Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

It's an okay wall, at best.

[–]LittleMonkeyFella 103 points104 points ago

It's the Alright Wall of China.

[–]ZubatKing 13 points14 points ago

"This wall is truly terrible" - Mitt Hitler

[–]irishmac3 13 points14 points ago

"We built this!" - Slaves

[–]Standatory 22 points23 points ago

"We built this city!" - Starship

[–]thumper242 9 points10 points ago

A city built on rock and roll would be structurally unsound.

[–]_xiphiaz 3 points4 points ago

Port-au-prince proved that point.

/r/ImGoingToHellForThis

[–]AmIKawaiiUguuu 0 points1 point ago

I just wanted to say thank you.

[–]FreeDirt 5 points6 points ago

"This wall is truly terrible" - the Huns

I'm sorry

[–]badlucklincoln 0 points1 point ago

Mittler.

[–]sirdrizzzle 4 points5 points ago

The other army could just roll up their shorts and walk around the end bit there next to the hot dog guy.

[–]FMERCURY 11 points12 points ago

Just goes for miles and miles....but so does the M6

[–]aahdin 8 points9 points ago

It's like what, 12 feet tall? Couldn't even keep the Huns out, let alone white walkers.

[–]Second_Foundationeer 7 points8 points ago

They really just want a higher ground to launch arrows and set sentries on.. Why would anyone defend from a length of wall instead of from a city? You can also see right away if foreigners are going to be enemies, frenemies, or friends.

[–]aahdin 2 points3 points ago

I know, I was just having a hard time slipping a game of thrones reference in.

[–]midgetmime 1 point2 points ago

It's also to keep the Chinese in. The wall is more than just a military symbol, it's a symbol of distinction that you are barbarians, and we are civilized and couth.

City walls in general are not effective though when it comes to warding off enemies.

[–]Second_Foundationeer 1 point2 points ago

Ohhh, you're definitely right about the distinction between barbarians and civilized people. I guess I always thought that cities had city walls that were set outside the actual city, and then the actual city.. ?

[–]midgetmime 0 points1 point ago

The sections on the city wall makes it possible for the enemy to walk through an open, unguarded area of the wall.

Communication for back-up in case of an invasion is also a problem when maintaining a defensive wall. Using smoke signals from the guard towers, for a message to travel through cities may take days and weeks, rendering the enemy an advantage.

Of course, all this depends on many factors such as fortification strength, tactical wit, terrain, weaponry, etc.

[–]BobisOnlyBob 1 point2 points ago

Ah, same principle as Hadrian's Wall. English peasants and Roman Elites down here, frothing mad lunatics who we'd rather not deal with up there...

[–]lowrads 0 points1 point ago

I've seen pikemen survive amazing things because of city walls.

[–]Gergy 5 points6 points ago

To be fair, the Chinese name for it is "Long wall". No mention of greatness.

[–]orniver 2 points3 points ago

Yep. "Great wall" was coined by Westerners. Chinese didn't even appreciate it until Westerners became amazed by it.

[–]taliesyn30 3 points4 points ago

It also appears here with many other diverse perspectives of lesser seen parts of the Great Wall. You might upgrade it afterwards!

[–]bronsons_toupee 0 points1 point ago

His comment is a quote from the great mind of Mr Karl Pilkington. You are missing out on hours of feeling superior, get An Idiot Abroad, it's superb.

[–]loercase 135 points136 points ago

Terribly shopped. HDR poorly done.

[–]NewCh 22 points23 points ago

Terrible photo... makes the front page?

[–]Anus_Blender 28 points29 points ago

1 - Take otherwise decent picture of a scenic location.

2 - HDR that shit and/or crank saturation to 11.

3 - Obtain front page status.

[–]Monstermash042 2 points3 points ago

  1. Reap Karma, brag to no one.

[–]cumbert_cumbert 1 point2 points ago

HDR UP IN DIS MA

[–]derpaherpa 1 point2 points ago

Don't forget instragram.

[–]loller 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I took essentially the same photo. Minus HDRing it to hell.

I missed my chance I guess. Maybe I'll just put a vignette on this one and submit it tomorrow.

[–]Anus_Blender 0 points1 point ago

I like the processing in yours and the framing of OP's picture.

[–]loller 0 points1 point ago

Same. Probably took too many shots with those archways before reaching that point and didn't bother.

[–]Anus_Blender 0 points1 point ago

Looks like he was using a wider lens than you. That kind of shot would be hard to pull off otherwise.

[–]loller 0 points1 point ago

I cannot compete with his girth.

[–]AnticPosition 10 points11 points ago

Unheard of!

[–]joebbowers 2 points3 points ago

Lots of terrible shit makes the front page.

[–]Kiwilolo 12 points13 points ago

Well... I think it's pretty. It's like a painting.

[–]linkrobin 2 points3 points ago

I agree! I don't know why, but the mist in the background really appealed to me.

[–]complex_reduction -1 points0 points ago

Kind of reminds me of "Myst".

[–]gnarbucketz 2 points3 points ago

Nevermind that it's a picture of a massive engineering project that's still standing after thousands of years. Fuck that shit.

[–]loercase 0 points1 point ago

Actually, most of the "wall" parts tourists see have been restored. The vast majority of the wall is a crumbled dirt trench.

[–]blackmist 1 point2 points ago

Agreed. I tend to use Enfuse rather than actual HDR now. Gives me a bit of control (typically expose a few bits correctly, sky, ground, any dark areas I wanted lit, then glue them together) and it doesn't throw in all that dark sky bollocks. Keeps more saturation as well.

[–]kristianur 0 points1 point ago

It would look good if it was a painting.

[–]ABadPerson2 0 points1 point ago

Could someone do a better job of photoshopping this and do a proper HDR? What would that look like?

[–]copyandpasta 0 points1 point ago

If somebody provided the exposures, or a raw original. Maybe

[–]1337Lulz 10 points11 points ago

I cant figure out if the HDR is that bad, or the resolution on my laptop is that shitty.

[–]Chapalyn 10 points11 points ago

Nope, the HDR is bad

[–]Cockentrice 11 points12 points ago

Believe me, up close it's not just a good wall. It's a freakin' great wall. Try hiking it sometime if you've got a few months to kill.

[–]Ezekyuhl 3 points4 points ago

How much of it can you walk? Could you back pack the whole length of it, legally, I mean?

[–]midgetmime 8 points9 points ago

You could, but the wall is not really a wall such that it stretches from one end to the other without any breaks in between. The wall was built over centuries in different dynasties.

There are isolated parts of the wall built by one dynasty and another longer one built by another, and so on. There have been efforts to join together these fragmented sections of the wall by future dynasties. Then again, given the geographical distribution of China, the walls are made of different materials they could procure, making the different sections difficult to join together.

So to answer your question, legally, you could do it, but to track the whole length per se, it is difficult as it's not one long wall as you expect it to be.

In fact there's a China Great Wall Society for those who are passionate about the wall and have trekked the entire distance of the wall.

[–]Ezekyuhl 1 point2 points ago

TIL, thank you!! This is the sort of thing to go on your Bucket List, now if only I was a more ambitious person.

[–]Aurayus 0 points1 point ago

As far as i know you can't do that legally. I know about some parts of the wall around Peking that are closed and it is forbidden to be on the wall there. You still can do it and nobody will notice but it is not legal. For many other parts of the wall you have to pay to visit it.

[–]greymud 0 points1 point ago

Yep, and there's a lot of it in disrepair. IIRC, there were 2 major efforts to restore the wall. The sections you see like this are the touristy areas. In rural areas, villagers needed material to build an outhouse, and there are these handy bricks nearby. Some sections are just piles of dirt now or just a walking path. The vast majority looks more like this than what you see in movies and TV.

I want to see the bad man fly!

[–]Noobnugget19 2 points3 points ago

I would not have gotten that reference if I read that 5 hours ago

[–]Durpulous 0 points1 point ago

Now that you're watching and/or reading Game of Thrones I suspect you'll be getting far more references on Reddit.

[–]the_cake_is_a_pie_ 8 points9 points ago

There's a dick dug into the right side.

[–]vibro 3 points4 points ago

I told him not to, but Qin just had to chisel a dick into the wall. Needless to say the supervisor was pissed, but he thought Xiao did it, so he had him beheaded.

[–]I_have_no_username 5 points6 points ago

The Mongolians must have been even more amazing, since it took something that amazing just to keep them out.

[–]axontodendrite 10 points11 points ago

since it took a shitty wall

[–]TrulyGolden 7 points8 points ago

god damn mongorians

[–]Subduction 16 points17 points ago

Where credit is due:

This photo is by Junichiro Aoyama, jam343 on Flickr which has a whole bunch more beautiful shots.

[–]lickmyplum 21 points22 points ago

Yes, I want to know exactly who over processed this photo to all hell. Thank you.

[–]NotSoAlone -3 points-2 points ago

Can we get a link to your portfolio so we can see how it's done?

[–]ElencherMind 10 points11 points ago

You don't need to be able to do something well to tell that it's been done poorly.

[–]NotSoAlone -2 points-1 points ago

No, but a personal understanding of the difficulty of doing something well tends to limit the condescending arrogance with which lickmyplum is expressing his opinion.

[–]lickmyplum 0 points1 point ago

Her opinion as literally a professional photographer. Link to my Flickr below.

[–]lickmyplum 2 points3 points ago

My flickr. Enjoy!

[–]NotSoAlone 0 points1 point ago

You are a good photographer.

As a fellow photographer I guess I just don't understand why photographers seem to feel it's okay to be mean with each other.

Criticize, point out flaws, fine, but photographers seem to be gleeful in tearing each other to shreds instead of maintaining a civil tone.

What we do is difficult to get right and we should be supporting each other. I guess I just have a different idea than you about how we should be speaking to one another.

[–]NotSoAlone 0 points1 point ago

The framing in the window adds quite a bit to the composition, I wouldn't count that out as an important part of the picture.

[–]loller 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I agree.

[–]Bengt77 3 points4 points ago

I've looked through quite some photos and sets, searched his Flickr using several keywords, but haven't found the photo in question. How do you know this picture is indeed by this Junichiro Aoyama?

[–]Subduction 1 point2 points ago

I found being used as an example with credit in a discussion on photo composition here:

http://www.thephotoargus.com/tips/photography-tips-dramatically-improve-your-photos-composition/

[–]Clubpvt 3 points4 points ago

First thing I saw was the penis indent on the bottom left. Reddit has ruined me...

[–]toxoplasmosis_cat 1 point2 points ago

til sky in china is grey... seriously, people upvoting such photoshopped picture are retards

[–]Allah_Mode 2 points3 points ago

fucking huge ocd fence amirite!

[–]teamramrod456 0 points1 point ago

Stay off my lawn Mongolians!

[–]CanadianSpy 0 points1 point ago

Anyone know how deep the wall is? I feel like it would have been easy for an army to tunnel under.

[–]sarcastic_smartass 4 points5 points ago

'Cause it totally wasn't guarded.

[–]Gergy 0 points1 point ago

It depends which part of the wall you're at. You also have to remember it's not just one wall, it's lots of little sections. You can just walk around it if you really wanted to.

[–]canadas 0 points1 point ago

One important part is that this wall is far away from enemy bases, so to have a "tunneling team" they would need a massive supply route (the chinese also had one (maybe not massive, but towns supplied goods to them, because in many places wall was far from a city so there were lots of people whos job was to bring food and general supplies to the wall. Also a lot of the wall is built on peaks of hills/mountains, with a very good view of what was going on, so unless they wanted to tunnel from very far away they probably could be seen. I dont know anything at all about tunneling abilities from that time though.

[–]Aurayus 0 points1 point ago

You don't need a tunnel. At many places it is not very high so you can easly get over it. It was more built to discouragethe enemys than for defence use. But you get a pretty good overview because of all the towers, so it was easy to notice enemys

[–]riverstyxxx 3 points4 points ago

Contrary to public belief: The great wall of china is not visible from outer space.

[–]Am_no_longer_lurking 6 points7 points ago

Another interesting tid-bit of information about the Great Wall is that it's built in a funny manner. Workers would take dirt, ordinary dirt, and smash piles of it with massive wooden poles. After smashing it enough, it would a sort of cement.

Very labor intensive, it was. As such, a massive amount of people were needed to build it. Lots of workers were needed. Men of all ages were called upon for this task. Elderly, children, it didn't matter. If they could move, they could work.

A great number of women were left to care for the farm, the family, and whatnot...Sadly, many women were unable to fill the hole that was torn from their families. That's a tale for another day. For now, let's continue.

A lot of people died during the walls' construction. A lot of people died. It's estimated that as many as one million people lost their lives during the construction as direct result of being heavily abused, overworked, and not receiving nearly enough food.

The dead would be buried in the wall itself. Imagine it, being pulled away from your home, your family, your loved ones, and being forced to work on the wall. You would be beaten, you would be belittled, you would be starved. all the while constantly working on the wall. Then you died. Your body would not be sent back to your family, instead, your corpse would be used as material for the very wall that you died building. In a sick and twisted way, it's almost poetic.

Hm...But yeah, that's the buzz-killing fact of the day. Great Wall. Sexy, lovely, a national landmark. Something everyone knows of, regardless of origin.

It has a bloody history though...Keep that in mind the next time you're going for a visit. Pay respects to the tens of thousands who've been forgotten by history. Say a prayer, acknowledge their work, thank them... Or don't. It's up to you, really.

So yeah, that's about it. If you made it this far, then I can only thank you for your time and wish that you have a great day. Best of luck in life, y'all.

[–]_xiphiaz 0 points1 point ago

My car is visible from space. I'm pretty sure the great wall is larger than my car.

[–]othersomethings 0 points1 point ago

It looks like those people in the background are dancing, like...classy dancing.

That would be epic...waltzing on the Great Wall of China.

[–]ETL4nubs 0 points1 point ago

Someone please photoshop the Eye of Sauron in the background.

[–]colloquialism86 0 points1 point ago

Is that a fucking t-rex descending in the clouds?

[–]stuckit 0 points1 point ago

Looks like the cover of a fantasy novel.

[–]akriv16 1 point2 points ago

From this angle, it looks like the Great Wall has the potential to be an unreal roller-coaster.

[–]largebrandon -1 points0 points ago

This must be from World of Warcraft's new expansion: Mists of Pandaria.

[–]W360 0 points1 point ago

Looks Hoppable

[–]Razbu1337 0 points1 point ago

Damn, if only there was a storm in the background...

[–]silasioalejandro -1 points0 points ago

Looks like something out of LOTR

[–]Soronir 0 points1 point ago

Someone has boundary issues.

[–]roeky 1 point2 points ago

[–]Kelor 0 points1 point ago

This is my question too. It sure looks like it.

Is there any way to get this at 1920x 1080 reso for a wallpaper???

I am not good at that kind of thing

[–]taliesyn30 1 point2 points ago

1024 x 998 then right click and set as wallpaper..

[–]kennysum1 0 points1 point ago

not bad thanks!

[–]wodha 1 point2 points ago

It's an ok pic of an amazing wall.

[–]Residue 0 points1 point ago

[–]Benny0_o 0 points1 point ago

Very cool but looks heavily edited.

[–]csirke4 0 points1 point ago

How come that a pile of stone like this could stop an entire army?

[–]Abelard25 0 points1 point ago

I pee'd on it this past february...

[–]nato0519 -1 points0 points ago

Now all of China knows you're here!

[–]cclementi6 0 points1 point ago

One the better uses of HDR, but still slightly overdone on my opinion.

[–]Truthteller22 1 point2 points ago

[–]GiefDownvotesPlox 0 points1 point ago

The Photoshopped Picture

[–]plea4peace 1 point2 points ago

Does it take anyone else's breathe away, the way it just follows along the very tippy top of the mountain range like that into the distance? It looks positively...natural. [9]

[–]thegrapetrain 0 points1 point ago

Great photo, except pollution has made that view basically impossible now. The pollution is so bad near Beijing (and in most of China) that the most of the wall is blanketed in a yellow haze. What's worse is that the government constantly tells its citizens that the smog is just fog. Here's the background of a photo I took in June: Link. Everyday in Beijing and the surrounding area is basically a sick yellowish-gray.

[–]Sloppythesecond 1 point2 points ago

Not a photo. It's HDR. Big difference

[–]rockthemike 0 points1 point ago

Imagine fucking a girl doggy style there. Awesome.

[–]usbmmorpg 0 points1 point ago

Looks good, is useless.

[–]Brashdoodle 0 points1 point ago

Wow, that's a neat Skyrim mod.

[–]VsAcesoVer 1 point2 points ago

I took one in 2008 with a praying mantis!

[–]RamenAvenger 0 points1 point ago

Skyrim expansion right?

[–]Kerstmangang 0 points1 point ago

Whoa, seems like Blizzard is doing a good job.

[–]Magnesus 0 points1 point ago

Too much HDR.

[–]badlucklincoln 0 points1 point ago

Visiting the wall is truly a great experience, you get to see the wall and and the resting place of the people who built it! :D

[–]Cwest64 0 points1 point ago

On the right side there is a penis See it?

[–]CheeseMonkiesAttack 0 points1 point ago

Looks like a panic attack to me. That seems high.

[–]Yogpod 0 points1 point ago

Best wonder of Earth IMO.

[–]Madargende -1 points0 points ago

How can you think this is beautiful when it has been shopped so hard?

[–]snakemcgraw -1 points0 points ago

That's not really an amazing pic, the ND filter is too strong and it looks like it was shot on an entry level SLR.

[–]Doghten2 -1 points0 points ago

Why would the room be dark if it's bright outside? Fake pic.

[–]Juicetindude 0 points1 point ago

Chinese sky cell XD

[–]Lord_Smack 0 points1 point ago

You do realize that that white mist/fog you see sitting between the mountain ridgest is actually Beijing smog? Its terrible to see how polluted that general area is.

On a windstill day when you fly in from the west its like an orange soup sitting between the mountains and you can barely see the sun when you are in Beijing.

[–]frezor -1 points0 points ago

Minecraft is an awesome game.

[–]ModernAndroid 0 points1 point ago

You know you've been playing too many video games when you can't tell if a picture like this is a IRL picture or a screenshot from some game.

[–]southstall 0 points1 point ago

woow what a pic, it's really nice

[–]Smackithdown 0 points1 point ago

God damn Mongolians!!!

[–]narancs 0 points1 point ago

please take your halos elsewhere.

[–]Ftumsh 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations, this has the honor of being the first submission to /r/HDaaaRgh - examples of shitty HDR.

[–]topcat512 0 points1 point ago

All i can think of is that scene in mortal combat where Goro and Johnny cage fight in a tower that looks exactly like that. In the climax of the scene, Johnny kicks goro in the balls and sends him over the edge.

Fuck the haters, that was an awesome movie.

[–]louisrod2005 0 points1 point ago

so much shitty photoshop. Look at all that horrible feathering!

[–]SendSend 0 points1 point ago

The sky in Beijing couldnt possibly be that clear.

[–]SmilodonFatalis 0 points1 point ago

The hole in the wall on the right looks like a penis

... cannot unsee.

[–]kimichiboy 0 points1 point ago

LIES What Skyrim mod is this?

[–]kizzbizz 0 points1 point ago

For anybody who is interested, this photo was taken at the Simatai Section of the Great Wall. I visited there several years ago and got to climb to the off-limits section (higher vantage than where this was taken).

More photos

[–]Shouldknowbetter 0 points1 point ago

Great pic

[–]kadddafi 0 points1 point ago

yes

[–]MadMoneyMike 0 points1 point ago

There is nothing more enjoyable than 3 hits of acid on the Great Wall. The throngs of tourists kinda freaked me out but it was nothing a hash cigarette and backpack full of beer and smokes couldn't solve.

[–]optimusfunk 0 points1 point ago

I feel like this is the only section of the wall i've ever seen and every picture of it is from this exact angle

[–]castironbrick 0 points1 point ago

People take shits in those watchtowers. Seriously, last time I climbed the wall, even getting near those ramparts was like trying to smoke a New York subway station.

[–]teamramrod456 0 points1 point ago

The great wall of China is 5,500 miles long, if you include the remote and broken parts of it. To put that into perspective, that's going from Washington D.C. to San Francisco, then back!

[–]FoxyGrampa 0 points1 point ago

meh, it's an OK wall I guess.

[–]article134 0 points1 point ago

decent sniper nest

[–]aheadwarp9 0 points1 point ago

Amazing? The sky is darker than the foreground and looks like mud! Pretty sure the only reason people are upvoting this is due to the subject, as the quality is mediocre at best. Turn the HDR down next time... a lot.

[–]joebbowers 0 points1 point ago

I get that not everyone can afford a good camera, but the over-processed HDR look really makes it even worse.

[–]joebbowers 0 points1 point ago

Anyone else in the Great Wall club? (Ie., had sex on it.)

[–]Magrippinho 0 points1 point ago

This picture can be used to put to rest the "you can see the Great Wall from space!" myth, even from this vantage point you can hardly see it going into the mountains...

[–]barrythepirate 0 points1 point ago

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jam343/

[–]93Luke 0 points1 point ago

Everything in the picture except for the brick window looks more like a painting than a photograph.

[–]HolyGhostBustr 0 points1 point ago

Shitty post processing...

[–]emusha 0 points1 point ago

ooo nice perspective

[–]aleppocone 0 points1 point ago

Truly shitty hdr.

[–]awe300 0 points1 point ago

Looks like a bad HDR camera picture

[–]Mr_Rivers 0 points1 point ago

The first thing i spotted was the mini alcove on the right of the picture that looks like a penis

[–]fizzgig1 0 points1 point ago

God damn Mongolians!

[–]boonimajneB 0 points1 point ago

Who's the scum that put gum near the chum at the bottum of the screen?!

[–]Hoxton 1 point2 points ago

Fact. You can see the moon from the great wall.

[–]derpplease 0 points1 point ago

I love how someone decided to put an impression of there junk in the wall. Just goes to shoe you man kind is still same as it was long ago.

[–]the_unprofessional -1 points0 points ago

First thing I thought of was all of the little Asian kids a shitting all over the place and worrying about stepping in it as you walk along the wall.

[–]superjew619 -1 points0 points ago

Let's get down to business!

One does not simply walk into Mordor.

[–]superbaconman 0 points1 point ago

So 1700 years ago China built a wall to keep out foreign invaders, but America can't even put up two chain link fences?

[–]aaronepower 0 points1 point ago

Am I the only one who thought this was from a game?

[–]ElMangosto 0 points1 point ago

Isn't that Tyrione's jail cell?

[–]Castit 0 points1 point ago

Beautiful.

I hope I'll be able to walk on this wall once in my life.

This card always reminded me of a view like this. http://imgur.com/rGhv4

I know I have to go outside more when my first thought was:

"From what game is this?"

[–]Purplebuzz 1 point2 points ago

Nice subject matter, not a great picture.

[–]p3t3or 1 point2 points ago

agreed.

[–]jackwalsh90 0 points1 point ago

This may be a dumb question, but what do the Chinese do about highways up north? I realize the wall is not fully continuous, but surely the longer sections must get in the way of some roads.

[–]waqasbhutta 0 points1 point ago

amazing wall.

[–]burstonyamom 0 points1 point ago

There is a penis in the arch way rock.

[–]tushea 0 points1 point ago

Wow! How long did it take you to climb?

[–]Communicate 0 points1 point ago

But if you look at the wall inside the window to the right: Penis!

[–]evilpoptart 0 points1 point ago

Not only can the great wall be seen from space but apparently even space can be seen from the great wall.

[–]NNYPhillipJFry 0 points1 point ago

This picture is terrible. To much HDR.

[–]Subduction 1 point2 points ago

That, for those of you accustomed to seeing pastel false-color messes, is HDR done much closer to properly.

[–]Oliver_Cat 19 points20 points ago

It has tone reversal, fringing, and halos like crazy. The sky looks awful. This is not done well at all. If it was HDR done well, then you wouldn't have known it was HDR.

[–]Subduction 1 point2 points ago

Of course, but I was trying not to be a dick.

In the grand scheme, however, it is much closer to right than the cartoon shit normally posted here as genius; I was trying to point that out without being overly pedantic.

[–]caseyj355 -1 points0 points ago

Wow truly stunning, the small windows actually were added later and were not part of the original wall

[–]idurred 2 points3 points ago

Went to the Great Wall once... This picture reminds me that all of the little watchtower thingies reeked of piss :/

[–]ajkjnr 1 point2 points ago

Well atleast did you get your picture taken by random chinese people cause you were white?

[–]idurred 0 points1 point ago

Haha I'm actually Chinese :P

[–]ajkjnr 0 points1 point ago

Hahah, I went to china for the first time with my school, this past April, and every single chinese person kept on constantly asking me and my friends for a picture. I felt so awesome. Sorry my last comment was a little racist...
