Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Why is Obama wearing a helmet?

[–]alis96 4 points5 points ago

As is always the case with dissidents and whistleblowers, some good has been done, and some harm has been done.

[–]Hrodrik[S] 0 points1 point ago

But knowing that the whistle might be blown, more harm might be prevented.

why did hillary clinton think she needed all that info? Also is wikileaks gonna still be around what with Jullian Assange's trouble with the law?

[–]Lewis77 1 point2 points ago

That document forgets to mention one thing Wikileaks taught the world: the identity of many pro-democracy activists living in dictatorships who cooperated with the US, thinking everything was under the seal of strict confidentiality. Or the identity of the moderate Muslims who delivered information against extremists/terrorists at great risk to themselves. And then, thanks to those heroes Manning and Assange, their identities were revealed for pretty much the whole world to see, with what consequences I wonder? The fact of the matter is, Wikileaks is most probably responsible for the death/torture/jailing of dozens of truly courageous and progressive people. They are the real heroes, and sadly because of Wikileaks they and their kind will be much more reluctant to trust the West now.

Good thing for Manning and Assange though, they have provided plenty of confirmation bias fodder for everyone who wants to believe The US Are Teh Ultimate Evil. Yeah I can't understand why they haven't received the Nobel Peace Price yet, heh.

Because Sweden is sucking the US's cock.

...with what consequences I wonder?

The fact of the matter is, Wikileaks is most probably responsible for...

This is where you're supposed to drop some citations and make your case instead of pointlessly speculating.

There there are the 8 million things a day we never know about.

Oh look taking credit for the Arab Spring.

It really had nothing to do with rising food prices, or corruption, or the encroachment of free expression, or a guy burning himself to death in protest. I'm sure the folks in North Africa were waiting with baited breath for their Aryan savior to alert them as to how fucking awful their dictatorship was.

Collateral murder is on quite shakey ground in my view despite probably being the most hyped accomplishment. Firstly, I believe it's highly editorialized and secondly, while showing us a glimpse of war I do not believe it shows a clear cut case of war crimes.

We never should have gone to Iraq, but in a situation where there has been an insurgent attack in an area and you then identify some individuals in that same area with weapons it appears reasonable to open fire on the order.

Don't forget its allowed an alleged rapist to flee a rape investigation and still be held up a hero by his almost cultist fans.

[–]gogusrl 3 points4 points ago

Alleged is the key word there.

He didn't flee, he refused to return months later when the investigation was started.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

I laugh at conspiracy theorists who talk about Illuminati run by Jews controlling the world, but even I know that those allegations are most likely made by some Government(s) in order to sway popular opinion. And rape is probably the most effective crime they could label him with. Since even if he's proven not guilty, the stamp will still be there for many. They play their cards well.
