          Mice are a very, very resilient species. Now, this one obviously wouldn't survive. That said, they have been known to swim for nearly a day (in a lab environment) before giving up hope of getting out.

          The will to survive is particularly strong in them, and the topic is discussed in depth on one radiolab podcast.

                                          Its a snapping turtle, they eat basically any animal they can fit in their mouth, usually small mammals, birds and fish. They need to eat animals, they aren't omnivores.

                                          While I do understand that you could/should feed frozen mice, I don't see anything inherently wrong with livefeeding in this case, because the snapping turtle isn't going to be potentially harmed by the mouse like a snake would, which is the only real reason why people advocate against livefeeding, because your pet may get hurt. But this is a turtle, it isn't going to be harmed by a mouse. It probably even enjoys livefeeding, considering evolution has prepared it over millions of years to eat live things that are trying to get away from it.

                                          Also, snapping turtles seem like horrible pets, unless you enjoy having 9 and a half fingers.

I understand that this is what happens in nature, but usually in nature there isn't a psycopath instigating it and filming it.                                               In reality, animals like lions, leopards, etc, don't eat three square meals a day at 8am, 12pm, and 6pm. They eat when they can. So if they can't get a meal for a few days, they are built to adapt. But one thing's for certain, they will never pass up an easy meal. Honestly, this gif does represent nature. That turtle doesn't give a flying fuck about the mouse, it just wants to survive.

                                                      It's not the same. I have a California King Snake and (s)he will NOT eat frozen mice. Even after warming them up under warm/hot tap water.

                                                      And believe me, I've tried. I've dangled it around, let it sit in the feeding tank for hours, etc... but nothing.
