Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

I was in that tan building right in the middle. I opened a window thinking today was a good day. So I took in a deep breath with joy. At that moment the dust storm came over the building.

Edit: sorry I forgot to say something. I was facing away from the storm and knew nothing about it until I got a lungful of sand and dust.

I was outside, walking home from work, when this hit. Because of where I was I couldn't see how close it was until it hit. I was about 10 feet from my door when the cloud came over. While sheltered by the building it was barely dense enough to be visible as it started, yet I had an immediate and violent reaction. I must have been allergic to something in the dust; I don't recall having taken a full breath yet my throat and lungs were on fire and I was hacking and coughing violently. I couldn't breathe.

Covering my face and with keys already in hand I had less than 10 feet to go to get in my door and out of the dust. I almost didn't make it. Even once I got inside to clean air I still almost collapsed, and it was over an hour before I was able to breathe normally again.

I was actually quite lucky. Normally I walked home from work but for no apparent reason a friend had given me a ride and dropped me in front of my building, so I only had less than half a block to walk and was home much sooner. Had I walked home directly from work I would have been caught in the open more than a block from any type of shelter. As crazy and trivial as that may seem, based on the reaction I had I'm convinced I likely would not have survived, or at least would have been hospitalized.

... I am so very glad I don't live there anymore.

I was there when it happened. I was driving on the highway, unaware that mattresses would random appear. Sucks that I drive a slammed honda civic like ever vato that lives here in Phoenix.

Moral of the story..? Don't chain rip trees and attempt to drive in chaos like this with a vato lowered civic. -.-

Those who believe in God might think this is a sign...

Or we could just think its a dust storm...

I like the idea of god smiting evildoers. Like the people of Phoenix and the Republican Convention. Smite! Smite their ass!
