Good on you! Remember this time when your parents are old and they need your help.

[–]andill[S] 2 points3 points ago

I definitely will!

Well done man. I'm not sure if breakdancing bear qualifies as a job however.

[–]andill[S] 1 point2 points ago

As long as it pays my bills i don't care... :)

[–]ZBeebs 0 points1 point ago

How much do breakdancing bears get paid? Maybe I should consider a career change.

Enough to make a decent living in a major european City by working 40-48hrs a week.

So the more you get down the more your wages get up?

Two Years?

Fuck. I've been home two months and I feel worthless already. Buh. Congrats man.

[–]andill[S] 2 points3 points ago

Two years of "studying", i.e. partying, watching movies/tv, reading and effectively doing nothing while constantly trying to convince my parents (and myself) that i'm doing quite well at university. With hindsight I see that I actually suffered from a mild depression that started a vicious circle of doing nothing and not being able to do something against it. I finally told my parents and my friends all about it, I'm in therapy right now, and hell yeah I managed to get a job to support myself and push myself forward in life. :)

i use my first post to applaud you i`m in the exact same situation but it took me longer to realize the mess i am in. My coming out is close and i will definitely make a therapy like you.

if you felt even close to as worthless and shitty as i am now and you managed to give your life back some worth it gives me hope

thank you

Realizing that you need to do something right now ist the biggest step, I'm sure you'll find your way.

This seems like a weirdly common story. For me it took 3 years. Now I'm on medication and back at uni pursuing a different major, and things are actually going pretty well.

I feel ya, I spent 3 months in th winter with only one class a week and got super depresed. I got pretty bummed after my last internship looking for a job for 2 months. That was during the summer, but still it felt really bad.

[–]k0tamusprim3 2 points3 points ago

Gratz man i know how that feels. GREAT FEELING!

[–]cblake78 1 point2 points ago

Congrats man!

[–]hairy_monkey 1 point2 points ago

Grats. You did it for a year longer than I did..

[–]1of7billion 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations man! I remember when the same thing happened to me years ago. Never forget what it is like to not have a job, and you'll end up excelling at whatever it is you're doing.

[–]Kenny_Login 0 points1 point ago

I will second that. Did it for a miserable, horribly depressed year and a half. Never. Again.

[–]RickDripps 0 points1 point ago

You should take them out to a nice dinner as well so they have a solid memory of how grateful you were for their assistance. It is easy to forget a simple "I really appreciate it." but it'd be tough to forget "Remember that wonderful evening we had with our son at Denny's?"

[–]andill[S] 0 points1 point ago

I'm considering doing something like this. Even more because I maneuvered myself in that position by being a lazy, partying-instead-of-studying idiot..

[–]ncastleJC 0 points1 point ago

.....as a break dancer.....

[–]KadenTau 1 point2 points ago

I am this exact feel. Congrats! Now let us start over!

double tap REBOOT.

[–]andill[S] 1 point2 points ago

The only way to go is UP!

Half expected to see a Gob Bluth "I've made a huge mistake" GIF.

[–]SirArthurDayne 0 points1 point ago

Your parents have a great deal more patience with you than mine did. I was working part-time, looking for full-time employment, and still getting hounded after I graduated. They're good parents though, as are yours. All the same, we both owe them a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant.

[–]tanerdamaner 0 points1 point ago

Your back, motherfuckers.

[–]kehrk 1 point2 points ago

You're not "starting over." You're changing directions.

You can't just start over. What you did is done and unless you actually change, you're just continuing on.

[–]Azkaland 0 points1 point ago

My parents are paying for my car, insurance, and college. I only make $100 per week babysitting for two days. All I'm required to pay for is gas and clothes, and do minimal chores. I know they have the financial means to support me, but I feel bad for mooching when all of my friends are living on their own, you know? I keep trying to say that oh I have a ton of homework and studying to do, so I can't do my chores today, when realistically I sit and watch tv and reddit all day. The worst part is my apathy of the situation. I know I should change, but I don't.

[–]rahnsahk 0 points1 point ago

I wonder where I could find one of those costumes...

Congrats! What job did you end up getting?

[–]jakehowardparkour -2 points-1 points ago
