Is that door made of cardboard?

[–]everynameisFingtaken 540 points541 points ago

nah, he's just really mad.

[–]iamjamin 449 points450 points ago

Mad > door

[–]OleDaneBoy 261 points262 points ago

[–]Anomonis 101 points102 points ago

Many interior doors are made of Particle Board/Composite Filler, marketed as Hollow-Core Slab Doors. So Yes it is essentially compressed cardboard.

[–]baddadyeahthatsme 143 points144 points ago

Door Nerd Alert!

[–]ObligatoryResponse 85 points86 points ago

It's an inside door, so... basically. Only outside doors are normally solid.

[–]Seruz 58 points59 points ago

That does not apply where i live, i think elephantx is right - it's probably shoddy quality cause it's in a studio

[–]ObligatoryResponse 49 points50 points ago

The way it broke looks almost the same as any hollow-core door I've ever broken. Cardboard would have more tearing, as it's paper. This properly snapped, as it's very thin particle board.

[–]Seyloren 26 points27 points ago

There is currently a hole through my bathroom door where I discovered my fist can easily puncture the flimsy layers of particle board when supported by emotional rage.

TL;DR I can watch you poop.

[–]grandtheftbitches 10 points11 points ago

I don't always break doors, but when I do... Fuck it, I always break doors.

[–]SolomonGrumpy 5 points6 points ago

only in cheap buildings.

[–]ObligatoryResponse 34 points35 points ago

I'd venture to say over 70% of all homes built after the 1970s in america.

[–]olie25 97 points98 points ago

No the door said "yolo" so it deserved what it got.

[–]fdfsdfsefdfsdfse 19 points20 points ago

[–]thenumberZED 18 points19 points ago

the spin move putting the door back on the hinges is incredible haha

[–]Wworkin 24 points25 points ago

Guess i now know where the phrase "Im so mad i could build a door!" Comes from

[–]thatssorelevant 15 points16 points ago

That man is really handy with his feet!

[–]anal_blazers 127 points128 points ago

The Ultimate Fighter - they put up incredibly thin doors because coaches like to have temper tantrums and destroy them to get good ratings and even better gifs.

If that door was to code he would have broken hands/feet

[–]edman007 150 points151 points ago

Code? Its an interior door and not a fire barrier, what code would prevent a door like that? Homes very often have almost cardboard thin wood doors like that, almost anyone can kick them in, though punching them will probably get you splinters. They probably use heavy cardboard because its safer.

[–]zaktom323 55 points56 points ago

As someone who works in a lumber yard over the summer, this is very true. Most interior doors are very easily broken unless they are solid core.

[–]acidbath2012 85 points86 points ago

As someone who makes glory holes i can also confirm this.

[–]typical_me 30 points31 points ago

Homes are not the same as public buildings.

In most countries you simply NEED fire doors in a room that links the area to the rest of the building/hallways, and in any part of the building with no other exit/windows. I don't know about America but in the uk the inspectors can fine you thousands, a fire would rip through that door in seconds.

[–]parrotsnest 57 points58 points ago

Doors made of fire sounds like a fire hazard to me.

[–]frenzyboard 13 points14 points ago

I'm 6'2" and 230 pounds. I'm not fat, but I have the weak baby arms of a video game master. I'm not a master of video games, though. I'm just weak and pathetic, is what I'm trying to get at.

Anyway. I got mad once, and I punched a door like that. I put a sizable dent in it, and I bruised my knuckles. I really wouldn't be surprised if someone who is paid to hit other people (y'know, for entertainment purposes) was able to punch through an interior door and rip it from it's hinges. It didn't feel like a very sturdy door to me.

[–]Lurking_Grue 6 points7 points ago

Would be awesome if they replaced the door with a more sturdy sold door and not mention it.

[–]Kieran676 8 points9 points ago

Lmao where is that gif from?

[–]Kuskesmed 28 points29 points ago

The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV. That is Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson.

[–]massaikosis 32 points33 points ago

I wonder how he got that nickname... could it be that old arcade game? (aka best videogame ever)

[–]Bondidude 350 points351 points ago

They just replaced it with spin offs. Why have the flagship show competing with the spin offs? It's like a hydra, you cut off one head and 2 more pop up.

[–]Dadatina 95 points96 points ago

Also, there's still one more season.

[–]colonel_mortimer 118 points119 points ago

And let's not forget the show after the show where they talk about all the shit you just watched on the show.

[–]carpeDeezNuts 23 points24 points ago

Hmm..we shall call it, the "after show"...brilliant!

[–]bfogarty27 38 points39 points ago

Not to mention people were celebrating on here a few months ago and everyone pointed out the spin offs. why the hell is this on the front page

[–]TropicalDenial 65 points66 points ago

[–]junkit33 187 points188 points ago

It's more about the strange obsession Reddit gets with stuff like this.

I know about Jersey Shore because you have to be living under a rock to not have seen a billion references to it over the last couple of years. I even watched an episode to see what the hell it was about. I didn't really get it, but I recognize that a lot of people enjoy it for reasons I don't understand, and that's fine. I'm about as ambivalent as it gets towards Jersey Shore.

And that's how most people normally treat the things they don't care about.

On Reddit though, there is this pent-up animosity towards the things they don't like... as if MTV is going to put some kind of awesome show on in its place or something that they are missing out on... Newsflash - when a show like this goes away, they simply replace it with another show geared towards the exact same audience. It doesn't matter.

[–]filipino4life 64 points65 points ago

Get your reasonableness out of here. Our minds are to busy being a hive

[–]sgtpppr 2 points3 points ago

The first rule of reddit is that you can only like what I like. The second rule of reddit is that all personal problems are caused by the things I don't like. The third rule is if you life what I don't like, then you are the cause of all my personal problems and my sworn enemy.

[–]evil_twin 219 points220 points ago

most normal people don't know about stuff they don't like, reddit seems to be a place where they are obsessed with things they don't like. I think that's what he's trying to point out.

[–]jonosvision 165 points166 points ago

Like YOLO

Never heard of it before reddit started making fun of it.

[–]inevitable_deletion 112 points113 points ago

Me neither, but then I started saying it all the time, because YOLO.

[–]endercoaster 80 points81 points ago

Remember to buckle your seatbelt. YOLO.

[–]buster_casey 28 points29 points ago

Don't smoke or drink and drive. YOLO.

[–]DuneBug 24 points25 points ago

serious question... do people actually say "yo-lo" or do they say "you only live once".

I been saying "you only live once" for the last 10 years whenever I needed to stop being S.A.P. playing computer games and go out. Now I'm afraid i might've been a huge douche this whole time.

[–]Sureiyaa 21 points22 points ago

They really say "Yo-lo". You're not around a high school enough.

[–]jonosvision 12 points13 points ago

Huh, you know I have no idea. I've never actually 'heard' it just seen it. Anyone?

[–]Jorion 9 points10 points ago

I heard it for the first time about a week ago. They did say "yo-lo." I just stood and stared.

[–]KeyboardKidd 15 points16 points ago

People actually pronounce it "yo-lo" like it is pronounced in the song it originated popularized from.

[–]Scrooge_McDuck90 7 points8 points ago

Me too, Never heard YOLO in real life, Never met a fundie christian, Never met an Apple Hipster.

[–]BroadStreet_Bully 6 points7 points ago

I never knew Snooki was pregnant until reddit told me.

[–]o0DrWurm0o 3 points4 points ago

I've heard someone say it once. I was taking a final at the end of Spring quarter (when many are graduating) and all of a sudden somebody yelled YOLO outside (presumably after finishing the last final of their life). Everybody laughed.

[–]grinr 112 points113 points ago

[–]Muddie 50 points51 points ago

The worst part about this whole Honey Boo Boo business is it's on something called The Learning Channel.

[–]Thop 34 points35 points ago

I feel TLC still strives to educate their viewers. Just in a "don't live your life like these people" kind of way.

[–]themysterycow 67 points68 points ago

It's on a network called TLC, which at one time stood for the Learning Channel. They haven't actively branded themselves that way since the late nineties, and nowhere in their branding do they emphasize the former connection.

I get that the channel's content is a far cry from its origins, but this is a tired criticism. Their programming has been niche- and reality-oriented for more than a decade now.

[–]scaia 56 points57 points ago

I guess pretty soon, The History Channel is just going to be "H"

[–]rankun 53 points54 points ago

Oh god, this will be great, the history channel will be named THC...

[–]Beelzebud 3 points4 points ago

Depends who you are, I guess. I saw about 30 seconds of it, and that was more than enough for me.

[–]butthurttheprequel 228 points229 points ago

You know, if you don't take the show seriously, it's pretty funny.

But all you guys jump on the wagon to hate it. Yeah, it's shitty t.v. and they are all fucking morons, but it's funny.

The show is so stupid it's hilarious, you gotta watch it like a nature show or something. Watching these foreign creatures in their natural habitat.

[–]phiber232 109 points110 points ago

Those "morons" are laughing all the way to the bank as well. Smartest people in the room if you ask me.

[–]OGMrWhite23 16 points17 points ago

For real. Look at Pauly D, he's actually a good guy and made it huge in the music industry.

[–]richard_photograph 12 points13 points ago

i was suprised to find out that he in fact is a very nice respectful guy. his pals are not. i had them come into the barber shop i frequent while my son was getting a trim and he was the only one who i didnt have to ask watch their mouth and he didnt act like a complete ass like the others.

[–]OGMrWhite23 1 point2 points ago

That's a cool story. It's tough to make judgments about people without having ever met them, good or bad, but Pauly just seems like a good dude. He played up the whole guido thing on the show but was always real respectful to most girls, was real family oriented, and even after hitting it huge and getting signed to G unit never became a cocky better than you type dude. He has my respect for sure.

[–]giraffricanamerican 9 points10 points ago

That's because he's from Rhode Island and all the other people are from New York. Kind of speaks for itself.

[–]Gorillaz2189 7 points8 points ago

because of the show, not because he's good.

[–]oananbr 17 points18 points ago

It takes a genius to make money off of your own stupidity.

[–]only_one_name 34 points35 points ago

And I haven't met a person who watches Jersey Shore who takes it seriously. They treat it like a sitcom about drunken idiots.

[–]hankhill_propane 23 points24 points ago

lol thats totally how i view it and i love it.

[–]Relish11 10 points11 points ago

I personally love the show.

[–]devon223 48 points49 points ago

I don't get why people who don't watch the show care if it's on or not.

[–]ITS_DANGERNOVA_BITCH 11 points12 points ago

I don't know if you guys know about this, but there's this cool method of dealing with television programs you dislike, wherein you don't fucking watch them. I've implemented this strategy the last few years, and subsequently hadn't been aware that Jersey Shore was still on. It's not that I've believed it to be cancelled this whole time, I just haven't given a fuck either way.

Works terrifically.

[–]DSTFU 33 points34 points ago

I honestly don't even know why people care. Just don't watch MTV.

[–]Workhorse9 563 points564 points ago

I've never seen such haters who are so preoccupied on what other people watch and enjoy.

[–]The_Adventurist 113 points114 points ago

But that's the entire point of the show. The show is designed to make you hate the people on it. It's how MTV does all its reality tv programming.

Sweet Sixteen was practically an Al Qaeda recruitment video.

I'm a commercial editor, and just from the editing of those shows, it's clear the message is, "look at this fucking piece of shit person. You're definitely better than they are. I mean, LOOK at them. How the fuck are they still alive and not dead in a fucking gutter having drowned on their own booze vomit? You're at least... twice as smart as this village bicycle. Tune in next week for more hate-fuelled self-affirmations."

[–]Only_A_Username 264 points265 points ago

You haven't been on Reddit very long, have you?

[–]ngmcs8203 9 points10 points ago

3 days...

[–]Bsbear 43 points44 points ago

Loser, you go on reddit. Such a hipster.

[–]Only_A_Username 49 points50 points ago

I listen to Lady Gaga, I can't be a hipster.

[–]Spooooooooooooon 45 points46 points ago

You're a monster!

[–]cannabist 59 points60 points ago

Yeah, honestly it's fucking sad. We are witnessing the ego of several redditors convincing themselves how smart they are. These are the same morons that think rehashed memes are hilarious.

[–]memeofconsciousness 94 points95 points ago

So wait a second here... It's wrong for redditors to be annoyed by people enjoying The Jersey Shore.

But it's ok for you to be annoyed by redditors who think rehashed memes are hilarious?

[–]RabidWalrus 69 points70 points ago

ouch, right in the hypocrisy

[–]Mister_Donut 35 points36 points ago

Why would you care? Was someone forcing you to watch it?

[–]cmseagle 45 points46 points ago

ITT: "STOP LIKING THINGS THAT I DON'T LIKE!"

[–]Old-Hickory 77 points78 points ago

[–]artisticchipmunk 105 points106 points ago

[–]xixtoo 2 points3 points ago

Quaid.... Start the reactor. Free Mars...

[–]StewieBanana 2 points3 points ago

Yay! I'll still be able to not watch a show on a channel I never turn to.

[–]Arrel 13 points14 points ago

They're probably waiting for the other cast members' kids to be born, so they can launch their new spin-off "Jersey Shore Kids."

[–]Aqueously90 65 points66 points ago

Nooooo, I need my stories! I'm not too ashamed to say that I watch it, those idiots are hilarious.

[–]private_pants 17 points18 points ago

I am in your camp! It is not thought provoking, stimulating tv, but I do enjoy watching them. It is entertaining, and thats pretty much what I want from my entertainment!

[–]esparza74 12 points13 points ago

Now cancel MTV.

[–]mudmaster 4 points5 points ago

They probably cancelled it so they could focus on creating a spin-off for each individual character. We've won the battle, but probably lost the war.

[–]Chilly73 4 points5 points ago

This may date me, but I remember when MTV was about....music. Talking to artists, showing videos, all of that good stuff. Now, it's more about the lowest common denominator, show-wise.

[–]cupcakegiraffe 1 point2 points ago

I'd be more excited if they were all just snubbed and everybody ignored their existence (yes, cancelling all their other shows, television appearances, and invitations to big events). We don't need people like that as "role models" for our children and we could also benefit from the lack of stupidity they display every moment they are in front of the cameras.

[–]Szos 2 points3 points ago

I would like to point out that just because JS might be cancelled, doesn't mean now that they will start airing educational or more high-brow shows like NOVA, or even - god forbid - play some music.

They just replace JS with something even more pathetic.... after all, TLC threw down the gauntlet with Honey Boo Boo, MTV has got to find something that's even more low-brow to counter.

[–]BurroBorracho 28 points29 points ago

Either a good sign or something worse in the making

[–]greensy 58 points59 points ago

I'm not proud of this prediction, but I'm almost sure Snooki is going to end up getting some reality show based around raising her crotchfruit.

[–]nathanws 31 points32 points ago

+1 for crotchfruit

[–]achinator 22 points23 points ago

crotchfruit++

[–]CowSarlacc 6 points7 points ago

I am sorry that I have to be the bearer of bad news, but it already exists. Snooki and JWoww. I watched an episode with my friends once. It was quite possibly even worse than Jersey Shore.

[–]Freecandyhere 11 points12 points ago

Snooki's show: Tan mom

[–]sullipilot[S] 75 points76 points ago

Maybe they're bringing back 24 hrs of music videos a day instead of the good quality program they have now!

[–]jamesf797 65 points66 points ago

Ha. Ha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Oh god stop... you're too funny.

[–]I_Key_Cars 5 points6 points ago

You must be old like me if you remember those days.

[–]isthisreallyreal 9 points10 points ago

24 hours of shit is what you'd get, so I don't see any improvement.

[–]StompnNubs 19 points20 points ago

JUSTIN BEIBER 24/7 GREATEST HITS

[–]skytiger859 12 points13 points ago

If that were true, they wouldn't play anything.

[–]StompnNubs 10 points11 points ago

Better, a livestream of UFC fighters punching that little twat in the face, death metal in the background.

[–]JoshTheDerp 5 points6 points ago

I would bet the latter. It's MTV.

[–]3BetLight 6 points7 points ago

Who the fuck cares, honestly I liked the first season or 2, haven't watched it since, didn't know it was still on. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's not like it's blocking MTVs other great programming.

I don't see why people hate the show. It's just people having fun, what's so bad about that?

[–]Ryan_Firecrotch 6 points7 points ago

Damn fit people outside, all enjoyin' themselves, havin' sex and whatnot...

[–]CanadianControl 6 points7 points ago

You know, nothing is forcing you to watch Jersey Shore. I don't like it either but there's no reason to be happy that it's cancelled.

I don't watch it anyway, so I don't care.

How about you?

Who cares? The damage has already been done.

And ten minutes later TLC announces a new show called New Jersey Beach will run twice a week for 520 weeks.

This needs to be cross-posted to /r/atheism as proof there is a God.

[–]Pimp_Cat 3 points4 points ago

This should be x-posted in r/atheism as absolute proof there is a God.

[–]derpcraft3 3 points4 points ago

this should be posted on /r/atheism, because this proves there is a god. right?

I wish MTV would cancel MTV.

I am from New Jersey and now live in California. The first time someone asked me what I thought about the Jersey Shore, I told them I liked ski ball and Taffee although it wasn't as nice as NC or SC beaches on the East Coast. I wondered why they kept asking me this and looking at me strangely when I replied. Now when people ask me this, I look them dead in they eye and say "I really hate people from Staten Island, and you are bad for watching that show and should feel bad"
