Slightly mad studios, developers of need for speed shift 1 & 2, are currently in the very early stages of development for a similar game. It would be funded in the same way Project CARS is.

I've been waiting for this for more than 10 years...3d was the last one I played and I had a blast. I just remember thinking I can't wait until this gets better! After that, it was never heard from again :(

According to wikipedia there was also Jailbreak, but meh can't say I ever played it.

I wouldn't put it past EA to bring back Road Rash. Road Rash 3-D on PS1 (and really, the originals on Genesis too) were so awesome.

Road Rash 64 was our college drinking game 1)every time you got knocked down 2)twice your place (ie 3rd place takes 6 drinks) we got ungodly good by the end of the year

I honestly don't want EA/Criterion touching it. I can't see them coming up with anything but an open-world reboot of the horrid, terrible, downright rotten Road Rash: Jail Break.

Criterion's arcade racers are top notch...but in their hands and with today's EA's oversight, it'd have too much emphasis on EXTREEEM D00D crashes and ricer-pandering powerslides and crap. Plus in EA's hands it'd be all licensed bikes, the big boys held back as pay-to-win DLC, and a half-assed, tacked-on competitive multiplayer mode.

This is where I wish Bizarre was still around; they or Stainless would do right by it.

Natasha was a bad bitch. I always tried to be nice to her but ended up accidentally pissing her off and once she was mad at you there was no going back, game got much harder when she was out to get you....

Knowing EA they will release the game sans tires, and if you want to actually race you have to pay 15.99 each.

Plus you will have to pay for a 50$ annual pass that allows you to run the game.
