aww that was pretty nice :)

[–]moejike 62 points63 points ago

This is the closure I've been needing for the last decade. Tearing up a bit here... Damn Allergies!

[–]SaltyTacoMaster 18 points19 points ago

Allergies? Psssh admit it.. I teared up a little to. That was heart warming and such a nice way to bring back childhood memories.. That just made my day, thanks OP.

[–]Squirtle07 5 points6 points ago

Come on. You know you didn't just tear up. I full on cried! I couldn't help myself. :(

[–]Atticakes 2 points3 points ago

Damn onions... chop chop chop

[–]FreeThinkerLee 3 points4 points ago

After the fake ending of Calvin and Hobbes where Hobbes turned back into a toy, this was the perfect comic strip for closure.

[–]ILL_Show_Myself_Out 117 points118 points ago

Aww, and the daughter has Mr.Bun, that implies he married Susie!

[–]MrDoofus 85 points86 points ago

and she looks a lot like Calvin's mom which implies SIGMUND FREUD.

[–]Doctorwhoisawsome 15 points16 points ago

I... I think I love you!

[–]TheDespondentZombie 8 points9 points ago

Which implies something akin to Stockholm Syndrome!

[–]ikorolou 9 points10 points ago

the number two of those shows that he did in fact marry susie

[–]sokiel 37 points38 points ago

don't care if it's a repost. i like being reminded of calvin and hobbes every once in a while

[–]Steps_on_Legos 14 points15 points ago

[–]pseudosomnia 16 points17 points ago

This is one of those reposts that I will upvote everytime. If not for reposts, I might have never seen this comic. This makes me think parenting won't be so terrifying after all.

[–]blade740 10 points11 points ago

I am seeing this for the first time, and appreciate the repost.

[–]Traniz 0 points1 point ago

My lovely childhood is now playing the role similar to my age.

[–]TrainAss 26 points27 points ago

Where is this comic from? I'd love to see it daily or even weekly or something.

[–]xAllyCatx 34 points35 points ago

those are just so.....sweet sniffle

[–]Merrena 16 points17 points ago

Not many things make me come close to the verge of tears, but this was one of them.

[–]JustCallMeBen 2 points3 points ago

I have cried three times in my life. Once when I was seven and was hit by a car. A second time when lil' Sebastian died. And now this.

[–]hobbsarelie83 1 point2 points ago

Who keeps bring these onions around?

[–]albrano 1 point2 points ago

Them ninjas I tells yeah.

[–]hobbsarelie83 1 point2 points ago

Onion ninja's

[–]loginginishard2Do 7 points8 points ago

you should post these to the calvin and hobbes subreddit

[–]Vivtek 9 points10 points ago

The Calvin and Hobbes subreddit has seen them.

[–]wave538demon 5 points6 points ago

Am I the only one who wants to play Calvinball now after seeing part 4?

[–]UnhappyMaskSalesman 3 points4 points ago

The score is Oogie to Boogie

[–]bergini 1 point2 points ago

But I already had Oogie.

[–]AtheistActivist 2 points3 points ago

Looks like those guys quit. That's sad, I really would have liked to see more of these

[–]TrainAss 3 points4 points ago

Nice thanks

[–]gnome12585 0 points1 point ago

Thanks for the links

[–]Incontext 1 point2 points ago

The only thing I don't like in all of these, is that Susie now likes acting gross about her food. I think it would suit better if she didn't change so drastically and remained Calvin's opposite.

Either way, awesome find and thanks.

[–]Pb2Au 34 points35 points ago

The one thing I can't figure out: Why the heck is she called 'Bacon'?

Edit: Francis Bacon reference? Because of the philosopher name pattern? Either way, poor choice in my opinion.

[–]Kieroshark 49 points50 points ago

Knowledge is power. France is bacon.

[–]Mr_Inverse 3 points4 points ago

Upvote for ancient Reddit reference.

[–]pebohead 3 points4 points ago

Probably a nickname.

[–]RichardVarnum 8 points9 points ago

I can't figure out the Bacon part either. Does anyone else have any idea? Francis Bacon seems like a fairly weak theory, even with Hobbes.

[–]hybris12 20 points21 points ago

Both Hobbes and Calvin were named after philosophers, so it's plausible.

[–]GardensOfBoydstylon 5 points6 points ago

Also, Bacon is an anagram of Calvin and Hobbes, so the artist could just rearrange the existing letters rather than having to make new letters try to match the font. You can even see that the "b" isn't capitalized.

I think keeping the right font and going with the philosopher theme makes the most sense.

[–]RichardVarnum -1 points0 points ago

This is using the term philosopher rather generously. While they were all great "thinkers," their fields varied so much. The only thing connecting a political theorist, empiricist, and theologian together are that they're all intellectuals.

[–]ohsothisisreddit 11 points12 points ago

All of those fall under philosophy. That's like saying Pragmatism isn't philosophy because it's Pragmatism.

[–]RichardVarnum -4 points-3 points ago

I'm not saying they aren't all philosophers. I'm saying philosophy is a really fucking broad classification for things that often have very little to do with each other. I can make the case that Newton and Nietzsche are both philosophers, but they have almost nothing in common.

[–]ohsothisisreddit 8 points9 points ago

Well yeah, no one's ever accused philosophy of being too focused.

[–]RichardVarnum -5 points-4 points ago

That's my point. Picking character names from philosophers just because they're philosophers seems unlikely to me when they all have extremely different areas of focus. It's not like Lost where Locke, Rousseau, and Hume are all on an island together. That's a very obvious throwback to classical political theorists. I just don't think that's what they're doing here with Bacon. Although who knows?

[–]Terminator426 5 points6 points ago

Just to clear things up, it has been stated by the authors that it IS indeed a reference to Francis Bacon, I don't have the link on me unfortunately, but I can confirm the reference.

[–]RichardVarnum 0 points1 point ago

Thanks for posting this. Author's intent is always the best determiner of what something means.

[–]blade740 4 points5 points ago

I could see Calvin naming a kid Bacon, somehow.

[–]RichardVarnum 0 points1 point ago

I'm not sure if I could see Susie doing it though. Although she seems to have adapted to Calvin's personality quite a bit. It'd certainly be interesting to hear them talk about naming her.

[–]k9centipede 1 point2 points ago

I assumed it was an endearing nickname

[–]AllergicToKarma 0 points1 point ago

Because that is her name?

[–]Guy_Barker 17 points18 points ago

This was really nostalgic, think I might have to go read some old C&H

[–]rrreeevvv 9 points10 points ago

cyanide and happiness

[–]dlove67 9 points10 points ago

FUCK YOU C&H IS CALVIN AND HOBBES AND YOU KNOW IT

[–]cgunner 6 points7 points ago

I got really sad reading this for some reason...

[–]LMST 4 points5 points ago

"The nostalgia!! I..can't..take.." and the brave Spaceman Spiff was overcome by the need to read every Calvin and Hobbes in their collection. You just made my day.

[–]LAUGHINGDOGGY 18 points19 points ago

my childhood<3

[–]xAllyCatx 15 points16 points ago

that is so adorable sniff

[–]Burdenofbruce 5 points6 points ago

Reading this is like watching the end of toy story 3

[–]PlaceDaPig 6 points7 points ago

That is probably the sweetest thing I've seen all day. Made my day. :)

[–]asnof 2 points3 points ago

This isnt funny at all, this is quite heartfelt

[–]OfficeFork 4 points5 points ago

Poor Mr. Bun, left all alone.

[–]wicmac 3 points4 points ago

HOLY SHIT HE MARRIED SUSIE!!!

[–]msnyder622 1 point2 points ago

This makes me feel fuzzy.

[–]santaphrax 3 points4 points ago

A repost right in the nostalgia. That feel man...

[–]Amateur_Ninja 5 points6 points ago

Finally a future Calvin and Hobbs that doesn't slaughter my childhood! sniff I owe you so, so much.

[–]PatrickDaMoose 3 points4 points ago

This made me tear up.

I grew up on this comic.

[–]Imjustheartless 2 points3 points ago

OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR THIS. Childhood renewed. read those comics a million times over.

[–]bloodybadger 5 points6 points ago

I ain't gonna lie.... I cried some manly damn tears.

[–]zgh5002 1 point2 points ago

Yep. Every single time I see the last line of Calvin and Hobbes, I get punched right in the feels.

[–]omgdinosaurs 2 points3 points ago

Beautiful illustration

[–]Grieglet 2 points3 points ago

I'm crying so hard right now.

[–]GameAddikt 0 points1 point ago

This was really nice, thanks OP for brightening up my day!

[–]karategoat 2 points3 points ago

I was named after Calvin, thanks for sharing this.

[–]ColonelRuffhouse 0 points1 point ago

Whenever I read Calvin and Hobbes, I feel like I didn't use my childhood enough. And now it's gone.

[–]DetEndeloseSvart 2 points3 points ago

Screw that. Whenever I read Calvin & Hobbes, I feel like I should be using my childhood more, and I'm two teenagers old.

[–]ColonelRuffhouse 0 points1 point ago

That's a lucky state of mind...

[–]whitetzor -1 points0 points ago

At least your name isn't bacon.

[–]MoonRazer 0 points1 point ago

No matter how many times I see this, I always get one of those big, "everything is going to be okay in the world" smiles after reading this.

[–]ProfitLemon 3 points4 points ago

nostalgia boner

[–]Gorack 5 points6 points ago

That brought back some good memories.

[–]patontheback 2 points3 points ago

oh man, that got me right in the feels. :')

[–]dgd765 0 points1 point ago

the immortal mr.hobbes

[–]fora-mejora -1 points0 points ago

Damn, that's heart-warming.

Thanks, OP.

I've never gotten such a lump in my throat from nostalgia before.

[–]mramigofosho -1 points0 points ago

Make more, please.

[–]Ttocs_is_Awe 0 points1 point ago

ALL the feels!

[–]NeonNintendo -1 points0 points ago

I awe'd. That was amazing.

[–]Overload889 0 points1 point ago

Best comic strip ever. Reading this makes me wonder where I put my transmogrifier.

[–]xodus112 0 points1 point ago

Well, that just warms your heart. :)

[–]toxicshok -1 points0 points ago

I just imagined calvin nude and thrusting

[–]Inkandpen 0 points1 point ago

I am totally going to call my daughter Bacon from now on.

[–]Frazlon 0 points1 point ago

When I read Tuna Fish I got a different thought... fuck my life, Calvin and Hobbes was my favorite comic.

[–]zombiechops 0 points1 point ago

My grandma introduced me to Calvin & Hobbes. She loved his imagination. Seeing all the horrible renditions on 4Chan what happened later with Calvin & Hobbes, this is such a remedy. I don't know who to thank, but thank you & I think I love you a little. Damn, my feels hurt.

[–]darkshadowofxdeath -1 points0 points ago

Gets me every time...

[–]Batticon -1 points0 points ago

Why'd he keep him in a shelf all those years? :(

[–]TheHamFalls 0 points1 point ago

I like how the girl Calvin is in bed with resembles Susie. :)

[–]Abnmlguru 0 points1 point ago

is Susie

[–]captainobvious254 1 point2 points ago

I'll upvote anything Calvin and Hobbes!

[–]MotoMini94 0 points1 point ago

For some reason, BAM! right in the feels.

[–]Excaliburkid 0 points1 point ago

Born in 2000. Wish I could have been around for these. Being able to see a new one every sunday. I wish is was born in the nineties. :(

[–]rocker767 0 points1 point ago

that was awesome.

[–]poeticpoet 0 points1 point ago

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..... Heart warmed. Now i want a baby. I gotta stop killing em all with my hand. Yeah I said it.

[–]Demoted_Axel 1 point2 points ago

Right in the feels...

[–]Lagfest 0 points1 point ago

<3... Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. _^

[–]tscheuer -1 points0 points ago

am I the only one who doesn't think this is funny at all

[–]budsy -1 points0 points ago

[–]oadoadoad -4 points-3 points ago

Repost, 26 days later...

[–]ThatMetalBrony666 -1 points0 points ago

Shut up, you're spoiling the moment....

[–]Wisdom_from_the_Ages -2 points-1 points ago

As well-done as this is, it's not funny. As much as I fucking ADORE Calvin and Hobbes, this belongs in /r/hipsterbastardizationsofgoodthings.

Time to ride the down-vote-coaster! Weeeee!

[–]ScuzzyStarcraft -1 points0 points ago

I'm sad at how far i had to scroll down to find this. I'll get on that ride with you buddy.

[–]OrderTeam 1 point2 points ago

Wasn't there a comic where Calvin took pills to fix his ADHD or something...?

I think it was a series. Link anyone?

[–]OnlyDemonic -2 points-1 points ago

"Eat little girls", "tuna fish"... Well, there goes my childhood.

[–]OmniaII -2 points-1 points ago

[–]Leyst -2 points-1 points ago

I feel cheated, when I reported those a good 3 weeks ago I only got 32 link karma.

[–]PauseforBong 0 points1 point ago

OP: Can you please do more of these? Or does anyone know where or if there are any more of these?

[–]Abnmlguru 0 points1 point ago

The other three linked earlier in this thread were the only ones made. Pants are Overrated is the website, and they were just one-offs. Too bad.. I would read the everloving bejeezus out of em.

[–]k9centipede 0 points1 point ago

Op posted links to 3 more comics upthread: )

[–]frenchhornhero 0 points1 point ago

This is by far the best thing I have read all night on Reddit. Thank you OP.

[–]McGreek -2 points-1 points ago

This brought the biggest smile to my face. Thank you.

[–]QuelleDommage -2 points-1 points ago

quiet sobbing...

[–]iVoid -3 points-2 points ago
