These brilliant all knowing characters who spontaneously speak in beautifully constructed sentences and elaborate stories with inspirational punchlines in the end are getting annoying.

[–]BloodyMess 48 points49 points ago

I just watch for the compelling and realistic depictions of forensic and diagnostic medical science.

Now show me your breasts

And for 13

[–]HMS_Pathicus 8 points9 points ago

Except for Sherlock (BBC series). I'm not getting tired of him anytime soon.

But well, 3 episodes per season, 2 seasons so far... I haven't had much time to get tired yet.

[–]juliusaurus 3 points4 points ago

Of course, you do know that House is based on Sherlock Holmes...

[–]CyanIsNotBlue 12 points13 points ago

Character development on a long running cash cow tv series on network tv?

[–]arrjayjee 30 points31 points ago

It's a procedural. The entire point is that if follows a formula every episode. The magic of House was that the character was so intriguing we cared more about how the situation would allow him to interact with the situations created by this week's procedure more than the procedure itself, whereas many procedurals like Law and Order while having characters, focus more on the method than the character madness.

[–]CyanIsNotBlue 7 points8 points ago

Well, yes. That's why the first few seaons of House were great. But then they started doing things that should logically enforce character development, like the tritter arc or getting locked up, but that never happens.

[–]blex64 4 points5 points ago

That's the problem with House. He actually makes progress through the season, and at the end of it/beginning of next season they find something to reboot him and make him a jaded cynical dick again.

Don't get me wrong, that's why I love House. He's awesome as a jaded cynical dick. But I get tired of watching the same thing over and over and over again.

[–]6th_horseman 1 point2 points ago

It's not character development, character development is independent from this. No matter whether he's a normal person or a genius, there can be character development. This is simply the starting point, creating a character. And they make them so overly brilliant and charismatic and unrealisticly good at what they and it's so fake and almost every show nowdays has one. The main character is almost always superhuman.

The Newsroom, Burn notice, White collar, Community (Jeff to some degree), Person of interest, Supernatural, 24, Breaking bad off the top of my head.

[–]WhyNotTrollface 0 points1 point ago

I don't know if you could call Walter superhuman--he's definitely a chemistry genius, but it takes him a while to develop a skill set beyond that. That, and he has all dat hubris.

Heisenberg?

[–]I_FISTED_MY_GRANDMA 0 points1 point ago

Big house.

[–]TFB82 21 points22 points ago

That show should have ended when Cuddy left.

[–]BritishMongrel 61 points62 points ago

It needed closure though, without a decent ending it wouldn't have been right, besides it was always Wilson and Houses relationship that was important, Cuddy was just a side story.

[–]downvotes_are_great 17 points18 points ago

I agree and I honestly love the ending to this series I feel it was incredible.

[–]DrCoolGuy 5 points6 points ago

Watch the series finale and then the ending to "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows."

I swear you'll have newfound respect for them both.

[–]downvotes_are_great 1 point2 points ago

I havent got around to watching a game of shadows yet sadly.

[–]TFB82 -1 points0 points ago

The show could have had closure if the writers had written it that way. Instead they let the show drag on for another year and damaged everything they had built.

And Foreman as the dean? He was an intern at that hospital for a few years, quit and then came back. He had his own set of problems while he was there too. There had to be someone else in that hospital who has stronger ties and more experience.

[–]sixsidepentagon 5 points6 points ago

I don't think he was an intern, I'm pretty sure the original team were all board certified; if I remember right Foreman was supposed to be a neurologist, the chick an immunologist and the Australian dude some retarded surgeon/intensivist hybrid. Of course this idea never came into play in the show after they introduced it

[–]TFB82 3 points4 points ago

You're right. Foreman, Cameron and the other one weren't interns. Everyone after them were interns.

[–]Col_Psoas 1 point2 points ago

They're called fellows. One of the girls talked about it on her resume as she was leaving iirc

[–]LORDJEW_VAN_CUNTFUCK 3 points4 points ago

To be fair, the ending was actually really touching.

[–]TFB82 1 point2 points ago

I stopped watching halfway through the last season. I pretty much know what happens from what others have said but it just seemed like the show was just hoping for one more season. Well, they got the season but they totally trashed the previous 7(?) years that they built into a very fine show.

[–]Canucklehead99 0 points1 point ago

I finished it although, but I agree.

[–]Skoolz 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, probably, but there's no denying that the show's conclusion (last several episodes after Wilson got diagnosed) were pretty epic. The finale was one of the best I had ever seen on a show, so I am glad they had an extra season to construct it.

[–]jckgat 1 point2 points ago

It should have ended with House walking into the psych ward.

[–]Elryc35 -2 points-1 points ago

It should have ended when House and Cuddy got together.

[–]Canucklehead99 0 points1 point ago

That would totally undermine why they SHOULDN'T be together and the seven seasons that it took to get to this conclusion.

[–]Damnit_Nappa 8 points9 points ago

To receive karma all we have to do is quote a very popular show and put it in picture form?

[–]pungkrocker 10 points11 points ago

You really shouldnt care about imaginary internet points i.e no need to get upset. Its not real buddy.

[–]auxiliary-character 1 point2 points ago

My opinion is this: Karma is worthless by itself. If you're trying to share something, it's nice for it to take off. If you're willing to post something pointless for the sake of karma, then what's the point?

[–]Wibbles 0 points1 point ago

People caring about imaginary internet points is what gets shite submissions onto the site that appeal to the lowest common denominator.

[–]Crossthebreeze 0 points1 point ago

It bothers me when people say 'imaginary internet points'. They are internet points, yes. But they are not imaginary.

[–]Iplayroblox 3 points4 points ago

Can you uh... Prove that... A little more....

[–]Skoolz 2 points3 points ago

I'm going to miss that show.

I should have taken my medicine before this lecture!

[–]geordie42 3 points4 points ago

I can safely say I learned 3 new things today.

[–]SOMETHING_POTATO 0 points1 point ago

No you didn't. You've forgotten the already.

[–]stanfan114 1 point2 points ago

I knew the Beethoven one.

[–]thehippieswereright 0 points1 point ago

I recall this one, "I know what you are thinking, is the A-cup half full or is it half empty."

made me smile.

[–]knighmare 1 point2 points ago

I rather liked her character as well

[–]fluttershy91 0 points1 point ago

Nobody is going to mention the spelling mistake? Am I still on reddit?

[–]krispwnsu 0 points1 point ago

House frequents r/gonewild I hope.

[–]omg_tel_aviv 0 points1 point ago

Oh, Hugh.

[–]Kyl295 0 points1 point ago

Road House.

[–]ladydungus 0 points1 point ago

The actress really didn't understand any of that.

[–]freaktopus 1 point2 points ago

The actress is actually a very intelligent published poet. I've seen her read and met her a few times. She's quite intellectual and lovely actually. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amber_Tamblyn#Poetry

Because brilliance is the ability to recall arbitrary facts.

[–]adamdothunt 0 points1 point ago

yes brilliance is being some one who can do what 99% can't, so yes .

[–]starNlamp 0 points1 point ago

What episode is this from? This little clip may have just sparked my interest to go re-watch the series.

[–]Josh08752 0 points1 point ago

Road House.

[–]DuncanDonutz -4 points-3 points ago

/r/vertical would enjoy this as well :)

[–]chazzlabs 4 points5 points ago

Assuming this is the exact dialogue from the show, this would be explicitly forbidden in /r/vertical.

[–]AlterBridgeFan -1 points0 points ago

Oh Hugh.

[–]sickwhale 0 points1 point ago

She's the internet

[–]whitdevil -2 points-1 points ago

You know what's funny? The fact you spent time to make that and no one can read it
