Again, no one cares if it's your cakeday, or if it's your first post, or anything for that matter. The cake is there as a little treat for you, not to give you a chance to attention whore to get upvotes.

It gets annoying when it gets mentioned so often in titles, and people expect free upvotes just because it's their special day.

Same reason why people get mad at titles like "Level level: level, Look at this le gem, NAILED IT, look at what my girlfriend made me" It's tacked on to attract extra karma, not because it adds anything to the content.

But neckbeards pop up and belittle users whenever somebody tries to post something that addresses theirs when it comes around.

Because often it's meaningless and irrelevant. On most occasions, it has nothing to do with the image, nor does it add anything to it, which is why these users get a lot of flak for it.
