The whole point of a bike is to be a quiet form of transportation, while being maneuverable and lightweight. Adding a chainsaw pretty much nullifies all of its advantages. Not to mention the fact that chainsaws are one of the worst ways to dispatch zombies.

I dont know if a bicycle should be an offensive weapon. Ideal form of transportation definitely, but not an attack platform.

Its just one preparedness sect of the zombie culture; like the "gun, mele, stay-in-one-place, roam" sects.

I do not approve of your replacement, however. The first overtly obvious problem, your chainsaw is oriented the wrong way - you wanna cut them in half, not drill a hole in them. Second, typical chainsaw arguments - fuel, noise, clumsiness, rabble rabble rabble. Third, that has to have some effect on control, an extra ten pounds on the steering handles won't go unnoticed...

TL;DR: Its a bad idea, don't do it.

My suggestion: Take two separate chainsaw blades(?) at roughly a 90 degree angle from each other, sideways. The piston action might make balance rough, but you'll get a much cleaner cut.

I see the chainsaw is hooked up to the gear on the front tire. Is it a bike powered chainsaw, or a chainsaw powered bike?

I had this exact question as well. I agree that this isn't the best weapon/vehicle combination ever as far as practicality, however this would be terrific to hang on my wall. This would be way cooler than a dead animal or a fish I caught as a decoration.

This picture comes up every once in a while on this subreddit. Please allow me to go over the probable outcome for using this.
1) You see a Z'ed or a group of Z'ed, and for whatever god forsaken reason, you realize that you have to ride THROUGH them in order to complete what you needed to. 2) You start the chainsaw and ride towards the infected. 3) Chainsaw plunges into the torso of a zombie, but the bike stops moving because the chainsaw DOES NOT SLICE A ZOMBIE CLEAN IN HALF. 4) Probably death. Your method of transportation is bad and you should feel bad. However r/zombies is a learning experience, so no downvote for you. Happy slaying and please don't do this ever.

Nice breakdown of why it sucks though. I've always wondered why people liked the idea of a noisy, slow, unreliable and inefficient method of killing.

why is it slow? The engine revs at quite big rpm and you also pedal it. It should be faster than zombies at least. And when you run out of fuel, you just open the decompression valve and keep going. and slicing.

According to the Zombie Survival Guide, a bicycle is the best form of transportation, so I approve... :-)
