Upvotes for actually making me giggle. Also, you stole my cat and AC and I would like both of them back.

I always talk to them, get into some nice debates sometimes, mostly because I'm too polite to just shut the door on them.

One time they came around during rain, two teenaged guys... My bf being good samaritan man, invited them in out of the rain. We offered them some fresh bread and milk... They sat there stunned for about ten minutes before going out. Never said anything about religion, never came back again.
I think we scared them.

Was one as a child. This is pretty spot on... if they come to the door.

same deal here, my dad is an elder and my mother is a full time pioneer. All my siblings are disfellowshipped of course

[–]punk_rock_princess 2 points3 points ago

I am so sorry.

At my (former) hall, if you were an elder and one of your children was disfellowshipped, you were removed as an elder. They felt that if you couldn't guide your own family, how are you supposed to guide a whole congregation? It makes sense, really

[–]Zak_Kapua 1 point2 points ago

I don't think it makes sense. If your children decide to live outside the statutes of your families belief system the family head should have no ramifications.

And usually you're praying they don't. My parents have always been Jehovah's witnesses. I was finally allowed to leave at age 17.

i always read Jehovah's witness as Jenova's witness, and the picture is never as awesome as it is in my mind.

I am friends with all ex JW's and they all say that too. My best friend moved at age 16 and did not tell anyone she was JW, then had to do the door to door, and everyone found out rather quickly. She stopped going to the Hall like a month later.

I had one of them in my apartment a few years back. He was a university worker that I had called to repair my heater. He managed to fix the heater in about ten minutes, and spent the next two hours trying to convert me and my wife.

TL;DR Jehovah's Witnesses are like vampires; never invite them in.
