I bought these books for $1300 and I was looking for some extra money. Sorry, best I can do is a university sticker and a bag of skittles.

Repost, but valuable public service announcement. I'll allow it.

What sucks is I get this EOP&S book grant for $225 for books, if I look hard I can find all my books for with that, but I am forced to buy at the bookstore, which gets me 1 or 2 books>.>

Are the words college and university used interchangeably in the States?

Granted the Bookstores at Universities are always the top retail price...but it isn't necessarily them to blame. The books are listed with a suggested retail.
The publishers are part of the problem. They command these high prices for the books and effectively set the retail prices. Obviously a bookstore is going to have more overhead than an Amazon seller, so you may be able to save some money online.
One of the biggest problems is with professors. In many situations the professors are approached by the publishers or authors of certain books and given "incentives" to utilize a new edition every year. They change it around enough to make prior year texts unusable for many tasks. I had a professor in college who didn't buy into this mentality. He said we could purchase the new book if we wanted or any of the prior 2 versions, and he gave us page numbers and assignments from 3 different editions of the book.

My college bookstore actually launched a new website this year that shows their price of the book alongside process on the internet like Amazon and Half. It's pretty awesome and saved me a bunch of time.

Sure did. Then laughed... Mid laugh I stopped and realized that I JUST paid for my books out of pocket... No student loan to assist... FUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!

Amazon.com.
I had my classes picked months in advance, so I've had my books for a couple of weeks. Saved me so much money, and no mad dash to the bookstore come the first day of class.
