FYI - This photo was by Rob J Dickinson - check out more of his amazing work on his Flickr page

Saw the pic on RES and came in to comment on how to achieve this with the shutter speed to find this comment. Disappointed. Any photogs wanna comment on how to achieve this? I know I could google it. I'm assuming you just leave the shutter on bulb so it stays open and increase the aperture to around 11 - 22 and just wait for the lightening to strike?

Here's the Exif Metadata from Rob's Flickr page - in response to your comment - he went with a 30 sec exposure, f/9.0, 17mm Focal Length...

So yeah, basically, took a photo and hoped that within that 30 seconds some lightning would strike...I wouldn't be surprised if he took 20-30 so of these types of photos over the duration of the storm - this one worked

Growing up in the midwest of he USA and now living in the mountains in Queenstown, the ONE thing I really miss about home is thunderstorms. They were a weekly occurrence over the spring and summer and I've heard probably one thunder strike in the last three years. Just seeing these lightening shots bring me back to my childhood.

You seem like an angry person

I know you advocate (for avos) but don't you know, you should never feed the trolls...regardless of how bad they are as trolls and how little you're feeding them.

I always forget people go onto internet forums to purposefully be an unpleasant person. Sad lives they must be

[–]mamba_79[S] 0 points1 point ago

I find it equally sad and fascinating (from a psychology point of view)
