We get threads of panel 2 about fifty times a day.

[–]Hounmlayn 6 points7 points ago

Because the posters endure panel 1 during their day outside of reddit.

[–]intentListener 0 points1 point ago

I was referring to the "Let's have some respect here" part.

[–]nthensome 2 points3 points ago

I haven't seen this in, at least, a week. 10 days tops.

[–]CrispyPudding 20 points21 points ago

don't forget all the theists (mostly christians) who come here, to the atheist sub reddit, just to tell us we are douchbags for pretty much having a sub reddit.

[–]IndifferentMorality 7 points8 points ago

inb4: Hey! They're allowed to be here. Let's have a little respect.

No.

[–]78946512354678897546 2 points3 points ago

To be fair, they are forced to subscribe. And YES I KNOW they can unsubscribe, but taking it of the default list would be even better.

[–]CrispyPudding 4 points5 points ago

i always thought this was somewhat funny. you are born as an atheist and new accounts are subscribed to r/atheism. atheism as default believe and default subreddit.

but imo "Politics" shouldn't be a default subreddit either and should be renamed into "US Politics". but what gives, if something isn't your interest, just ignore it.

[–]rj20876 0 points1 point ago

Thats because its one of the most popular sub-reddits, not a subversive plan to try to convert all theist.

People can lie.

i think we have both. there are atheists who don't like r/atheism. and tbh i would love more discussions about philosophycal topics but i have other boards for that and that's ok. r/atheism is more light entertainment for me.

but there are also a lot of magic man followers who come here just saying they are atheists hoping that their statement will get taken more serious. how many times did i read "i studied biology and came to the conclusion that evolution has to be fals" and "i am an astrophysisist and there are a lot of indications for a young universe (10,000 yo)". they will tell you anything to validade their fairy tale.

but the difference between the complaints of a theist and an atheist is that an atheist has a say because he wants a better community if he says something but a theist wants us to just not exist. the atheist comes here with hopes and is maybe disappointed. the theist comes here to get angry and then vents at us. an atheist wants other atheists be less condecending because he wants more harmony in the world. the theist wants atheists to shut up because he thinks we have to obey his (magic mans) rules. this is ok in r/christianity but not in r/atheism.

the weird part for me is, they feel they have to be the internet knight for the creater of the universe. they believe we will suffer for all eternity. you would think that's enough, but no they need to attack us on a sub section of an internet site.

[–]GANGNAM_GUNDAM 2 points3 points ago

I said that people who are saying they're atheists could be lying. This is the internet, people lie.

[–]slightly_bald -1 points0 points ago

Where? Where are these people? I haven't seen them. Where are they? Can you point them out for me?

[–]Raknarg 5 points6 points ago

There's the problem. The assholes on both sides make it horrible for everyone.

[–]theinformedlurker 9 points10 points ago

How was the atheist at all an asshole. He wore an atheist shirt? Just like christians wear.

[–]misterfanwank 9 points10 points ago

He's not. He's just breaking his assailant's weapon in self defense.

[–]theinformedlurker 4 points5 points ago

Exactly, see the comment I replied to.

[–]misterfanwank 2 points3 points ago

Right, I'm agreeing with you by answering your rhetorical question.

[–]Pencilman7 0 points1 point ago

Even in defense of his own beliefs, destroying a religious symbol is never okay. We're not above our own rules here.

[–]Deimos56 0 points1 point ago

In defense of his own face, though, that argument kind of breaks down.

Being beaten over the head with religion literally is much different than figuratively.

[–]theinformedlurker 0 points1 point ago

He was defending himself, he was being beat with a wooden cross.

[–]Raknarg 1 point2 points ago

Because there's Christian who are assholes to atheists and point fingers and mess up shit, then there's the atheists who say all religion is stupid and make it bad for all the religious, despite the fact that most of them are not like that.

Ergo assholes on both sides who fuck it all up for everyone.

[–]theinformedlurker 0 points1 point ago

But in relation to the picture, which you commented one, a person was being assaulted.

[–]RobertBus 2 points3 points ago

As a Christian, I apologize for all of these people. :/

[–]asterysk 2 points3 points ago

I'm downvoting this because I'm so sick of seeing it reposted.

[–]crashorbit 7 points8 points ago

Some things are worth repeating.

thanks

[–]CitrusTsar 6 points7 points ago

i am a christian, and even i agree that some are a little backwards

[–]MarinePrincePrime 2 points3 points ago

I am a Jedi and I find your lack of faith in your own religion disturbing. Judge not lest ye be judged.

[–]misterfanwank -1 points0 points ago

Some?

[–]sfudman 0 points1 point ago

little?

[–]Satiricalsarcasm 1 point2 points ago

yes, some

[–]zoltek -1 points0 points ago

Wow... this is the third time I've seen this on here this week. C'mon OP, be a little more original than that.

[–]Armitando 1 point2 points ago

Meanwhile, in the quest for original content...

[–]loon897 0 points1 point ago

I really like your post because it says "most" religious people. Some of us aren't bat-shit crazy. Two things I KNOW the bible tells me to do is love and not to judge.

[–]bnpixie1990 0 points1 point ago

Ugh can we at least get a different illustration Of this concept.

[–]Seer1185 0 points1 point ago

Why does this fucking comic keep making it to the front page?

[–]WhatEvery1sThinking 2 points3 points ago

the more religious someone is, the more of a hypocrite they tend to be

[–]RavixTheDreamer 1 point2 points ago

Fuck it, the entire Bible is hypocrisy upon hypocrisy, and most Christians haven't read it in its entirety. Thou shalt not kill. Kill the homosexuals. Love thy neighbor. Kill all the heretics. The Bible is fucked. Don't even start complaining about cherry pickers or those who follow it closely. No matter what you do, it goes against some part of the Bible. Throw in some bullshit stories, some flowery wording and some poems and you have the key principle of a religion.

[–]rabbitt1979 0 points1 point ago

It's the truly religious who actually tend to follow their books closely. They tend to behave accordingly to their texts, and they aren't bashful about saying so.

I would argue that the liberal Christian who picks and chooses her Bible passages is more susceptible to hypocrisy. She gets to do the dance of modernity and sing His name so she can hedge her bets.

No, it's the fundamentalist who has actually read her holy texts, who clutches to the nonsense of bronze age thinking.

[–]Onslaught147 1 point2 points ago

No, it doesn't sum up Christians. It sums up annoying religious people. Let's not forget religious people are still people, and should be shown at least some respect. Those that show themselves to be ignorant and bigoted should be made fun of, but let's not make blanket statements.

I'm an anti-theist myself, but you have to separate the religion and the people. Just because they're Christian(or insert religion here) doesn't necessarily mean they are ignorant of many issues, and intolerant of other viewpoints.

[–]xTeknoLogicx 0 points1 point ago

Look at r/Christianity, do you see any bashing? Now look at r/atheism.

Attention: I did not realize this was a repost. It was very stupid of me not to check, but someone has referred me to karmadecay.com and I will use it from now on. Again, I am sincerely sorry and in the future I will investigate further.
