All of these quotes are taken out of context.

--Romney/Ryan 2012

[–]PastorOfMuppets94 -3 points-2 points ago

It would have been even more funny if they were both credited with #12.

[–]krispwnsu -2 points-1 points ago

I lost my shit at #11. Can anyone help me find it?

[–]ilikefacts 2 points3 points ago

I think if you're even a little aware of who Charlie Bucket is, that quote should be a pretty memorable one.

But because you asked a question, I won't be a complete dick and will actually answer it for you. It is when they consume the fizzy lifting drink and Charlie and Grandpa Joe are getting too close to the fan. They then burp their way to safety.

[–]krispwnsu 1 point2 points ago

The question I meant to ask was if someone could help me find the shit I lost. Probably a bad joke but it went over a few heads I see. Thank you for being so thoughtful though.

[–]ilikefacts 1 point2 points ago

Oh. That makes more sense, I guess. I was really confused why only comment 11 threw you off.

[–]krispwnsu 0 points1 point ago

I'm sorry. I just think a little too outside of the box sometimes.

[–]maesterdoherty777 113 points114 points ago

so many out of context quotes...

[–]i_start_fires 98 points99 points ago

Yeah, and if you can't count on fair and responsible journalism from MAD Magazine, who's left to trust?

[–]trampus1 11 points12 points ago

Always been, just didn't notice or care as a kid.

[–]AptSimpsonsQuote 5 points6 points ago

They're really sockin' it to that Spiro Agnew guy again...

[–]maesterdoherty777 0 points1 point ago

ha very true

[–]aeyamar 32 points33 points ago

Yeah, it's like they're out to slander Burns's name.

[–]moonlightsun 7 points8 points ago

That's how elections are won remember.

[–]Thinks_Too_Logically 3 points4 points ago

And by the dead-vote.

[–]Mikey-2-Guns 2 points3 points ago

There is no way to take #9 out of context.

On one hand you have a president that just released beer recipes, on the other someone who is religiously forbidden to drink beer. Never trust a man that doesn't drink.

[–]SteveTheDude -1 points0 points ago

I'm not a Mormon, I don't drink, and I'm probably the most trust-worthy person in the world (all humbleness aside)

[–]brunudumal 3 points4 points ago

sorry, but seems I can't trust in this statement

[–]depotman 0 points1 point ago

From what I can gather it makes no sense for mormons to forbid alcohol. It's used all the time in the new/old testament which they also believe.

[–]claymore_kitten -1 points0 points ago

please quit trying to through a kink in the reddit circlejerk.

[–]ilikefacts 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, his attempt went right through it.

[–]tacojohn48 -5 points-4 points ago

Speaking of out of context quotes, the Republican platform is built out of one.

[–]thatrudedude 0 points1 point ago

which one?

[–]rnelsonee 4 points5 points ago

He's probably referring to the "... you didn't built that". Not that Republican platform is built on it, but the first day's theme of the RNC certainly was.

[–]alclarkey -1 points0 points ago

Yeah and it's been reposted a billionth time to boot.

maesterdoherty777: "FYI, Adolf Hitler never said that."

Bazofwaz: "Jew hater!!"

[–]Abnmlguru 37 points38 points ago

Come to think of it... I've never seen Mitt and Mr. Burns in the same room together... hrm...

[–]Phordh 16 points17 points ago

And he woulda gotten away with it, too.

[–]dafuq_978 1 point2 points ago

[–]beefinbed 9 points10 points ago

I just like that the "iced cream" quote was an option.

[–]Hotpotabo 1 point2 points ago

I was looking at #5 and I was like "nope, Romney would never say those words; at least not in that order."

[–]druno 3 points4 points ago

Repost said it.

[–]hiltonizer 16 points17 points ago

Where were all the criticisms of the being wealthy by the left when John Kerry was running? Their money made the Romney's seem like hobo's.

Can you link me to some evidence that would support the claim that he has a blatant disregard for the poor? Conservative politics alone not being disregard or contempt for the poor, we see liberalism as the disregard or contempt of an individual's economic liberty. That said, I feel most conservatives are quite charitable based, myself included.

For the record, not a Romney supporter here, and actually a former Romney supporter for Governor as I grew up in MA (have since left that shithole). I'm voting for Gary Johnson.

[–]claymore_kitten 0 points1 point ago

this is reddit of course he can't.

[–]stillnotking -4 points-3 points ago

America hasn't had a left since the 1970s. Today's Democrats are slightly to the right of Reagan and well to the right of Nixon.

[–]SteveTheDude 0 points1 point ago

There is no absolute left and no absolute right, to say that a left doesn't exist is ridiculous; everything is relative.

Compared to the 1400's, even Lamar Smith is pretty liberal.

[–]stillnotking -1 points0 points ago

A left doesn't exist in the sense that the differences between the Republican and Democratic parties today are almost entirely stylistic and superficial. I suppose one could also take that to mean that a right doesn't exist, but the country as a whole has definitely moved to the right over the last 30-40 years, i.e. it seems more accurate to characterize it as a loss of left opposition than right opposition.

[–]SteveTheDude 0 points1 point ago

I would disagree. The politicians we elect may not be diametrically opposed to each other in every issue, but that doesn't mean that ideological differences have shrunk or vanished completely.

[–]evaunit06 3 points4 points ago

Which is pretty funny and strange at the same time.

[–]stillnotking 5 points6 points ago

It tends to blow people's minds when I tell them that Nixon supported the ERA, instituted wage and price controls, established the EPA and signed the Clean Air Act. Not to mention ending the Vietnam War, opening diplomatic relations with China and signing the first major arms-control treaty with the Soviet Union. Oh, he also proposed health-care reform that was far more comprehensive and consumer-focused than the ACA. By 2012 standards the man was a flaming liberal.

[–]evaunit06 0 points1 point ago

I forget, didn't he also lower the voting age to 18 years or was that someone else?

[–]Nefarious_Lobster 26 points27 points ago

STOP POSTING STUPID POLITICAL SHIT OUTSIDE OF POLITICAL SUBREDDITS. THE POSTS ARE NOT EVEN FUNNY AND TOTALLY OUT OF CONTEXT.

[–]shaloham 5 points6 points ago

This was posted two weeks ago, and /r/funny is not a place for politics.

[–]TheLivingAwesome 2 points3 points ago

If I see this posted one more time I am going to shit into a golden bucket and rub it on the OP's nipples and let his cat lick it off. Then I will take a picture, post to r/wtf and have original content.

[–]asdfghjkl124 11 points12 points ago

I've had it with these republican hating posts. I don't support them but it's just become fucking annoying. This shit isn't even funny.

[–]leegail 3 points4 points ago

I should make one that says "Obama or a communist"

[–]notthegolfer 0 points1 point ago

But that one wouldn't be funny! It's only fun to poke at others, not ourselves.

[–]Bluest_waters -1 points0 points ago

stop whining and do it

[–]leegail 0 points1 point ago

Who's whining?

[–]_Jairus 1 point2 points ago

Meh.

[–]LOHare 0 points1 point ago

I got them all right - but that's just a testament to my obsession to The Simpsons. It didn't have to be Romney vs Burns, it could be not-Burns vs Burns, and I'd nail it.

[–]leonprimrose -1 points0 points ago

Taking things out of context like this is as bad as what fox news does to the democratic party. I'm not a republican but this bothers me.

[–]okgasman 0 points1 point ago

To be fair, you can only say that Romney has not said number 14, yet

[–]Zohanasburg -1 points0 points ago

[–]Calediggity 0 points1 point ago

i think a redditor watches too much NBC

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Isn't there a rule about keeping politics out of /r/funny?

[–]leegail 0 points1 point ago

Who's whining?

[–]brodesto -4 points-3 points ago

Repost...

[–]alexrmay91 -2 points-1 points ago

is it just me, or do #9 and #10 contradict each other?

[–]Abnmlguru 8 points9 points ago

Vernor's is a soda, not teh alcohol.

However, if the idea that a politician may say things that are contradictory alarms you, you may want to invest in some ear plugs.

[–]alexrmay91 1 point2 points ago

haha well no, i wouldn't put it past a politician. but thank you for clarifying.

[–]bickers 1 point2 points ago

Vernor's is just soda, according to wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernor%27s]

[–]502wut 2 points3 points ago

It's some of the best ginger ale in the world. I was so happy when most stores in Dallas started carrying it. It's also available in diet. And it doesn't lose much of the flavor.

[–]tedthedog -1 points0 points ago

Part of me hopes Mitt Romney loses in November solely so he can know the taste of an ice cold concession-beer.

[–]infiniteart -1 points0 points ago

Romney is awesome. He has my vote.

[–]4chanexplorer -4 points-3 points ago

pretty sure in a couple months both will have said the last one

[–]BelphegoreTheSloth 4 points5 points ago

Troglodytes is probably not in Romney's vocabulary
