title or whatever post your own cosplay with a better title man !

[–]raegunXD 2 points3 points ago

We planned on doing.this with our daughter when she's a little older. My husband has the chain link tattoos. I was going to go as a splicer or something.

[–]Vegacon 2 points3 points ago

I thought you stole this pic from the cosplay subreddit, then I realized that you're the OP of that post too. :D

[–]angry_therapist 2 points3 points ago

Cool costumes! I took my daughter to her first Con last summer, she cosplayed, but I didn't. The only reason we went was because SHE wanted to go, and I drove her 3 1/2 hrs and got a hotel room to be able to attend it over the weekend.

The next one we go to I may cosplay, but being an af-amer/asian/haitian woman there are limited characters for me to choose from without feeling slightly weird about it.

On another side of the coin...why do people always have to argue irrelevant points in these threads? Even if it is a worthless battle. It's not like anyone here is diminished in any way if you read a title, and it turned out that it wasn't exactly what you thought it SHOULD be. Everyone must be a judge and everyone must be heard no matter how irrelevant to life their comment is...it makes it difficult to enjoy the site when people love to piss on everything. Bad dogs, bad dogs.

[–]flipkitty 2 points3 points ago

I'm telling all the girls that my daddy is the best daddy.

[–]Peteyisthebest 8 points9 points ago

Girl here, I would have loooooved this as a kid. Loooved it. Costumes, makeup, attention: win, win, win!

[–]zombiwulf 11 points12 points ago

I was going to dress up as Misty from Pokemon and carry around my 8 month old dressed up as Togepi for the anime convention.

And then my friend had to have her wedding that weekend.

[–]wtfcollege 12 points13 points ago

Yo, 50% chance your friend can get remarried but your baby is only 8 months old once. Once.

[–]aprilynn 5 points6 points ago

I would have loved to do this with my parent as a kid!

[–]gravity_plan 4 points5 points ago

lets take candid pictures of strangers and criticize how happy/sad/wrong it is with whatever they're doing at a random instant in their lives. i probably look like i'm going to kill myself every day when i check the mail, but that doesn't mean i'm not thinking about something else more important than putting that niggling little key into the the impossibly old lock and trying to jiggle it open....

[–]X019 8 points9 points ago

Wrong gender, but what came to mind was "Mummy. Muuummy! Are you my mummy?"

[–]Battlejesus 6 points7 points ago

Damn it, just when I thought I had blocked out the memory of that episode...

[–]X019 6 points7 points ago

I just watched it last night. I think that's what I'm going to do for Halloween, but I don't think many people will understand. Like that person who downvoted me.

[–]psychoticapes 4 points5 points ago

What show would that be?

[–]red-rum 6 points7 points ago

Doctor Who. Ninth Doctor. (Or is it Ten? I forget.)

[–]X019 4 points5 points ago

Ninth. The Empty Child Or the TVTropes if you so prefer.

[–]Datposs 3 points4 points ago

I think it's Doctor Who...

[–]EvilLittleThing 2 points3 points ago

Doctor Who, episodes "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances." If you're interested in watching them, they stand pretty well on their own, so you won't need to go through the whole series to enjoy them.

[–]punkhobo 7 points8 points ago

I'm not saying the kid did or did not enjoy this. All I'm saying is the title is misleading. Dressing as your favorite character and dressing your kid to match is not parenting right it's parenting smart. Doing it right would most likely result in the kid being dressed as a princess. Now if it's the kids idea then I am wrong I just feel that reddit believes that if your kid looks like their favorite video games then it's parenting correctly

[–]AmateurAstronautics 3 points4 points ago

Repost - You're doing it right.

[–]Staleina 5 points6 points ago

I think this is fantastic, let's not jump to the conclusion that the child was FORCED into this or that she actually played the game. Kids often strive to get their parents attention, or while young often want to take part in anything their parent is doing (then the dreaded teens come...). If the parent is big into games, the child may often want to take part (Ex: Right now my niece is fixated on me as one of her favorite people, so she always wants to help me water my plants, wash dishes, etc. If you're playing a video game with a mount, she'll pretend to be riding her stuffed pony and tell you to "get da monsters!" and she likes making monster noises.)

If anything, I think this kid was thrilled to take part in something this cool with the parent. Perhaps a bit intimidated by the crowds at first, but then she probably realized so many people were impressed by their outfits. Think about the sense of pride and belonging after hearing everyones praise and seeing others dressed up as well? "Look daddy, other people in costumes too!"

[–]vividearth 2 points3 points ago

We were warned they would blend in.

[–]SR144 2 points3 points ago

Sems to be dragoncons parade. Trust me kids want to be in that parade badly. Walking with batman its like dragoncon is disneyland to them. Parents love it too because kids get to dressup and be their favorite hero and they can let their imagination run free. To say its bad is like saying taking your kids to disnetylnd is bad. How? And also that girl is just tired from walking a kmile ut honestly shes gonna have the best story to tell on tuesday when she goes back to school.

[–]BlakSh33p 2 points3 points ago

As a soon to be father, this is by far mos what i am looking forward too!

[–]Das_Goon 2 points3 points ago

hahahaha, thats awesome

[–]McBurger 2 points3 points ago

That is a sick Big Daddy costume. Really well done!

[–]hamburgersandfries 2 points3 points ago

That is.the best cosplay I have ever seen on my years of the innerwebs

[–]trivialretort 1 point2 points ago

I wish I went to one of these...ever

[–]CoCo26 1 point2 points ago

He can be my big daddy.

[–]Gyrant 1 point2 points ago

If I had a costume like that, I'd wear it to drop my kids off at school.

[–]WhatDoesThatMeme 2 points3 points ago

I normally hate cosplays but this is fucking awesome.

[–]Rasuian 1 point2 points ago

"Okay, sweetie, all you have to do is hold my hand and call me Mr. Bubbles, then we can get ice cream."

"Okay, daddy..."

"Mr. Bubbles, sweetie."

[–]japaneseblossom 1 point2 points ago

OMG I WANT TO BE HER!

[–]Ds14 1 point2 points ago

Midgeting, you're doing it right.

[–]jesse_h 0 points1 point ago

This is really awkward... that's actually his girlfriend.

[–]InvaderDJ 1 point2 points ago

I think this tops the dad sitting on the porch with a shotgun for future boyfriend intimidation. He should definitely keep that costume around.

[–]Topher_Savoy 1 point2 points ago

I'm pretty surprised this showed up on my Facebook before Reddit.

[–]DonkeyOnFire 1 point2 points ago

Sigh More cosplayers in the making....

[–]its_so_on 1 point2 points ago

Parenting - You're doing it (Or if not Parenting, then by God something) right.

[–]DonnieFatso 1 point2 points ago

mr. bubbles?

[–]Reboh79 1 point2 points ago

Well, since this game came up again, I'd like to ask something totally off-topic.

Is this game worth buying? I've held off on it because I don't know if I'd like it.

[–]conorpacman 1 point2 points ago

That is so awesome. I would drop dead if this came trick or treating to my house.

[–]alanoreo59 1 point2 points ago

Big Daddying - You're doing it right.
