This is a picture of someone dying. The driver was drunk.

I remember hearing some news story a long time ago, probably 15 years or so, where someone from Toyota had made the comment, "In the future, probably all cars will have ignition interlock devices." It felt really weird and bad at the time, like the future was going to be a shitty, fucked up place, and that somehow it was a comment on how even I will need to have one of these devices, either for safety, or just by it being forcefully thrust on me.

Now, that remarks seems perfectly valid and reasonable. I'd vote for it if it came up as a CA proposition. Especially if it required the refitting of all cars as a requirement to renew registration.
