Nope, I do it too. After having to call a locksmith to the outskirts of Houston, coupled with having to pay a ticket. I got about 26 bucks in my checking and about 9 in my savings. Plus about 20 in cash. Fuckin' sucks being poor at the moment

At least they're trying to force banks to stop re-organizing the order stuff posts to maximize overdrafts. 4-5 years ago, I overdrafted with a decent sized purchase, but they posted a ~$1.50 convenience store purchase I had made earlier after, so I got hit with two $35 fees.

Nothing like paying $36.50 for a Coke. Makes the movie theater seem cheap by comparison.

i've heard horror stories, where they will randomly and arbitrarily switch the "free" account to a paid account. and then when you try to close it, they dont. they will keep it open with like a penny or so, and continue to charge you fees because you dont meet their minimum balance requirements.

i've never heard "Chase" and "Awesome bank" at the same time before... you should get out now while you still can.

With a debit card, you can still overdraft with checks of direct withdraws. That said I thought it was hilarious last year when all the banks tried to sell people they should opt-in to overdraft checking.

When I was in college I went up to an ATM and put my card in with one dude waiting in line behind me. I put in my code and pressed the button to check my balance and said "Come on, big money big money big money big money no whammies STOP!" And when the balance came up I sighed defeatedly and went "Aww." The guy behind me laughed and we became friends after that.

Right? I had a job in college part time and was able to do most of the things I wanted with that money. Most students have 16 hours of class a week. I was a bad student, so this is just a guess that most students have 10 or so hours of homework/reading outside of class. That's 26 hours used in a 5 day week. Plenty of time to earn some spending money.

$1500 Food

$1000 Leisure

$15300 Total to be paid.

Minimum Wage = $10.25

Summer

$410/Week

4 Months in summer

$6560 Summer Total Earned.

Using BsFan - 14 hours of unused time towards a job.

$143.50/week.

8 Months of school.

$4592 Total earned during school year.

Total to be paid = $15300

Total earned = $11152

Amount remaining to be paid = $4148

Due to total yearly income being greater than $10000, individual with also have to pay income tax. That's an estimated $1600 in Ontario.

Instead of $11152 in the bank, they now have $9552.

Sure they can work more hours, but their grades may also suffer. In the long run, grades are more important if they are looking for post-undergraduate education.

This is why students are broke. Get off your high horse.

Honestly, Ontario has a solid OSAP set up. 30% off tuition for families that make less than $160 000 yearly is a sweet fuckin deal. Also, mine and all my friends tuition was ~$6 500 before that 30%. Your estimate is about 4k off, and if your fucking broke you don't have a thousand to spend on "leisure". AAannnd it seems you need to make 39 000 dollars. Before you pay income tax.

Additional source: I made $12000 last year and got every cent back from te government.

EDIT: To expand on the income tax topic, if you make over $10,822 in Ontario you must pay 15% in tax.
