Jersey Shore was canceled. Yes, but the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo abomination has taken its place and scored better ratings than Romney's speech at the GOP convention.

If there were a God it has a sick sense of humor.

[–]SykoKiller666 4 points5 points ago

Challenging the hivemind, but Honey Boo Boo wasn't all that bad entertainment wise. I only saw one episode, but it was not inanely retarded like Jersey Shore was.

[–]honest_arbiter 2 points3 points ago

Honey Boo Boo is great - it's like a live action version of the version of the Simpson's. The family is crude, crass and obnoxious (but funny!), but they genuinely care about each other and they have a pretty good outlook on life: they enjoy their life and don't give a shit what other people think.

Yes, I think toddler pageants are horrible, and I thought this show was going to be about evil "momager" type parents and show people trying to one up themselves when it comes to selfishness and bitchiness, but it's not like that at all. I think most of the people knocking Honey Boo Boo haven't actually seen an episode.

[–]MarriedToReddit 1 point2 points ago

Exactly. On a kind- of related note, one of the lines the little girl said cracked me up: "I hope Mama doesn't eat Glitzy [their pig] 'cause she eats everything else."

[–]scaredofmoths 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I thought I'd be sickened and wish social services upon them but they seem to have fun and seem pretty close. I actually wish I had as much fun as they seem to be having! Of course, their child-rearing methods leave much to be desired but nobody said it was supernanny!

[–]UncleTogie 0 points1 point ago

You must not be watching, then.

Those pageants are fraggin' abominations.

[–]SykoKiller666 1 point2 points ago

That's the point. Which is the key factor to it's entertainment. Watching the upbrinings of kids who go into shows like Toddlers and Tiaras is much more interesting than a bunch of drunk party whores and meat heads.

[–]ingenious_gentleman 6 points7 points ago

To be fair, Romney's speech was not particularly intelligent. He spent most of the speech bashing Obama, rather than being insightful or praising his own platform.

[–]Teal_skies 6 points7 points ago

"Obama makes false promises" shortly followed by "I'm going to make 12 million jobs"

I'm not going to invoke Godwin's law on this (you know who else revived their country's economy? HITLER!) but come on. How are you going to make that many jobs? Magic? Forcibly convert everyone to mormonism? Kill all the Chinese, claim it as American soil and send half the country to work the factories there?

[–]kazetenshu 0 points1 point ago

Magic? Sorry, just came out of the magic underwear post.

[–]JakeKindaBaked 0 points1 point ago

Baseline job growth over the next four years is already 12 million under Obama, so he's pretty much saying at the very best he could do what we're already doing.

[–]Teal_skies 0 points1 point ago

"Obama did a terrible job. I'm going to do just as well as he did"

Wonderful, I'm hearing alarm bells already.

[–]ShadowAssassinQueef 1 point2 points ago

And talking about his Shity personal life...

[–]Targaryen13 2 points3 points ago

What's wrong with that, you can look at him and tell he's had a hard...aww, what the fuck he's never had a hard day in his life.

[–]Teal_skies 9 points10 points ago

"One time my credit card was rejected, so I couldn't have edible gold leaf on my caviar sundae."

[–]mothar 0 points1 point ago

[–]halfhartedgrammarguy 0 points1 point ago

Shity, pronounced shy-tee

[–]Mileskitsune 0 points1 point ago

exactly. every time he opens his mouth its just mud-slinging. all his supporters go on and on about how he will "fix" the country and how he "built" his success (rofl) but I've yet to hear an actual plan. why don't politicians say "here is my plan, I will do this and this and this to get this result" and then we vote on the plan we think will succeed.

[–]Saedeas 1 point2 points ago

On that note, I played a drinking game with Romney's speech. Sips every time he bashed Obama (along with a bevy of other rules). Regardless, the tally at the end was like 23 marks of Obama bashing >.>. I got absurdly drunk.

[–]pundemic 0 points1 point ago

What the fuck did I just watch?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

You forget the GOP convention's ratings were divided by multiple networks airing it

[–]StreetSpirit127 38 points39 points ago

No loving god would have ever allowed that show on the airwaves to begin with.

[–]mOdQuArK 9 points10 points ago

You know what a scary variation of theism would be, and one which would be much harder to argue against? There is a God, but he is not loving.

[–]sagard 19 points20 points ago

Let me introduce you to the Old Testament

[–]Targaryen13 8 points9 points ago

No shit. Christians never bring much of that up.

[–]SpaceMonkeysInSpace 2 points3 points ago

I remember reading some creepy pasta where the predominate religion is that there was a god, but he died. That would be interesting.

[–]I_AMA_God_AMA 1 point2 points ago

source anyone?

[–]SpaceMonkeysInSpace 2 points3 points ago

[–]I_AMA_God_AMA 1 point2 points ago

Thank you, my child.

[–]xCombatEvolving 0 points1 point ago

That isn't the whole story.

[–]MutantEnemy04 1 point2 points ago

Clearly you've learned from Ray's mistake.

[–]I_AMA_God_AMA 0 points1 point ago

What?

[–]MutantEnemy04 0 points1 point ago

"Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say YES!" Sorry, your username sparked that reaction. Please don't smite me : (

[–]IAmA_god_AMA 0 points1 point ago

Hey! He's a phony!

[–]Tewqin 0 points1 point ago

This has the same idea.

[–]cjmook21 20 points21 points ago

It made it through 6 seasons. That's like saying god exists and has infinite wisdom and infinite power because a pedo rapist got hit by a car and died after he only raped 12 kids.

[–]sincosboy 10 points11 points ago

Sadly, that's actually how a lot of theists function.

A tragedy, e.g. the Colorado shooting, happens and one of their relatives or friends makes it out, and the Lord is good.

[–]myknucklemadeusleep -3 points-2 points ago

Can I leave you face down kissing the ground at your local bar tonight? Then you can say an atheist knocked you out in a violent manner. Of course, we atheists don't condone violence on our own but for you I would make an exception.

[–]Seth7777 3 points4 points ago

Wait... What?

[–]onthefence928 0 points1 point ago

Comparing jersey shore to a child rapist is insulting to child rapists everywhere

[–]Thadyr 1 point2 points ago

It's cancellation is a prime example of natural selection.

[–]JSA17 2 points3 points ago

It's also you playing nice. I wish we would see more posts like this, two friends who don't really give a shit about the others religious beliefs.

[–]igor_mortis 0 points1 point ago

that would basically require the supposed believer to not give a shit about his beliefs.

[–]JSA17 1 point2 points ago

I see what you mean, but not necessarily. I have friends of all beliefs, but their beliefs are just that, theirs. I liked this because it was just two friends, no religion doesn't need to affect their friendship. Played well by both.

[–]Bestwick 0 points1 point ago

Yahweh be praised!

[–]grumblesatlife 0 points1 point ago

Tower of Siloam = sometimes things happen without divine intervention.

[–]7ate9 0 points1 point ago

Now we'll have apologetics courses on the Problem of TJS...

[–]Fudgemanners 0 points1 point ago

see? anybody can be a decent person.

[–]Jayedw3 1 point2 points ago

Kudos on waiting 10 hours for potential additional replies before posting.

[–]baumer6 -1 points0 points ago

Can someone explain to me what is funny/interesting/breakthrough/dramatic about this?

[–]Miss_Bee 0 points1 point ago

I had this same conversation with someone on fb yesterday.

[–]Grinstall 0 points1 point ago

I think Jersey Shore disproves intelligent design.

[–]pseudocinema 0 points1 point ago

The lord giveth and the lord taketh away.

Not actually my opinion, just wanted to be the first one to make the reference.

[–]igor_mortis -1 points0 points ago

that was a light-hearted, humorous exchange. really sweet to watch.

but in a way the theist is making fun of sacred things in his beliefs.

technically, he also mentioned god's name in vain, thus breaking a commandment (1st?).

i'm pretty sure a considerable number of christians will not like this and find it offensive.

you may argue that those people are "fundies", but i think they would simply be following the "rules" of their religion properly. they are the true believers. you cannot have a moderate amount of faith. you cannot be religious and secular at the same time. that's superficial belief. maybe i'm just being pedantic, but i see it as an inconsistency.

[–]loganparker420 0 points1 point ago

Was it not an act of God to punish us with the show for 6 seasons? Again Christians only acknowledge the good things that they believe God does.

Just in case you haven't realized by now. I'm joking. Don't take this post seriously.

[–]owlsrule143 0 points1 point ago

Think of this, a guy holds up a bank, and ties everyone up, and then a few minutes later is the hero and calls the police and unties everyone. All just for fun. Think about it, that definitely sounds like the Christian god

[–]Top127 0 points1 point ago

Best part of that post is the one person that's obviously disappointed by the idea of it being cancelled. "How you know?"

[–]looseygoosey45 -1 points0 points ago

Hey now come now atheist. Stop using round about logic such as if god existed then why does he let bad things happen, god doesn't save people science does! True atheism believes that people should help people because of the lack of GOD and we are our only hope. If you are going to believe something believe the whole thing, also if you know anything about christianity then you would know after Jesus died and rose the old testament is null and void as a contract and as an example to view all Christians whenever an atheist pulls some new testament scripture out to discuss and not yell BS then that is when you will find a non hypocritical christian who is on a high level of thinking and reasoning and with the ability to question things such as yourselves

Friendly neighborhood christian who values all view points save for the circle jerk this has become

[–]hiCarlo 0 points1 point ago

Being the atheist I am, this just brings tears to my eyes.

[–]XylemTube 0 points1 point ago

But, but...canceled only has one 'L'.

[–]ingenious_gentleman 1 point2 points ago

Most dictionaries say both ways are right.

[–]XylemTube 0 points1 point ago

Damn. It always has a red underline when I try to use two L's =(

[–]Jibs117 -2 points-1 points ago

Theist? Scratches head

[–]evolsteve 2 points3 points ago

What are you confused about?

[–]Targaryen13 2 points3 points ago

Trying to sound it out, give him a minute

[–]Jibs117 0 points1 point ago

nothing anymore. Google the answer to all life's silly questions.
