I can see maybe not knowing about a room in your basement. What blows my mind is people finding rooms on the first floor of their house. Really, you never noticed there was a 10x12 foot area on the building's floor plan that wasn't accounted for? You never walked around the house or saw it from the outside and thought "I know this room is there, but what takes all this space up?" It seems lazy / stupid.
