I think the fedora is a lot more specific to CS than the other physics based engineering branches.

[–]MolekIXUndergrad, CS 5 points6 points ago

Since when is CS a physics based engineering branch?

[–]myhandsarebananasEngineering Undergrad 12 points13 points ago

I missed some commas. I guess it should read: I think the fedora is a lot more specific to CS than the other, physics based, engineering branches.

Comprehension washes over me in an awesome wave.

[–]whut 3 points4 points ago

Since we're already going Full Nazi on you, there should also be a hyphen in physics-based :)

I'm an engineer type undergrad. Grammar based attacks have no effect on me.

[–]DavBroChillDrop Out '12 3 points4 points ago

yeah, but they're super effective on the business type undergrads!

[–]mascan 2 points3 points ago

How were your hands engineered to be bananas?

[–]DavBroChillDrop Out '12 1 point2 points ago

lol that's such an engineering thing to say

I don't think I've seen a single fedora in my CS 125 class.

I await them with bated breath

CS 125

Aaaaand there it is. If you are curious to see what we are talking about, look near the ACM offices. No offense to the ACM folks, much love.

one fedora per crew

[–]wirrrrr 1 point2 points ago

I'm pretty sure the more fedoras the better.

[–]Spartacus_Rex 4 points5 points ago

I like to enforce a strict 72% fedoras per crew policy

You probably should link them to /r/malefashionadvice or /r/frugalmalefashion

No, I've seen it reposted way too many times over there.

[–]omg_cornfields 7 points8 points ago

Sadly, I once wore the fedora. But I learned the error in my ways.

[–]uhoClasswhole Developer 2 points3 points ago

[–]RiddlrCompE 1 point2 points ago

Ah yes, the impeccable quality fedora bought from a department store for $15.

[–]crunchbusterUndergrad 1 point2 points ago

Its spreading to other parts of campus...

A classic fedora, with a shorter crown and a wider brim can be OK if you're pairing it with appropriate attire and it serves a practical purpose. A wool hat worn with a suit and overcoat, atop a pomaded part, on the way to a career fair or other professional-dress event, will look fine or at worst slightly contrived.

The real offense is in the trilby. I quite unliterally vomit every time I see one worn outside of the Kentucky Derby.
