PROTIP- make friends with your local car junkyard/pick-a-part. 100% of the time they will find you what you need- if they don't have it they will find it for you. Also- car-part.com for used parts and rockauto.com is the cheapest and fastest for new parts. No I don't work for either, I am a proud customer.

Brandywine in MD is an awesome junkyard - worth the trip from VA- there is also a big junkyard on route 1 just before you get to woodbridge, va right before the 95 exit.

Ok, question from the U.K., slightly off topic. (I'm assuming this picture is from the US)

Is there no mandatory vehicle testing for roadworthiness? For example, in the UK (and Europe) any car more than 4 years old must have an annual inspection (called an MOT). It is illegal to drive without passing this inspection.

Even if this is a temporary fix, any police officer would pull you over here, tell you that your car is not roadworthy in it's current condition and give you x amount of time to fix it - I think 14 days?

In the USA, can you just drive a car regardless of it's condition? Even if it's mechanically unsafe?

I'd hope people don't judge this sort of thing too seriously. You don't know what happened to lead up to this event. I had my mirrors smashed out with hail a couple months ago and I very seriously considered doing something like this as a placeholder until I could get my mirrors fixed. Yes it would have looked silly, but it's better than driving around without sideview mirrors.

and no, the mirror is not pink because i'm a girl. it's pink because that was the last mirror available at target and it happened to be pink.
