Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

I have often thought that the smarter you are, the more mental issues you have. Of course, I include myself in that group. 8) I think its because we over-analyze everything. I think it would be easy to be a drooling troglodyte who enjoys vegging out to Jersey Shore.

I've come to that conclusion as well, after a lot of over-analysis of the available data :) I also have heard that intelligent people are highly prone to alcoholism and drug addiction.

in particular, thats the issues I have dealt with! And when I ran in those circles, I often found myself thinking, "Why are all of these highly intelligent people killing themselves with this stuff?", and I guess it's just anything to quiet the brain for awhile.

That's the unfortunate truth, brother.

quiet the brain for awhile

Learning to control that freight train of thoughts is the key. People walk around believing that all those thoughts are reality when in truth it's just an undisciplined mind operating out of habit instead of conscious control. Ignore the things you don't like, concentrate on the things you do and you'll start to feel happy regardless of circumstance. I doubt anybody on their deathbed wishes they'd spent more of their life worrying about bills or politics or whatever... People spend their lives trying to find happiness when in reality they're supposed to be making it for themselves.

Easier said than done for people with severe OCD. I finally got over that shit by my second year of high school, but I still find myself stuck in infinite loops of thought.

...but yes, I agree with your general idea.

If you got that under control in HS you're way ahead of the curve IMO and yes, it's hard for people to do without OCD I can't imagine what it must be like for people with it.
