I found shards of glass in food from Walmart once. No one gave a damn when I called the store to warn them (I didn't hurt myself but felt they probably ought to take those particular goods off the shelves). I sent an e-mail to the store and never even got a reply, then I sent a mail to the area headquarters, nothing, then I sent a mail AND a letter including the shards to Walmart American HQ -I was kind of pissed no one even bothered to reply by then- and guess what? Never heard anything back.

Sure is a nice business they're running there.

[–]SHIT_IN_HER_CUNT 16 points17 points ago

Honestly? I'm gonna go the reddit route, save the food + glass shard = out of court settlement

[–]SojuSojuSoju 1 point2 points ago

That'll be quite the court scene.

"Food quality not withstanding, isn't it true that you once, in your past, SHAT IN A WOMAN'S CUNT?!?"

Weak stomached jury members faint

[–]volk96 0 points1 point ago

This isn't funny at all.

[–]ThatGuy482 4 points5 points ago

Go to your local media. Not only will this make a great sweeps piece for them, but you'll also do some good in the end probably.

[–]PigBenisWielder 2 points3 points ago

what food???

[–]Malgas 12 points13 points ago

You could be eating it right now.

We'll tell you what it is...at 11.

[–]Quillworth 2 points3 points ago

But first, 56 minutes of things that won't kill you and will only slightly annoy or nearly amuse you.

And commercials.

[–]bearpotato 1 point2 points ago

Large businesses have a stricy policy that customer service isn't allowed to respond to anything deemed a 'legal threat'. They have to wait for a lawyer to contact their legal department. They don't want to make anything worse by an employee saying something dumb.

[–]Newestmember 1 point2 points ago

They have a revenue of about 450 billion and about 9,000 locations, they may not be a "nice business" but they are doing something right.

[–]Vesploogie 287 points288 points ago

Walmart couldn't care less about what gets stolen from their customers.

Edit: that went right over my head for too long...

[–]rasonj 48 points49 points ago

As a former Wal-Mart Asset Protection Associate, pretty much the only cases I cared about were ones where the customer was the victim. Corporate may be unfeeling jerks, but the employees are diverse humans.

[–]Omegaman2010 2 points3 points ago

As a fellow former Wal-Mart Sales Associate, who's sole purpose everyday was helping the customer exploit Wal-mart's price system, I can conferm this

[–]Dregon 5 points6 points ago

I am a grammar nazi. You shall die.

[–]looseleafer 152 points153 points ago

couldcouldcouldcouldcouldcould

[–]DrCoolGuy 77 points78 points ago

He means you should have used "couldn't."

They could not care less.

[–]MartinOWood 29 points30 points ago

If they could care less... don't they care a little? I hate language and talking that's why I'm on Reddit. Now I could couldn't feel socially awkward again.

[–]AKBigDaddy 64 points65 points ago

Couldn't care less means they are out of fucks to give. COULD care less means there are a few fucks left they could give out. So while the masses typically use "Could care less" it's technically more correct to say "Couldn't care less" and since Hermes has taught us all that being technically right is the best kind of right, we will all henceforth say "Couldn't care less" and correct the idjits

[–]jamesthepeach 26 points27 points ago

David Mitchell Everyone

Edit: formatting

[–]AKBigDaddy 8 points9 points ago

Dear god yes. I LOVE this video

[–]jamesthepeach 3 points4 points ago

Well, I have a love for Mr. Mitchell, in a hetero way but still a good strong loving bond for his humour. I will submit myself to using British spelling just for this post.

[–]roboroller 3 points4 points ago

Okay, every time someone makes this mistake someone posts this video. Every. single. fucking. time.

But you know what?

I ain't even mad. Because I watch it every. single. fucking. time. Because it's awesome.

[–]tlisia 15 points16 points ago

I think this might be an Americanism, to be honest. In the UK, it's 'couldn't care less' all the way. Probably just the negative got minimised and eventually lost over time through normal speech and accent patterns blah blah blah. You end up with a phrase that doesn't make sense really but people understand it so who's really going to mess with that?

Except that it's so annoying.

[–]whatgetsyouoff 14 points15 points ago

It's totally an americanism. And it's totally fucking annoying.

[–]RoflCopter4 1 point2 points ago

That really doesn't explain it though. Do you people ever think about what you're saying when you say it? Obviously I don't mean all Americans say that, but it seems a good percentage do, and it's nonsensical.

[–]AKBigDaddy 3 points4 points ago

Exactly. I'm American, and it drives me up the wall. It conveys that you DO in fact care about said topic, anywhere from a miniscule amount to caring about it above life itself.

[–]lordlicorice 1 point2 points ago

I used to rage like you until someone on Reddit explained it to me. You can think of "I could care less" as a sarcastic remark, like "good thing anyone cares."

Even though this is probably not what they meant, it's like aloe on the rage burned brain.

[–]xxsmokealotxx 0 points1 point ago

maybe an americanism, but as an american, I'm driven nuts to correct it... couldn't care less is my polite " I don't give a fuck"

[–]kaiden333 3 points4 points ago

[–]Kelsomatic 16 points17 points ago

Couldn't... They couldn't care less.

[–]Vesploogie 9 points10 points ago

I'll change that! Thank you.

[–]Kelsomatic 12 points13 points ago

Oh good. I figured you would just think I was being a dick. This is one of my biggest pet peeves, because almost everyone messes this up. It's like everyone is walking around not making sense all the time and no one notices. Sorry, it just really upsets me, haha.

[–]kaihatsusha 6 points7 points ago

They're not messing it up. It's just eroded historically from "as if I could care less," said in a sarcastic tone. Every single time somebody uses this very common phrase, twenty people go off onto a bender complaining about it. It's not that big a deal.

[–]Kelsomatic 3 points4 points ago

Interesting, although I can't recall hearing anyone say it the sarcastic way that you've provided, it does make sense. The way that Vesploogie said it originally though still does not makes sense.

Just because if it is an eroded form of another saying, doesn't mean that it makes sense, it just means that the majority of people are making the same mistake.

[–]SupermanV2 4 points5 points ago

Like my dignity?

[–]Alpharmonic 11 points12 points ago

What dignity?

[–]CommandADelete 14 points15 points ago

He meant virginity.

[–]SupermanV2 6 points7 points ago

Is it weird that I actually have no idea where I lost my virginity? I should probably be worried about that.

[–]quazimoto69 20 points21 points ago

I found it, it was right next to you. I'm beginning to think you never lost it in the first place...

[–]Alpharmonic 7 points8 points ago

Ooh, need some Icy Hot for that burn? I hear it goes well on virgin ballsacks.

[–]SupermanV2 18 points19 points ago

Just in case anyone takes that seriously. Never put Icy Hot on your junk. Ever.

[–]quazimoto69 4 points5 points ago

Tigerbalm. My balls. Freshman year of high school. Never again.

[–]Alpharmonic 4 points5 points ago

But I need other people to feel my pain...

[–]Alpharmonic 3 points4 points ago

Unfortunately he's stuck with that one. For life.

[–]SupermanV2 22 points23 points ago

[–]arcainic 2 points3 points ago

Give them a break, they work in Walmart after all.

[–]boombassaboom 3 points4 points ago

You mean they could not care less, if they could care less then that means they care some, in which case you might as well say wal mart cares about what gets stolen from there customers.

[–]James-VZ 55 points56 points ago

Jennifer Level: Moody.

[–]TheAtomicPlayboy 659 points660 points ago

Nothing about this is WTF.

[–]quazimoto69 329 points330 points ago

It's ok; at least it violates the first rule in bold to the immediate right.

[–]Scuzzzy 16 points17 points ago

And mods won't do jack shit about it. Hence why this subreddit has quickly become the go-to for a quick front page. The dumpster of the rest of reddit.

[–]SamKhan95 66 points67 points ago

Nah man I started tripping when I read this post.

IT'S SO WTF!

[–]waidot 21 points22 points ago

Yeah seriously? They work at the deli, they probably got meat and oily stuff all over the phone, I am definitely not buying it anymore after reading this. WTF

[–]SamKhan95 8 points9 points ago

Lol your comment was more Wtf than the OP.

[–]daxattacks 8 points9 points ago

The part where someone steals an iphone and leaves the SIM card in is a little bit WTF.

[–]aryst0krat 18 points19 points ago

I'm pretty sure if this happened to you, you would say WTF.

Not saying that means it belongs in this subreddit, though.

[–]Damaband41 3 points4 points ago

Why not? Just because it's not a spider pic or some weird item they pretend not to know what it is, doesn't mean it's not fucked up.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]PuroMichoacan 5 points6 points ago

/r/misc does a decent job.

[–]orijing 5 points6 points ago

Maybe the WTF part is that this post is in WTF even though it's not WTF, thus making you remark, WTF bro?

[–]creepypaste 7 points8 points ago

Isn't it ironic? Like rain on your wedding day.

[–]AmbiguousThreat 4 points5 points ago

Not yet.

[–]Damaband41 3 points4 points ago

I'd say this is totally WTF. It's not spiders or old lady coochie shots, but it's pretty fucked up and belongs here (although this sort of behavior should be expected given that it's Wal Mart)...

[–]RoflCopter4 4 points5 points ago

Look at the rules in the sidebar. It violates three.

[–]Uzerwhat 34 points35 points ago

and this is why stealing an iphone isn't smart.

[–]BCBUDDHA 50 points51 points ago

well I'm pretty sure walmart doesn't have a rocket science department....

[–]VirtualAnarchy 77 points78 points ago

Cleanup on isle... upside down nine.

[–]nohalfmeasures 21 points22 points ago

Now tha was funny. Real question is, did you misspell "aisle" on purpose?

[–]ChowderMann 9 points10 points ago

You have a typo yourself.

[–]Kadmos 16 points17 points ago

Maybe he really meant isle...

Isle Upside Down Nine, by Sandals

[–]sethky 15 points16 points ago

I am from Kentucky and can confirm that this is believable.

[–]MeanestBossEver 15 points16 points ago

Walmart is bad for employees, communities, the environment and taxpayers.

Yes, they have explaining to do. Not so much about this.

[–]nofear220 5 points6 points ago

This just in, walmart is a terrible company, in other news water is wet.

[–]TheAtheistPOV 8 points9 points ago

This is way I love websites like reddit, because we can catch shit like this and make Walmart do something about it besides just deleting her posts

[–]quazimoto69 50 points51 points ago

I will never stop thinking it's absolutely hilarious and downright stupid that people post these sensationalist stories to corporations' or musicians' Facebook page. Like, sure, you might get a couple thousand 'likes', but in the end the only real way to notify a company of your dissatisfaction is through their customer service or the courts, otherwise they don't give a shit.

[–]SupermanV2 76 points77 points ago

Wait, you're saying I can't cure cancer by liking the picture on Facebook? My whole life is a lie.

[–]CommandADelete 31 points32 points ago

So I'm not going to hell for ignoring it?

[–]Alpharmonic 24 points25 points ago

Let's face it, you were going to hell for a lot of other things.

[–]CommandADelete 4 points5 points ago

why are you so mean

[–]Spyderbro 2 points3 points ago

No, you still are.

[–]brizzlegrizzle 11 points12 points ago

I don't know. I work for an electronics retail store in Canada and it seems whenever somebody complains on Facebook, they take care of the issue promptly. Now, I am sure the same thing would happen if you called in to customer service but of course they don't like the bad publicity on Facebook either.

[–]quazimoto69 0 points1 point ago

Sure, but I'm talking massive corporations (Target, Walmart, McDonalds).

[–]creepypaste 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, real companies, not fake shit like 'Canadian' milkbag stores.

[–]daxattacks 8 points9 points ago

called the 1800 number and complained, someone was supposed to call me.

[–]looseleafer 44 points45 points ago

no youre wrong because viral marketing is actually super fucking effective and it can work against you too, ie this will get reported by journalists

[–]FMWavesOfTheHeart 5 points6 points ago

It depends on the company. Some like to avoid having this shit on their public pages where everyone can see it. In that case, they'll rectify the situation.

[–]Plancus 6 points7 points ago

Waaaaaallmart, you have some 'splainiiiiin' to doooo!

[–]BemyManikin 1 point2 points ago

I can actually say that the one I work at in AZ, most of the people that steal from us don't really get a ticket from the cops unless they steal over $250 worth of stuff. Ironiclly I work in the deli, and I have had people drop money and I've given it back to them. GOODIE-TWO-SHOES FTW!

[–]thatsmybix 1 point2 points ago

I heard an anecdote from the chief scientist at IBM earlier this year: something like 20%* of Walmart's new hires had been found guilty in the past of shoplifting... from Walmart. The Walmart HR department's hiring and vetting software doesn't "talk" to Walmart's own security database. Sad but true. *I'm making that statistic up because I don't remember exactly what the percentage was, but it was a surprisingly high percentage.

[–]RenegadeX28 1 point2 points ago

She got her phone back so basically it doesn't matter to them anymore. Asset Protection probably were too lazy to launch the investigation...

[–]pikaboo40 4 points5 points ago

Fucking Walmart they treat their live fish like shit. Everytime I go I see awfully sad betta's and always many other types of fish floating dead in their tanks. Makes me want to sue those fuckers for abuse & it shocks me that no animal organizations have ever done anything about it I suppose just cuz they are very tiny fish. Fucking walmart if you dont freaking have time & regulate your animals on sell dont freaking sell them!

After all your not a petshop & I bet none is going to mind if you stop selling them since none buys your poor sick fishes unless one little brat feels like getting a new "pet" which will mostly die in less than a week after they forget about it which either way is awful for the poor fucking fish; So shame on the breeders who sell to Walmart aswell.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Once, I went to wal-mart and I saw a fish eating another dead fish. I almost threw up.

[–]Venomjoker5339 2 points3 points ago

Support her up-vote this to take down Walmart, just like how Walmart destroyed a small town in Colorado called south park we have to destroy Walmart or just steal from Walmart hahaha easier to do.

[–]Marleyfan 1 point2 points ago

Screw Walmart, that's why I shop at upscale stores like Kmart.

Go Kmart, go Kmart, it's your birthday...

[–]MrsMusicMan 13 points14 points ago

Totally understand. As a nurse I was concerned when one of their employees didn't wash her hands after using the rest room. When I complained they poo-pooed it.

[–]abnerjames 4 points5 points ago

I've seen nurses refuse to bother to wash their hands when working in the leukemia ward, and such activity caused my dying brother to get another infection- including the one that eventually killed him. The world is full of lazy losers who ruin it for others.

[–]VirtualAnarchy 3 points4 points ago

I don't like going from happy to sad in 2 sentences.

[–]Damaband41 0 points1 point ago

[–]AgentGinger149 2 points3 points ago

If you're going to post that every day, you might want to fix some of those grammatical mistakes.

[–]kingmufasa 2 points3 points ago

THIS IS WHY I DON'T SHOP AT WAL-MART! When you take things back don't they usually give you your money back? My dad took a pair of WAL-MART BRAND JEANS back to our local Wal-Mart, WITH A RECIEPT, and would not take them back! My dad wore them ONCE and they ripped right up the ass. Pissed, my mother called the Wal-Mart hotline, they called us back and did not give two shits that they wouldn't give us OUR money back for THEIR damaged jeans. Frequent customers of Wal-Mart we took our business to the Dollar General right down the road that not only is smaller and less stressful, but better prices.. and basically like a mini Wal-Mart. FUCK YOU WAL-MART!

[–]pogiface 2 points3 points ago

Person that stole the phone was probably friends with the manager. They are underpaid and don't care

[–]thebedshow 2 points3 points ago

Talk to the police not a fucking Walmart manager.

[–]stayclassyfolks 2 points3 points ago

....How many of you repeatedly hit the top left back button like you were actually on Facebook. I'm dumb

[–]courtFTW 1 point2 points ago

I'm so glad that this lady got her phone back! I had my phone stolen from Sam's Club (not an employee) and I used the Find my iPhone app on my iPad to track my phone to the bastard's house and brought the cops with me. You better believe that dude was shocked! Best 4th of July EVER.

[–]dr3dg 2 points3 points ago

Nice try target.

[–]TurkingAndLurking 2 points3 points ago

If you ever worked in retail you'd realise how common is for people to lose their phones/other stuff or even just simply leave it at car/home, and accusse the employees of any estabilishment they were visiting when realising they lost or forgot something.

And God forbid you're a black guy working in retail. Its like being a Muslim guy at the airpoirt after 9/11.

[–]Samurai_light 1 point2 points ago

Barring my own bad experiences with them, they are the largest employer in the world. They are bound to have a lot of good AND bad people.

And unfortunately, you cannot blame the whole company or even one particular store for a bad manager. When I worked night shift at Kroger, the night manager was awful. He also had his little clique of underlings that he hung out with. They would take extra long breaks, plus extra smoke breaks, and only help each other out in finishing their work, and leave early, even if other people were still working.

One member of our department was his right-hand lackey though and got away with everything from sexual harassment (all the females quit or transferred to day shift) from throwing a utility knife at another employee. (All caught on camera of course) There was so much crap that took place it would take forever to retell it all.

But the night manager did everything to protect the guy. "I was there right beside him and he was just playing. She is exaggerating" or "The knife just slipped. He never meant to throw it. I saw everything with my own eyes." It was a nightmare. But that store had one of the best store managers and grocery managers there ever was. Truly cared about the employees and worked with them in everything from sickness to college to family problems.

Long story short, all it takes is a few bad apples to give the store a bad reputation, but don't judge a whole book by its cover.

[–]Alpharmonic 7 points8 points ago

Interesting, but ineffective. Does she have concrete proof? If not, sorry, she's kind of fucked.

[–]masshole4life 2 points3 points ago

Shoulda got dna.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points ago

well she tracked the phone to an employees house...id say thats pretty fucking concrete?

[–]herpy-derp[S] 3 points4 points ago

She got her phone back, she just wants an apology of some sort.

[–]Alpharmonic 10 points11 points ago

Does she want justice or an apology?

[–]useryourname 6 points7 points ago

Justice must be served indiscriminately.

[–]orthag 5 points6 points ago

Here, take this hammer, go into walmart and start swinging at everything blue.

[–]VirtualAnarchy 6 points7 points ago

indiscriminately

[–]Alpharmonic 1 point2 points ago

Okay Ra's.

[–]PaintyFilms 3 points4 points ago

Ok, let's try this again.

Does she have concrete proof?

[–]xyroclast 2 points3 points ago

Some explaining to do about what?

Hearsay?

The actions of one manager?

How is this the fault of Wal Mart as a corporation?

[–]enharet 8 points9 points ago

Thank you. Walmart has 2.2 million employees, many of whom work part time for just over minimum wage and are there because they can't find a better job. Is anyone really that shocked that one of those 2.2 million employees was an a-hole and stole an unattended iphone, and another was stuck between a rock and a hard place (that manager couldn't do much to that employee even if she wanted to just based of one customers word about something that happened in a bathroom where there are no cameras)?

[–]RoflCopter4 1 point2 points ago

I fucking hate this attitude so much. Customers are so quick to blame whomever they see for whatever problem that employee had NOTHING to do with. I am so sick of this entitled bullshit.

[–]peterpanman 3 points4 points ago

Fuck Walmart.

[–]RaeRee 4 points5 points ago

I love that people are still shocked by how horrible of a company Wal-Mart is. Really? Where the hell have you been? That place is pure evil.

[–]turkeys 3 points4 points ago

A friend of mine was getting groceries at Walmart. They shopped for about an hour, paid the couple hundred dollar bill, and went out to the car. Loading groceries in the car, they realized they'd forgotten to get something important, like toilet paper. They go back in, and end up getting more groceries and spending another $50 or so. Back out at the car now, a Walmart security representative stops them, and accuses them of stealing. Oops, yes, they had somehow managed to forget to pay for a bag of snacks they'd picked up and started eating while shopping during the first round. He apologized and of course started to make a move to go back in to pay. Instead, he was detained, ultimately arrested, spend a few days in jail for shoplifting, and was fined several hundred dollars.

Walmart is fucked up and I refuse to shop there.

[–]major_lugo 1 point2 points ago

So...your friend stole and went to jail. And somehow thats wrong?

[–]The_Most_Honest 3 points4 points ago

On her facebook page today she said Walmart finally blocked her from posting on their page. I'm definitely going to make a trip to their facebook page today.

[–]Dr_Packenwood -1 points0 points ago

I think I can explain the whole thing.

[–]castleclouds -1 points0 points ago

The way this was written was very confusing to me

[–]cdjcon 0 points1 point ago

I'd say "help yourself to what ever you can carry out."

[–]kaozennrk 1 point2 points ago

People. You have the power. Stop shopping at the damn Walmart!! I have no respect for walmarters.

[–]AngryCod 0 points1 point ago

Shouldn't this have been posted to consumerist.com?

[–]GrammerPants 0 points1 point ago

Actually they likely wouldn't call the cops if she was stealing from them, most major business don't bother with that anymore. They just scare you, possible ban you from the store and so on.

[–]alphaqwright 0 points1 point ago

Walmart doesn't care. I knew an employee that stocked and eventually went into their "security" program that regularly stole items and is now in jail for 3rd time heroin offense. In fairness tho, I also know several good people that are employed by Walmart too.

[–]Influx07 -1 points0 points ago

Consumerist would jump all over this.

Don't let this be what you base all of your walmart opinions on. People all judge Walmart on a few isolated incidences like this. It's that particular store not the whole corporation.

Should have taken that up with a district or market manager, most stores have their contact information posted along with the store manager's (be sure you're seeing a store manager about problems first and not a shift manager).

Walmart has been very good to my family and hometown, I hate seeing the entire company get ridiculed for a few people doing stupid shit like this.

As a Louisvillian who has been to this particular one several times I can confirm that this type of customer service is the status quo. I take my business to more respectable places like K-Mart.

Work Target AP. Employee stole a wallet from a guest. As soon as we got all the info for the police, we terminated her.

Summoning the power of the internet. One of the most powerful and devastating moves someone can make to a large corporation that fucks people over.

Good to see how things are still going down in my home town! To think I even sometimes wonder why I left...

Even if she is a thief the reason she has her job is because she doesn't unionize, good employee!

Wal-Mart won't care, not their property not their money. One, part-time employee's actions does not represent the company. If you truly had any idea how often people come to Wal-Mart with frivolous claims and law-suits you'd understand the lack of empathy on the part of the management. It's fortunate you got your phone back but be more careful in public next time around.

I have the same last name!

[–]Gunner3210 -1 points0 points ago

Why didn't she call the cops when her phone was stolen?

[–]bluepinklady -1 points0 points ago

Wow. ONE employee of Walmart stole your iPhone and then the Walmart employees are disrespectful thieves. There's around 90 000 Walmart employees. It's very much possible that at least one of them is a stealer.

[–]sceptic_ali 0 points1 point ago

after i related your story my ten year old, wise beyond her years, niece suggested we [my entire family and however many friends i can persuade] boycott walmart until the store's management not only apologizes to you, but also takes appropriate action against said employee. ps - so it doesn't turn into a virtual lynch mob, please provide some proof that events transpired as you claim.

[–]draben 1 point2 points ago

Who follows Walmart on Facebook?

[–]CoffeeSipper 1 point2 points ago

Where do you think Walmart gets their merchandise from? The next time you're in their bathroom make sure you leave with both shoes still on.

[–]Gummy4 1 point2 points ago

I live in Louisville, KY and I think I know where that wal-mart is. This is awkward.

[–]techiejames 1 point2 points ago

Have you filled a complaint with the police about the employee's theft? Walmart may think something like that is big.

[–]PrimalDirective 0 points1 point ago

Relevant last name

[–]dirtywood 0 points1 point ago

I hope this really hurts Walmart. But it wont.

[–]senecaa2015 0 points1 point ago

[–]8B8D8B 0 points1 point ago

Burn 'em all to the ground! Long live little business!

[–]eatcrayons 0 points1 point ago

Yes, the first thing is how this deserves to be in WTF, especially because it breaks the first fucking rule. The second thing that needs explaining is the other side of the story.

[–]TitaniumFlourine 1 point2 points ago

OT, but did anyone else try to click the back button on the image? Hit that bitch 3 times before I realized I was getting nowhere.

As a ZMS a (Zone manager Supervisor) That is likea 1-in 100,000,000 happening or at least in my district anyway. Regardless as to where the issue was resolved if the event began, in a walmart store involving an on the clock associate. Is grounds for termination. Especially theft. I hate working for them because we get such an overall bad rep. I am very sorry that happened with you. If you would like I could find out who you Market (District) Asset Protection Manager is and see if that could further resolve the issue.
