Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Different rat... Maybe the cat got hungry! LOOK OUT, RAT FROM OP'S PICTURE!

[–]beanso 129 points130 points ago

Rats have a lifespan of 2-3 years.

[–]broden 141 points142 points ago

The purfect crime.

[–]tabovilla 18 points19 points ago

I'm rattled by your ideas

[–]calicojones 8 points9 points ago

Keep it on a leash, buddy.

[–]geeca 1 point2 points ago

Rats off to you for that pun.

[–]Will_Power 1 point2 points ago

I actually groaned out loud when I read that.

[–]broden 1 point2 points ago

I was going to type "perfect crime" but I knew someone would ftfy me. And it probably wouldn't even be through real will. It would be because it is expected of them. A dire statement on reddit culture and we have only ourselves to blame.

[–]procrasticator 16 points17 points ago

not scabbers

[–]dangerous_beans 3 points4 points ago

Scabbers is a perfect example of fridge horror.

[–]mhurton 3 points4 points ago

oh hello troper

[–]MrShittyFatTits 4 points5 points ago

Yes they do. Just enough time to get attached. I miss you, Molly.

[–]mollyastro 1 point2 points ago

Miss you too

[–]SwisherSweets 12 points13 points ago

This guy has used multiple rats. Article linked above says he arrived in SF summer of '08. Before that I had seen him twice, on road trips I took to Santa Barbara between 06-07.

[–]nexttolastunicorn 3 points4 points ago

Saw him in Santa Barbara in '06 as well.

[–]goletaal 1 point2 points ago

I saw him in SB as well, I think as late as 09, but I could be wrong.

[–]trollbrainwinsagain 0 points1 point ago

He Let me play with the rat in SF! I love rats.

[–]pinkcoco 4 points5 points ago

I worked with him during the Sturgis Rally the last couple of years. He's a really nice guy, and one day he asked if I knew a way to get to a pet store. Someone stole his rat! The just walked off with it. I guess it wasn't the first time, and sometimes the rats are harder to train. He's had several.

[–]SuperBananners 21 points22 points ago

[–]SterlingFox 6 points7 points ago

I saw them in Ft Worth too, but about a year and half ago, at the Stockyards. I didn't think to get a picture though, but my older sis has one somewhere.

[–]abletorelate 6 points7 points ago

I saw them (with the white rat) in Austin around the same time.

I think he called them Kitty (the dog), Booger (the cat), and Mousey (the rat). He gave me a "business card" with their names, it's gone now. Actually that stack of cards in the back of your photo looks like them.

[–]dizzerp 3 points4 points ago

I bet while the cat read your tarot the rat pick pocketed you.

[–]Jonny_Watts 2 points3 points ago

At first I thought you were calling out a repost.

On another note, 1329126601578.

[–]aronious 1 point2 points ago

I saw them a few years ago in downtown Fort Worth, TX at Sundance Square with a jar full of cash next them. I think drugs are involved, but couldn't prove anything.

[–]racehorsehanes 0 points1 point ago

Ft. Worth, Woo!

[–]Dowhead 0 points1 point ago

Same here! Except the picture taking part.

[–]creepyREX 0 points1 point ago

Were they dead?

[–]someprimetime 132 points133 points ago

The guy who does this is a prick. Saw him in downtown SF a couple years ago yelling at someone for taking a picture and not giving him money.

[–]kluda06 67 points68 points ago

YEP!!!!! 100% TRUE! I saw this guy in Fort Worth TX and he let me me pet his cat but right when I took out my phone to take a picture he asked if I had $5. I said I didn't have cash than he got made and told me to not even bother taking pictures if I'm not going to pay. He was really rude about it and it ticked me off so I just left.

[–]HappyTreeSpirit 25 points26 points ago

you should of not given a fuck and just kept snapping pictures.

[–]dankhimself 17 points18 points ago

"Oh so you want five bucks for a picture eh? Well I'll have you know that I just took six photographs while saying this very sentence. Good day to you." Then you lean back, light a smoke, spin a cane and stroll down the sidewalk like you own the world.

[–]bill_nydus 36 points37 points ago

White people fantasies.

[–]RoyallyTenenbaumed 2 points3 points ago

I'm white and I don't get this at all.

[–]Exducer 1 point2 points ago

Then you can't be white. It's logic.

[–]RoyallyTenenbaumed 0 points1 point ago

damn..I've been lawyered!

[–]shiny_shiny 3 points4 points ago

Excellent imagery.

[–]reginafalange1 5 points6 points ago

it's a public space, legally you can take pictures with any permission. this guy sounds like an asshole.

[–]oep4 22 points23 points ago

That sucks. I saw him in SF too, at Union Square and he let me take A picture. Was a really nice guy. Said it was a metaphor for how we should all get along. He's homeless, though, so maybe you were ignoring him and just focusing on his animals? I spoke to him, and then engaged his animals. He seemed friendly. I just think he wants people to recognize the fact that he trained them to do that, and it's basically what he thinks of as his "job".

[–]Bardlar 1 point2 points ago

I've heard about him in the news, all the way up here in Canada... Yeah... We have some slow news days. There are news reports on every murder, and still we use fluff segments like crazy, some of which don't even originate in Canada.

[–]tineyeit 18 points19 points ago

There's also a bunch of shady (probably animal cruelty) things he's known for doing. There's other people saying he gives the medicine so they'll sleep during events and that the animals are basically not cared for other than to make sure they look ok when out.

[–]VerdantSepulcher 19 points20 points ago

monks do that with tigers in thailand.

Don't ever pay people for cute animals.

[–]FredFnord 6 points7 points ago

I know, let's repeat unfounded rumors over and over until 'everyone knows' they're true.

[–]biurb 5 points6 points ago

this article addresses those rumors

[–]go_fly_a_kite 0 points1 point ago

people say the president wasn't born in the US.

[–]kantorekB14 0 points1 point ago

He is homeless, you could afford a bit of change for the guy?

[–]bitnode 0 points1 point ago

As a guy who was in New Orleans, it is very common to ask for money for any sort of "street artist'm." I was recording a street performer once and this girl shot a picture of a man then tried to walk away. The guy quickly scolded her and told her that if she is going to take a picture she should at least give him something. The people who do this make a living off of this. While a large percent of people do not know this, do not be taken back by this. Although they should at least be polite enough to ask and not yell at people. It isnt good for business. :(

[–]AWildSketchAppeared 318 points319 points ago

[–]Cptn_Sisko 44 points45 points ago

[–]Rentun 36 points37 points ago

Man, Joey got old.

[–]goal2004 14 points15 points ago

And funny, too, actually.

[–]RoyallyTenenbaumed 17 points18 points ago

He looks like George Clooney's less-handsome brother now

[–]wheatfields 5 points6 points ago

naw it just appeared to be sudden. What happened is he just stopped dying his hair.

[–]chaoshavok 3 points4 points ago

He had been dying his hair black through most the show.

[–]ChuckYeah 1 point2 points ago

Shut up Joey.

[–]Speezix 28 points29 points ago

Very nice, sketcher. It appears to be that this kitty LOVES those meeces to pieces... Even if it's a rat.

[–]RussDub 4 points5 points ago

Upvote for Parliament.

[–]BlackZeppelin 6 points7 points ago

How long did it take you to do the shading on the upper lip?

[–]boars_b4_whores 22 points23 points ago

I see a lot of claims of him drugging the animals here in the comments, but you're the only one with proof. And the proof seems to vindicate the owner...

Edit: I'm talking about the animals here, not the owner. I don't trust anyone that seemingly lives on the street in the tenderloin

[–]Swinly 9 points10 points ago

"By Pike’s account, the officers were frustrated that he didn’t have identification, and found a crack rock “on the ground” near him."

The guy's not fooling anyone, but, as long as he's not mistreating the animals, who cares what he does with his time and money.

[–]boars_b4_whores 10 points11 points ago

Hey man, as long as your pets are in good health, you can smoke depleted uranium for all I care.

[–]aphexcoil 7 points8 points ago

I've heard it's got a long half-life, too.

[–]Tumble85 7 points8 points ago

Well, he's for sure full of crap about the crack rock not being his - if you've been to the Tenderloin before, you'll know that it's full of people who buy crack, smoke crack, and sell crack. And you'll also know that people who are into crack sure as shit won't drop a rock and forget about it, they'll find that rock sure as the sun will rise.

But, apart from the drug use (which I can't really hold against the guy too much, drug addiction is a pretty serious illness and it's not like I've never used drugs, either) he appears to keep his animals very healthy, which is fantastic. He seems like the kind of guy who really needs his animals to keep himself together.

[–]boars_b4_whores 0 points1 point ago

Oh I have indeed been there. I was talking about his treatment is the animals. The guy's almost definitely on the rock.

[–]mckillamari 0 points1 point ago

I'm not buying the crack story but it's the reality of life on the street. This guy is a vagabond. Rolling through towns with his circus. I live in SF. I've seen him here once or twice as I work downtown. Everytime he comes through there is always some hubub about it. Maybe that's why we don't see him here amymore.

[–]neurosin 1 point2 points ago

This is sound advice.

[–]Spinal365 0 points1 point ago

Has nature given up?

[–]ast86 18 points19 points ago

This guy is from Santa Barbara, the owner asked me to watch these 3 while he went to the bathroom one time

[–]leatheryhamster 8 points9 points ago

Yeah, I've seen him in Santa Barbara as well, I grew up in that area. Usually he's around State Street.

[–]snippy_gerbil 13 points14 points ago

That is one well-behaved rat.

stares at gerbils with a look of disapproval

[–]helix19 3 points4 points ago

Rats are much more intelligent, friendly, and trainable then the other common rodent species.

[–]LunarFalcon 15 points16 points ago

I miss my pet rat. RIP Amadeus.

[–]Speezix 5 points6 points ago

I had one as a kid for a few years, her name was Gertrude. She was awesome. She eventually died, in this case, it was a tumor. (Kindergarten Cop)

[–]dankhimself 0 points1 point ago

Who was her daddy and what did he do?

[–]rabidsi 1 point2 points ago

Fancy (domesticated) rats, if they are kept healthy and live through to old age invariably will succumb to tumours (females especially) or respiratory infections.

[–]Kittyz_fo_Brakfust 1 point2 points ago

Rats are great pets. I just wish they lived longer. Here are mine: Daisy and Woodstock

[–]Thothknuc 103 points104 points ago

This guy spent years in Bisbee, AZ, living in my neighborhood, and is not kind to these animals when he is not being watched. Unfortunately, not a cool individual.

[–]Tumble85 109 points110 points ago

Not true, our city checked the animals out and said they were all very healthy. Don't spread rumors like this, the guy is homeless/semi-homeless and probably needs these animals to keep his life together, financially and mentally.

http://www.sfweekly.com/2009-04-22/news/animal-control-gives-dog-cat-rat-man-s-pets-a-clean-bill-of-health/

[–]Peach_Muffin 6 points7 points ago

This really needs to be upvoted higher, or this guy (and by extension, his pets) are going to really suffer.

[–]SenenCito 41 points42 points ago

as I understand these animals are drugged so he can keep them in this position. Not a good thing

[–]pikindaguy 20 points21 points ago

From a link elsewhere in the thread

http://www.sfweekly.com/2009-04-22/news/animal-control-gives-dog-cat-rat-man-s-pets-a-clean-bill-of-health/

Now the results are in. Rumors of rope or dope can be put to rest, according to Guldbech: "The animals were in great condition," she says.

[–]supersnuffy 36 points37 points ago

Really? Source?

[–]NoDew 18 points19 points ago

Here: http://www.sfweekly.com/2009-04-22/news/animal-control-gives-dog-cat-rat-man-s-pets-a-clean-bill-of-health/

Oh wait, that says the animals are completely healthy, and these rumors are just that. =/

[–]SenenCito 37 points38 points ago

It was a comment from an nyc thread, a veterinarian recognized the pets condition. Might not be the same guy, but it sure appears to be the same technique

[–]Omena123 11 points12 points ago

Your source is....a reddit comment?

[–]DionysosX 0 points1 point ago

Yeah.

Spending ridiculous amounts of time and effort to train three animals of different species (to do something that may even be impossible - can you even train a rat anything?) or scoring some shit around the corner to drug the animals out of their minds?

What's the hobo gonna do?

[–]eilonwy 45 points46 points ago

Rats are extremely trainable!

[–]IndubENTably 5 points6 points ago

My chihuahuas/cats/rats all get along great. He speaks false words.

[–]OBLITERATED_ANUS 25 points26 points ago

Given the care time and effort, you can do this. And yes rats can be trained, they are very intelligent, social animals.

Source: I love rodents.

[–]gyarrrrr 4 points5 points ago

Going by your username, I'm guessing in a Richard Gere kind of way, right?

[–]OBLITERATED_ANUS 6 points7 points ago

I had to Google that to find out what you meant.

Shame on you.

[–]pumpkinnoggin 3 points4 points ago

Then how did you obliterate your anus?

[–]arkain123 9 points10 points ago

can you even train a rat anything?

B.F. Skinner says hello

[–]forgettableme 2 points3 points ago

Searched "cat and rat cuddling" and found lots of videos on youtube... yes, it can be done if they all are raised together.

[–]WilyWondr 0 points1 point ago

Plenty of dogs and cats get along just fine. I have no idea on the cat/rat affiliation, but I do not doubt that domesticated cats and rats can get along just fine.

[–]Darthmalt 0 points1 point ago

In a survival situation rats are smaller and therefore prey hence sailing ships keeping cats to prevent a mice problem.

When a cat is domesticated and well fed mice squirrels and other rodents are generally an object of curiosity/play where hunting instincts take over. Raise or train them to be accustomed to rats the same as you do dogs to be used to cats.

The rat or mouse is just going to run from anything bigger than it until it becomes used to, and unafraid of people cats and dogs.

[–]musicsexual 0 points1 point ago

Rats are extremely intelligent and can be litter trained in less than a week. It usually takes ~1-2 weeks to train a rat to come when called. They are very intelligent pets.

[–]moderndayvigilante 0 points1 point ago

Great source there, er, fuck head.

[–]Sloppy1sts 11 points12 points ago

I was wondering how in the hell this situation arises and being drugged makes more sense than anything else I can think of.

[–]greenyellowbird 0 points1 point ago

I've read the same thing about 'Pocket Pets', they sell sugar gliders at mall kiosks.

No source though.

[–]wow_great_name -1 points0 points ago

Oh thank god. I assumed they were stuffed

[–]sanktron 1 point2 points ago

If this is the same guy I saw in fort worth the animals can jump on each others backs on command as they walk down the street. Not sure how they could do that drugged.

[–]Theevildeadd 3 points4 points ago

I saw him in Tucson also.

[–]TrumansRevenge 3 points4 points ago

I have a pic of what appear to be the same dog and cat with a different rat. Taken in San Francisco a couple years ago. http://i.imgur.com/rMuss.jpg

[–]CaptCon 12 points13 points ago

Came here to say this. That guy is a POS that hurts those animals for tips.

[–]NoDew 23 points24 points ago

They were given a clean bill of health: http://www.sfweekly.com/2009-04-22/news/animal-control-gives-dog-cat-rat-man-s-pets-a-clean-bill-of-health/

Let's put away the pitchforks.

[–]1Ender 16 points17 points ago

wait....mothefucking what? Can we get some background info on this?

Edit: Was posted underneath. The animals are fine

http://www.sfweekly.com/2009-04-22/news/animal-control-gives-dog-cat-rat-man-s-pets-a-clean-bill-of-health/

[–]EarlobeAnalProbe 0 points1 point ago

Yep, he was bumming around Colorado many years ago with a different cat, looks like the same dog though. Complete piece of shit, don't give him money.

[–]monsterror 1 point2 points ago

I've also seen him in Austin during SxSW.

[–]quaite 0 points1 point ago

Hello 20 mile away neighbor! I've used to see him on my weekly trips to Bisbee also right across from the Bisbee coffee company at the library/post office. I heard the same about him also heard crazy rumors about him being charged with cruelty.

[–]ILaughAtFunnyShit 11 points12 points ago

Tom, Jerry, and Spike?

[–]AmazingSimply 6 points7 points ago

Now try to take them across a lake, only one can be taken in the boat at a time though.

[–]ionfrigate 6 points7 points ago

To people debating about where this arrangement of animals is from, whether the owner is a jerk, and whether or not he drugs his animals:

Not only could the person be moving around, but there also might be more than one person doing this act. While clever, it's not exactly the theory of special relativity; moreover, one person could have seen this, and copied the act.

[–]charliepotts 2 points3 points ago

Taking five during a Tom and Jerry shoot.

[–]monkeypal 0 points1 point ago

The dog the cat and the mouse agree
to live together peacefully. With
this truce they won't tinker, the one
that does is a stinker.

Signed Tom, Jerry and Yours truly

[–]Ranzero 2 points3 points ago

Does anyone else see Spike, Tom, and Jerry?

[–]Henge 3 points4 points ago

dog is all "lulz, I'm a bed." rat is all "lulz, I'm a pillow." cat is all "lulz, I'm awesome."

:)

[–]UOcUKAkira 2 points3 points ago

So you can balance dead animals...whaddya want, KARMA?

[–]four24ever 1 point2 points ago

The cat has a mouse as a pillow.

[–]gutyex 7 points8 points ago

That's a rat.

I saw this guy with the animals downtown a lot when I lived in Santa Barbara too.

[–]voracioush 2 points3 points ago

What kind of dog is that

[–]Vulshocker 0 points1 point ago

Was there also a river to cross, and a boat that could only hold you and one of the animals?

[–]DMachino 0 points1 point ago

Tom, Jerry, and that one dog.

[–]Banannarose -1 points0 points ago

I saw this guy sometimes in Colorado! Sometimes there's a lil birdy there instead of the mouse

[–]dudix81 -1 points0 points ago

They got rid of the rooster and made a new rat friend? I didn't know!

[–]haiku_robot 1 point2 points ago

They got rid of the

friend? I didn't know!

[–]mizixi 0 points1 point ago

I saw a cockatiel riding on a dog's head at the farmer's market today. Didn't get a chance to snap a picture...

[–]SkyPork 0 points1 point ago

This is the worst Tom & Jerry episode ever.

[–]YGZOIM 0 points1 point ago

This reminds me of Grant Morrison's We3.

[–]Drunktech 0 points1 point ago

Fucking 'Napping House' shit right there.

[–]bstormy 1 point2 points ago

Zoey!

[–]oldswirlo 0 points1 point ago

I saw them yesterday at the Laramie farmer's market and planned to post my photo as well. The early bird gets the karma, drats!

[–]holyhellitsgreg 0 points1 point ago

i feel like i've been cheated

[–]Aspel 0 points1 point ago

Are they starting up their own Bremen Town Musical Club?

[–]Aidansteele 0 points1 point ago

Holy crap, someone from my town made it to the front page!

[–]Texas03 0 points1 point ago

You're a PHONY! A big fat Phony!

[–]TheLastRobotStanding 0 points1 point ago

All of these animals are natural predators. They must of all been asleep, then stacked. Beware when they wake up, they may be surprised and do something irrational.

[–]xymog 0 points1 point ago

They did not get the memo that gigs eat cats eat rodents.

[–]boing757 0 points1 point ago

If you give money to a "street entertainer" or any other beggars you're buying drugs by proxy.

[–]besaph 0 points1 point ago

that is possibly the most adorable rat i have ever seen.

[–]-TinMan- 0 points1 point ago

When ever I see a picture like this, I imagine this is how the people feel with all that karma. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20060926204518/filmguide/images/e/ea/Giant_ursula.jpg

[–]kmlweather 0 points1 point ago

I saw the same scene in San Francisco.........

[–]kmlweather 0 points1 point ago

Except I have a VIDEO of them walking down the street still stacked. I'll have to dig for it.

[–]Ian1732 0 points1 point ago

When you said "full of karma", I expected a narwhal, a pile of bacon, and Neil Degrasse Tyson. Or some assortment to that effect.

[–]kleanklay[!] 0 points1 point ago

I was wondering how anyone could get these animals lined up like this....then it came to me: http://i.imgur.com/YHWw5.jpg

[–]sillykitty1990 0 points1 point ago

I've seen them in the stockyards a few times!

Okay. Stop. Who is to say? The guy travels with his dog who has a cat and a rat on it's back. Odd? Yes. The animals are all well cared for. A symbol of breaking the stereotypes we all come to accept. I got to know this happy quartet and they made me realize how skeptical I had become. I am happy to remember my days seeing them on the streets of Santa Fe.

Did it take anyone else forever to find that mouse?

All they need are some cute voices and we could have a movie.

All we need is a donkey and a rooster and we're set.

This guy was at Union Square in San Francisco, California, with the same 3 animals. He told me he was on Animal Planet because of how much attention these 3 were getting.

[–]PublicAccessNYC 0 points1 point ago

There's a guy in nyc with the same mo. The one here allegedly keeps the animals doped up, not nice.
