Tangentially related, theism is a personal adoption to a religiously inspired set of philosophies; a socially communicated virus if you will. priests in medieval monasteries spent much time copying all sorts of texts and books -- most of them were probably of religious nature, but some of the scientific texts were also preserved due to this practice
